We visited Palm Springs for a few days to escape the cold of the Pacific Northwest, and we decided to stay at the Good House in part because of its commitment to being an eco-friendly hotel. It is located in Desert Springs in a quiet, residential neighborhood that is a twenty minute drive from the airport and a forty-five minute drive from Joshua Tree National Park. A large, busy resort with a golf course was not quite what we had in mind, whereas the tranquility and coziness of the Good House suited us perfectly.
We thoroughly explored the beautiful grounds, which contained many seating areas in which to read, have a drink, and enjoy the sunshine. The garden itself contains many desert palms and cacti as well citrus trees. There is also a pond with a trickling waterfall. One of the other guests had brought along their dog, which made the compound feel even more like home. We spent each evening around the fire pit chatting about the day and enjoying the freshly-baked cookies.
Our rooms were thoughtfully decorated and furnished with large, comfortable beds. There was also a kitchenette for making tea, coffee, or a light snack. On the second day, we had some issues with the hot water and because all the other rooms were occupied, the staff generously relocated us to the villa next door. We absolutely loved the additional space and privacy along with the well-equipped kitchen and the large pool. A pair of ducks came by for a swim on our last day.
We will be back to do more hiking in Joshua Tree National Park and we will be sure to stay at the Good House for our next visit. Thank you so much to all the staff for their wonderful hospitality:)
Wonderful place to stay! The staff is committed to make your stay pleasurable. The mineral water is amazing. A place we will always return to.
The landscaping was absolutely stunning, truly a little oasis in Desert Hot Springs. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the property itself is so cute and quaint. Breakfast was lovely, and the pool and jacuzzi were an absolute delight. Everything about this place was perfect, and it made for such a relaxing, memorable stay.
Awesome place, great people! Loved the chef & Jocelyn. Pool was so perfect
We have visited this place several times over the years, but this is our first time since it changed names and management.
Chef Van really makes the experience with being super friendly, warm, and making incredible sweet treats every evening for guests. He is a gem and deserves a raise I’m sure!
Much appreciated the free wine at check in and welcome basket.
Everything is absolutely perfect here and if you come during the week you might even get the place to yourself which is amazing!
Only thing I would ask is that they provide free morning coffee service instead of a paid menu. Just free coffee would be so nice. The room came with a couple of sachets but no actual machine.
The swimming pool is so perfectly warm and you can easily float on your back watching the birds in the beautiful trees surrounding the space. The food is healthy and delicious! The dry sauna and hot tub are also so relaxing and open 24 hours.
The Good House provides both a healing sanctuary along with joyous staff and clientele. The mineral pools are excellent.
We had a great time. The service was excellent. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure we had a pleasant stay and everything we needed. Already looking forward to our next visit.
The overall look and feel was warm and friendly. The room was nice, nothing special but the grounds while small is very beautiful. The breakfast we ordered was delicious. We were very happy we chose The Good House and hope to return again
Thank you so much for this oasis and for making my stay with my dogs so deeply relaxing and uplifting. I will be back
Just 10 miles east of downtown Palm Springs, “The Good House” is a hidden gem in Desert Hot Springs, CA. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway for the day, weekend or week this is your spot. This boutique hotel has so much to offer from the clean and comfortable rooms, to the lush beautiful landscape that includes a dry sauna, fire pit, pergola, outdoor covered patio with farm table, and my favorite the magical mineral healing hot springs pool and hot tub!
The Good House also offers spa amenities like massages, craniosacral therapy, reflexology, skincare treatments, reiki, and laughter yoga.
The staff at The Good House is friendly and helpful with any needs you might have. And what sets the The Good House apart from all the other hot springs hotels in the area is that they have a full kitchen with chef Van Stevens creating his seasonal farm fresh menus that are healthy and absolutely delicious! Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free modifications are available. Also, as a special touch, free fresh baked cookies are put out every day at 5pm. You can also order a variety of drinks including specialized coffees, smoothies, pressed juices, hand crafted cocktails and cocktails along with beer, wine and soft drinks.
If you need a break from your stressful life then The Good House is the place to go! You will leave feeling relaxed and recharged. And if you’re like me you won’t want to leave.
Staff was amazing Chef Van was so accommodating and his food creations were out of this world! We had the whole place to ourselves. Private, restful and we cannot wait to return
Relaxing, quiet, rejuvenating! Amazing, considerate staff! Chef Van was top notch. Just a short getaway for us from AZ. We needed to relax and unwind and this was exactly what we needed!
Came for my sisters birthday just the two of us. There was an issue with the filters for the hot spring water which caused the water to be cooler than usual, & they upgraded us to the villa! A lot of room for just two girls and so wonderful. We spent most of our time outdoors which was so nice. We were very impressed with hospitality and happy with our stay(:
The Good House is an oasis of relaxation and comfort. Everything was completely perfect, from the updated informational texts for check in, to the comfortable bed, beautiful room, the pool, lawn, and so much more. I recommend The Good House to anyone and everyone who wants a relaxing stay near Joshua Tree or Palm Springs. Van, the chef, is a genius and made us afternoon snacks, free of charge! A wonderful place!
My husband & I just had our first stay here -- a 3-night retreat-getaway -- and it was truly a magical experience. The grounds are beautiful, a hidden oasis with a variety of lush trees, flowers and grassy lawn along with a myriad of song birds. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly, our room was clean and nice, and the lunch prepared by Van was delicious! The water is hot (94 degrees in the big pool, 104 degrees in the small one) and healing -- we could feel the stress dissolving away. We spent most of our time in the pools, but also went for a nearby hike and met a friend in Palm Springs for dinner. After three days in this hidden paradise we feel relaxed, renewed and rejuvenated. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
The Good House is an oasis! The landscaping is impressive. The trees provide a wonderful canopy from the sun and privacy from the street while the beautiful plants attract wonderful birds, making you forget that you’re in the desert. The grounds are amazingly serene with various places to lounge and relax, not to mention the natural hot springs pool is magnificent.
The staff is terrific. Van and Emily are very friendly, helpful, attentive, and accommodating. Van cooks tasty and healthful food, making it so convenient not having to leave and eat elsewhere.
The rooms are on point. They’re clean, tastefully and minimally decorated, complete with a small toaster oven and mini fridge (with a freezer!), and quiet. We LOVED that the room is tiled, not carpeted, especially since we brought our dog.
We highly recommend The Good House will definitely return and make it our regular destination!
Easter Plans tossed by hotel............Incredibly disappointed to be treated so poorly after already TWO hotel stays in less than two years. We loved it, We told everyone about it. We couldn't wait to get back so when The Goodhouse themselves sent ME a CYBER monday sale email, I booked immediately for April since the offer was good through May 2025. I still have the email. But only two weeks before our APRIL trip, they just refunded my money I had already paid, and did NOT call me! I had to call and find out what happened. They said they DOUBLE BOOKED! How can that be when I booked back in DEC 2024! Way in advance! All they could say and do was offer us another gross hotel that did NOT compare and did NOT take dogs.... another reason we loved this location so much, my dog loved it and chilled with us and the staff loved him. We never did receive a valid reason but of course we figured out it was most likely due to COACHELLA events and some big rich daddy o walked in and the owner TOOK THE CASH over his clients. It's NOT a good look in the slightest since this is a fairly new black owned hotel. They literally kicked out 7 rooms with at least 2 people each.. so they kicked out 14 paying clients for some singer and her entourage most likely. I hope they use the dirty cash to fix all the issues this hotel has such as a bad door on the sauna, the firepit needs maintenance, ALL the cheap teak wood chairs are falling apart... the back patios all need refurbishing....BUT probably NOT. The only GOOD thing now I can say about this place is the staff. Emily is awesome.. the ladies who clean are so nice. The "chef" is very nice but the food is NOT as good as everyone says... Long story short.... They don't care about your reservation and will kick you out if some money is thrown at them. I'll be at the spa up the street from now on. They want my money!
We have been visiting this property since 2022 and we were pretty disappointed during our stay this past weekend. The warm and welcoming lobby is now a massage area (and closed) and the makeshift lobby is much smaller and does not create that welcoming ambience. The pool was dirty; it was not just dirty from the wind blowing leaves in, it appeared to not have been cleaned for a long while. There were dirty towels overflowing in the bin by the pool and they’ve removed several water coolers and the remaining one was almost out of water. It also appears they’re reduced staff hours. No one was onsite in the early evening. They used to serve free coffee and home baked goods and now you have to pay for the coffee. The rooms are still very nice although our sink was loose. I really hope they can revert back to how it used to be. The Good House was one of our favorite places to visit.
We stayed 2 nights at The Good House, the first night on the main property and the 2nd night at their villa. It was a wonderful experience. The staff are incredibly warm and inviting. They added to the so much to the already wonderful stay. The whole property just invites a relaxing atmosphere - from the mineral pool to the various sitting areas throughout.
We had a small issue with the room (nothing to the fault of the owner) and they rectified it immediately. It truly shows they want their guests to have the best experience.
The breakfast and coffee were delicious and started the day off right.
Now, the villa. Its a whole other property next door to the main house, with its own mineral pool and hot tub. The design is beautifully done. Loved the airbnb type private experience while still having the luxuries of the hotel (food, drink and housekeeping). We cannot wait to book the villa next time with friends.
Only regret is not booking a spa service. Next time!
