This is the second time at this hotel. The location is great, the staff amazing and good service and breakfast.
Sadly we went back to this hotel as we went last year and loved their roof terrace. No one pointed out to us that the roof terrace was not available and that there was work going on in the hotel before arrival or at check in which was very disappointing
Great customer service. Convenient location to everything in town. Particular shout out to Kapil in the breakfast room. He and his colleagues are great ambassadors for the hotel.
We came for university visits and enjoyed the Marriott Oxford City Centre. We picked it for its great location. On our last night, we enjoyed meeting Masood. He was delightful. He made our last night so enjoyable - great conversation and helped explained some typical British drinks. He was full of helpful solutions!
Masood recommended me different drinks at the bar and was super happy and super friendly. I would never have gotten the drinks I did and I ended up getting multiple.
Close to the town centre, very friendly staff, fabulous check out time of 12 noon and they extended it for us too, free of charge. Loved being guest of the day and getting a sweet treat.
Nothing
I stay at this hotel regularly. Despite not being a 'luxury' hotel in terms of amenities, the Courtyard is easily the best hotel in Oxford. The reason is because it consistently gets the basics right. A few points:
- rooms are consistently very clean
- water pressure & temperature excellent
- climate control in the rooms (including AC) works flawlessly. This is key in Oxford and is an issue at basically every other hotel (no joke) including those that charge 700 GBP a night like the Randolph, Old Parsonage etc. The functional AC is the main reason why I come to the hotel
- the rooms tend to be quiet and have good sound insulation (this is another issue at hotels in the city). The hotel is also 7 mins or so outside the city center, which helps with noise too
- people have complained about the black out curtains but honestly it's a godsend. The curtains fully black out light which is super helpful, especially in the summer when the sun rises at 4 AM in the UK.
- most of the staff is friendly and helpful
There are only some minor areas for improvement I would highlight:
- the reception area can become quite busy as there are only two desks. In general, this is fine, but it becomes an issue when you just need something quickly (like storing a bag), but you need to wait 10 mins for a bunch of people to check in first. Might I suggest having someone hovering near the check in area to assist guests with these 'quick' requests so that they don't need to wait
- recently I noticed there are no longer water bottles in the room. I appreciate there are areas to fill up water bottles and glasses on each floor but after a long day of travel water bottles are an expected touch given the price point
I will continue to return to this hotel. Special thanks to Joshua and Simeon who consistently are helpful and courteous.

I stayed for work, for an entire week and everything was spot on. Especially Hari and Susma at breakfast service - great service and very happy to help.
Quiet frequently in the hotel, a very nice experience every time. The stuff is super helpful. Feel like a second home 🤗
Marriott Oxford City Center: great location, walked (my husband scootered) to dining and all the sites. Friendly and very helpful staff. My husband has a walking disability and Sourav was so helpful with his scooter and our bags. Clean, quiet, modern room with excellent disability aids in the bath. A large variety of breakfast choices. Highly recommend.
Joshua was an absolute sweetheart! Helped us figure out travel plans, went out of his way to refill our water bottles, and even took Polaroid pictures of all as a keepsake!
Great stay, everything was kept clean. We were welcomed warmly and enjoyed the accommodations & location. Joshua helped us checkout and is one of the most pleasant and polite human beings I have met. He went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcomed. Outstanding gentleman that added to our experience greatly.
Centrally located and an easy walk to most areas. We walked everywhere and only took a car when leaving the city. Our room was clean and comfortable. The hotel team - front desk (Joshua), restaurant/bar, housekeeping, maintenance- everyone was friendly and helpful. While there is no fitness center, all the walking you'll do makes up for it. Oxford is a gem of a city!
Such a nice staff, it’s clear they really care about your experience. The rooms are clean and the entire hotel is very polished. Highly recommend staying here!

Great hotel in the city center
I like to praise kapil at breakfast
And Matthew in the bar
Always love the welcome from this hotel and although I arrived early my room was ready....fantastic location, quiet area but very close to Oxford centre and Westgate.
Fried eggs only on request....but otherwise breakfast was good.
The room was clean & comfortable. The layout and space was more than adequate. Having a separate bathroom across the landing gave another level of privacy. The complimentary breakfast was well catered - buffet style & the option to order (eggs, omeletes, etc.). The head housekeeper spoke to everyone individually at breakfast to check everything was ok with the rooms which was a nice touch. We checked out but had hours to wait for our train. The helpful desk staff advised that we could leave our luggage at the hotel until we were ready to depart. This gave us time to walk around Oxford hands-free. Another big tick in the box for us. Overall a pleasant stay.
Walking through the dining/bar area to access our room.
