Absolute filthy depressing place, do not book here as you will be majorly disappointed
Place is falling to bits and smells of damp staff are nonexistent
Needs a lot of investment to sort this place out
Would not reccineng one bit — avoid !!!!!
Sadly this isn't like it used to be, the pool facilities are poor and unfinished with pool tiles that have come loose which are dangerous not only in the pool but around the edge of the pool. There were used plasters around the pool edge and used chewing gum in the sauna. The changing rooms could be better, the plastic kit bags were all gone and the shoe covers also empty which meant that people watching swimming lessons that were happening were going in and out with dirty shoes which was not nice when leaving the pool to get changed. When using the sauna, it seems to be on a timer which means when it switches off someone needs to go to the reception desk to ask for it to be turned back on. No lights were on which made it quite dark when swimming. Finally my last complaint was the cost... £20 per adult and £15 per child to swim only for a maximum of 3 hours (with children) as this is the only time a lifeguard is on duty apparently but no lifeguard was apparent whilst we were there... I think the hotel should be closed whilst maintenance is caried out as it's dangerous and these prices should be reduced whilst decor is not finished.
Overall I think it is very overpriced for the standard which is a shame.
This place is a disgrace. The room was £115 and not worth half of that. It is very worn out and looks like it hasn’t been updated since I went there 20 years ago. The carpet was stained, there were holes in the curtains. It felt like a prison. The breakfast was a joke. No saucers with the cups. Christmas decoration still out. Stains all over the place. No fruit or yogurt and no choice. I would definitely not recommend until it has a full refurbishment.
Had a stay for 3 days in the resort. It was a gathering for a family gathering and the staff were friendly to accommodate the requests raised by the guests.
What once used to be a very lovely, family feel hotel, I was shocked! Everything is so ran down, very neglected with the carpet that has been taken out the reception area? It's such a shame as there was a lot of love, care and effort put into this hotel and clearly it was sold to the wrong people as they do not have a clue or care. There was never any broken fixtures, stained carpets and damp. The golf course was once the best in Wiltshire and again, what an absolute shame that it has been negelted. This hotel has a lot of potential with the right owners. Please take down the photos on the website, this is FALSE advertising and photos from an era of a thriving hotel, wedding venue and golf course, which unfortunately has long gone. Very very sad to see it in this state.
I stayed here for the location. The rooms are shabby and horrible. Doesn’t look very clean and the carpet is gross. Nothing has been decorated or furnished for 20-30 years by the look of it. Concrete slab in reception instead of a carpet. Bar looks like a retirement home. Place smells of damp. Needless to say I drove to the pub for something to eat. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Good value for money, clean and excellent location
Not worth the money very Dissatisfied with the rooms had to be moved due to Broken windows and TV not working
Needs a decent upgrade as rooms are looking a bit shabby. Only stayed for one night but was a comfy bed. Food in the restaurant is ok but quite pricey for what it is. Lovely surroundings and area. Pretty good value for money for bed and breakfast.
What a poor state this hotel is in, no carpet in the main reception to greet us, the hall leading into the restaurant, has one but it was grubby and ripped.Bathrooms did not seem to have been updated since the ‘70’s, with rusty taps and driers. The restaurant looks pleasant and comfortable, but we were the only people there and still the service was slow. The menu is very limited and turns out they don’t have a chef, they order food out and heat it up, and then charge high prices. Staff are trying to be helpful but are un-trained and stretched to perform their jobs. We will not try to eat there again….and if the restaurant is anything to go by, I can just imagine what the rooms are like. Sad, this is a beautiful spot with no management.
Very poor. Very Dirty. No food past 2000. No staff. Overpriced and awful. Please avoid or you will regret.
Food was good but not hot enough
Hotel rooms were ok about dated but were clean
Golf course is so bad very poor signing for next hole ,greens were in bad condition and had a lot of little holes everywhere it’s
Not been looked after , didn’t se a green keeper in 2 days
Had a stain on my bed when I got there
We broke our journey back to Yorkshire from a mini break in Bournemouth 30/8/25 for one night, I was pleased with the cost of the room with breakfast but it was a fab bonus to use the pool and dry sauna ( I prefer wet ) What a pity the hotel is struggling for guests it was a lovely room very clean and the breakfast was great we has ample coffee, cereal and full english for less than £100..! The staff were great very helpful and extremely polite, the building has a tired feel and was having work done which is much needed so the more paying guests the better and I hope they manage to maintain the current prices.
Could/ should be a top place to stay. Sadly, it is tired with the owners paying minimal attention to the place. The staff made it fab, but the lack of food choices in the restaurant and the cheaper ingredients etc were disappointing. Pool lovely, not always heated. There seems to be a catch 22 of not providing a high standard so it lost favour or it lost favour and dropped its expenditure. This should be 4/5 star. The door says 3 star, but currently more a 2 star
Check in was fine! Rooms are basic! Bar service was really poor. The guy on check in was also serving on the bar with wait times of 30 mins sometimes. The restaurant was the same waiting 40 mins for a starter even though it wasnt busy maybe six people in there. The staff where good but expected to do too much.
Absolute disgrace of a golf course. Gaping trench holes in the fairways, unkept tees and greens that are not watered or kept from geese holes and droppings . Basically an unplayable course with a distinct lack of proper upkeep or signage. Hotel basic with poor maintenance and ran at minimal cost but I have to say friendly staff.
Easy access to all our destinations but the hotel was excellent staff absolutely great and helpful and extremely polite on my next visit to cotswolds and Swindon i know we will be staying there again
Stair carpet need cleaning, need to learn how to make porches eggs need more plugs in the room. Golf buggies where expensive
Staff were attentive and facilities were very good. Parking was easy and location was ideal.
