Banyan Tree Bangkok delivered on so many levels during my recent stay that it’s difficult to fully describe—this is something that truly needs to be experienced.
What can only be described as an iconic property ranks among the finest travel experiences I’ve had in 25 years of both business and leisure travel. The spirit of the hotel is embedded in every detail, reflecting decades of refining service to this level. That DNA is clearly evident in a management team led by Kai Aumpa and Boyd Vongpattamas. From personalized touches to genuinely warm and attentive staff, the hotel embodies everything one expects from a luxury five-star experience. The level of detail is extraordinary, matched by a consistent “we care, we can do” attitude that feels both rare and authentic. Having spent time interacting with senior staff, it becomes an experience you take with you—there’s much to learn from it. This wasn’t just a stay in Bangkok; it was a showcase of Thai hospitality leadership at its best, with both senior figures locally rooted and deeply connected to the culture they represent.
A few recommendations: booking a club lounge room is a must—it adds significant value to the overall stay. The pool is exceptional—intimate, calm, and a welcome escape from the city’s constant energy. The hotel’s complimentary tuk-tuk service, running hourly to nearby train stations until 6pm, is extremely useful, along with Grab taxis. The weather at this time of year is hot and humid, so walking is best avoided.
Breakfast on the 60th floor at Vertigo was both detailed and consistently well executed. Across all dining experiences, the chefs were accommodating and responsive to dietary requirements without hesitation. A special mention to Ray and Anny for their exceptional service in this space.
The club lounge staff were a highlight. Being greeted personally on each visit, including a seamless and individual check-in experience on the 19th floor after a long flight, sets the tone immediately. The welcome drink, towel, and snack add to what is a first-class arrival experience.
On the food front, Chef Boy was outstanding—nothing was too much trouble when it came to dietary needs. Supervisor Pim, often the first point of contact, was consistently present and helpful at every turn—a real standout and certainly one to watch for the future. Thanks as well to the wider team, including Nine, for their efficiency and attentiveness. Apologies to anyone not mentioned individually—everyone contributed to the experience.
One detail only discovered on the final night: a pianist plays in the foyer between 6pm and 9pm. It’s these touches that define great hotels, creating a relaxed and refined atmosphere. There were always activities and dining options promoted throughout the hotel—worth keeping an eye on the updates in the lifts.
My Vertigo room type itself was breathtaking. Located 57 floors up, it offers sweeping, uninterrupted views of Bangkok’s skyline and river - surely the best view of Bangkok! The room was impeccably maintained throughout the stay. A special mention must go to the laundry team—the service was exceptional, with clothes returned in near-new condition.
Thanks also go concierge staff especially Mr Chin!
A final word on management: thank you to both Kai and Boyd for the time and conversations—it was a genuine pleasure meeting you both and sharing thoughts in person. You are the driving force behind what is clearly a well-grounded and high-performing property. This hotel stands as a benchmark within the group, and it’s clear that it starts with Kai.
Our wellbeing experience in Hatha Yoga class on Saturday morning was great. Mr.Badminton, the yoga instructor, was calm and took care of us very well. The room and equipments were clean and well-prepared.
Very luxurious
Nothing
Good location
A bit too standard. Expected something special with banyan tree. Didn’t like that they didn’t give us a quiet room although we asked for it. Charity contribution shouldn’t be included as default.
Friendliness, and high-quality service from K.Film. The food is extremely delicious. The view is absolutely amazing. We also got surprised Birthday cake from Chef Aom. All the staff is so kind. Thank you
Comfortable rooms and unparalleled service! This beautiful hotel is peaceful haven in an exciting city. The service was beyond compare. The staff at the 19th floor were so helpful and kind. They gave great recommendations on food and activities. The people at the front desk, the concierge and the valetmade is feel warm and cared for—-this is such a friendly place. The rooms are large and the beds comfy. The location is great. We highly recommend this hotel. I hope to return soon.
What an amazing meal! The food and service at Saffron Grill was just perfect. From the moment we arrived the service was top notch.
The staff were all extremely nice and polite. Very appreciative being moved to a window table between courses. Food was creative and delicious
Tout !
J’ai beau cherché, vraiment tout était parfait
I expected to be given the hotel 5 stars as i had heard so much about it. Maybe our timing was just unfortunate as we were not fully aware of the extent of the renovations at the front of the hotel. We knew the breakfast restaurant was closed and they used Vertigo which was fantastic. Pool area is smaller than we expected but to be honest was out doing trips most of the day so not a major issue.
We booked a Club Room so enjoyed the benefits of that in the evening before venturing out in Bangkok. A must is to have a drink at Moon Bar on the top of the hotel which gives spectacular views across Bangkok.
Once the renovations are complete the frontage will look fantastic i am sure but just disappointing they were on during our visit.
Ok so I was lucky to try two five star properties during our trip to Bangkok. See my review of the brilliant The Okura Prestige. We stayed at Banyan Tree on the way back as I wanted to try this chain ever since I saw their property in Mexico. Overall we had a pleasant stay. The room was big and came with a huge bathroom, the size of the actual bedroom. It was absolutely massive. Gym was a bit on the small side and the pool was long but narrow. Breakfast was quite good. The hotel has a famous rooftop lounge called Moon which is on the 61st floor and offers amazing views of the city.
Well trained business people with properly qualified skills to take care their guesses.
the spa was very nice and relaxing, would recommend
