I love Ocracoke and I would stay at Blackbeards Lodge again.
Pros:

I really enjoyed sitting on the porch and people watching. Good location to get to all the restaurants and shops in the village....and most especially you accept pets and I could bring my dog with me. I really liked the fact that I could also rent a golf cart with my room reservation. Enjoyed the pool too!

Cons:

You are right on the road and I wanted to make sure not hit anyone lol....but there is nothing you can do about that! It also made for great people watching.

True Piracy at Blackbeards Lodge
Pros:

Beware: We paid for a Deluxe King Suite but were given a standard Queen Room

I booked a Deluxe King suite through booking.com and immediately received a confirmation message directly from Blackbeards Lodge asking whether I would be bringing a pet. I confirmed that I would be and was informed of the additional pet fee due at check-in. This showed that the hotel had received my reservation details.

When we arrived, we discovered we had not been given the Deluxe King suite we paid for. Instead, we were placed in an old, worn, Queen room that was clearly not the category we had reserved.

I spoke with Cynthia at the front desk. Rather than acknowledging the mistake or offering to refund the difference in price, she repeatedly blamed booking.com and then offered several different explanations as to why it happened. She even agreed that I had every reason to be upset and told me how I could seek reimbursement. However, when booking.com contacted the hotel on my behalf, the hotel refused to approve any adjustment.

The most disappointing part wasn’t just receiving the wrong room- it was the complete lack of accountability. We paid for one room category and received another, yet no one at the property was willing to make it right.

If you book here,I strongly recommend confirming your room type before arrival and verifying that you actually receive the accommodations you paid for. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this hotel.

Ocracoke was Charming and we love the golf cart.
Pros:

The room was small and the furniture had peeling paint. The staff was very nice and very helpful. I should have selected a larger room.

Cons:

The room and bathroom were small. The furniture had paint peeling off the top. Extra pillows would have been appreciated.

It was like Glamping! Very peaceful. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. The rental golf cart through the lodge
Pros:

Location was great. The staff were all super helpful especially Miss Cynthia. Had a cool vibe of beach and pirate lore.

Cons:

I wouldn’t have picked a second floor walk up for our particular ages. Also cable didn’t work in our room. Internet was very spotty. And no hair dryer

Charming and convenient.
Pros:

This is the oldest inn on the island. I loved the history of the place, the location. Cynthia is a jewel. She was very helpful with recommendations and cares about the people who stay in the inn. The room was private, quiet, and very clean. Coffee in the morning was nice. The porch, lobby, pool, and game room provided plenty of communal spaces to converse with folks or to just sit and watch the world go by. I would gladly stay there again.

Cons:

There were some things that needed repair, and I did let Ms. Cynthia know about them. One was a crack in the bathtub, the other was the toilet that needed reseating. The A/C could not keep up with the humidity, and it was noticeably more humid in that room than in the hallway. The unit was functioning, but it was still a bit swampy. Perhaps a unit meant for a smaller square footage might be more effective.
