Cons:

I was give 301, the farthest away from the front desk. The walk was awful. I am handicapped. This time I paid $59extra to get a handicapped room. I wish I had known it was so huge and difficult to get around.

Pros:

The property is nice and comes with good amenities if you are interested.

Cons:

I booked the luxury deluxe king room, which we paid extra to get a garden view in the fall. When I arrived, I realized that my view is facing the parking lot. I called the front desk and they told me they don’t even have a garden. When I told them this was listed on the website, they simply said they don’t know what happened.

Nice design, rooms need an upgrade
Pros:

It’s thoughtfully designed and pleasant to be in. Love the self serve espresso and the food is good.

Cons:

My room was musty and damp and the ac unit was really loud. All the rooms feel in need of overhaul.

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Great breakfast. The food at the restaurant was overpriced.
Cons:

The first room we had smelled like mildew. We asked for another and it also smelled but not as bad.

Disappointing
Cons:

Booked what we thought was the hotel section but when we arrived we were given a room in the "motel" section (outdoor entrance to room). Old AC hanging out of window, peeled paint on door, musty smell in room. We had just spent money there as part of a wedding (Rehearsal dinner, Rooms, etc). When I asked for a room in the Hotel, the response was smug and was asked, "what do you want me to do, we have no rooms". What happened to the hospitality training/mindset. There were rooms as I checked in early. Why was I given this room and not someone who checked in later. Their attitude said to me that we don't need your business as we are busy and doing well without you. Someday you may need my business.

Don't hesitate to book!
Pros:

This is a great hotel esp when traveling with families.
The outdoor pool area is beautiful and has a wonderful combination of sun and shade!
My 11 y/o even found a basketball hoop/ balls in the rear parking lot.
Gardens, a creek and wooded areas all around to explore.
A great value with an included hot breakfast every morning and free parking!
Just outside West Hartford!

Unpleasant experience
Pros:

Unfortunately, there was a very unfriendly person at the front desk “greeting us” when we arrived. She wanted to add an extra “resort fee.” Our usual credit card did not work for this extra fee. If we had not been able to produce another credit card, she would have thrown us out on the street at 9 PM.
To this woman’s surprise, we produced a separate credit card that worked. Once that card worked, the receptionist tried to “bond”ִ with us. She complained about the job as not being very good, but that she needed it to put her daughter through college. Then she said perhaps the computer hadn’t been working, she was never willing to look at herself as having perhaps made a mistake.
Because of this whining and unfriendly receptionist we cannot recommend this hotel. They should be more careful about whom they hire to deal with the public.

Old world charm and comfort
Pros:

I love the esthetic of the hotel. I've stayed there a few times. I like its old world charm, canopy beds and spiral staircases.

Cons:

The woman at the front desk was cold and unwelcoming. She's consistently that way when I encountered her on my previous stays. The other staff members are warmer less frigid.
