Slow internet connection
The location of this property was excellent - amongst many little quaint shops and coffee shops. The hotel had a cool vibe - it is known for the Shanghai Film Festival so it has a cinematic theme. Loved our stay!
The wifi was a little slow in some spots but otherwise, the room was darling!

It is a bit more than 150 yards from the metro but still close enough!
The steam room in the fitness centre didn't seem to be working.
The room description included a spa bath but this did not seem to be available.
The concierge staff did not seem to know about the range of restaurants and cafes all within 5 mins walk. A really good range of options.

The location is great to reach most of the tourist destinations in Shanghai and breakfast is awesome with a mix of local and European dishes. It is also easy to access to Shanghai Film Archive Cinema via a connected indoor path.

This was definitely a disappointing end to our trip in China after the generally exceptional service we had received at our previous IHG hotel stays. Nothing can make up for being assigned to a room where the basic bathroom functions such as toilet flushing and hot and cold taps do not work effectively. The solution of being expected to move rooms when we have three young children, are out of the hotel most of the time, and are in the midst of sorting everything out for the flight home is not viable. The room assignment should not have been made to any guest, let alone one with Platinum Elite status.
On review, it seems that this hotel is resting on its laurels and relying on its reputation and theming to cover for a product that would not up to Crowne Plaza standards elsewhere. The smell of cigarettes hang in the hallway although the rooms were on a non-smoking floor. The buffet breakfast was plain and basic for this standard of hotel. The port cochere with vehicles passing was hazardous for people trying to get to and from the lobby given the flawed design, particularly with a specific smoking area in the main thoroughfare.
There are literally thousands of options in Shanghai, and many in this area, so do not settle for this tired overhyped property.

De locatie van het hotel is prima, het metro station (lijn 10) is op korte afstand, de wijk is relatief rustig en rustiek met veel goede kleine restaurants en winkels. Faciliteiten in het hotel zijn prima, kamers rustgevend, goed bed en een uitgebreid en gevarieerd ontbijt.
De drukte bij het ontbijt, mede als gevolg van het gebrek aan kleine tafels voor een of twee personen.
As a Muslim, finding suitable halal food when traveling is always a challenge. However, my stay at the Crowne Plaza Shanghai was truly a pleasant surprise! The front desk staff was welcoming and attentive, check-in was quick and efficient. I especially want to praise the hotel's dining options. I was surprised to find halal food here, and it completely met my dietary needs. Whether it was the mushrooms and flatbread at breakfast or the hummus during dinner, the ingredients were fresh, the food was well prepared and very delicious! I was deeply touched by the chef's understanding and respect for the halal culinary culture. I highly recommend this hotel to fellow Muslims who share similar needs. Staying here provides peace of mind and a comfortable stay. Definitely a Five-star rating!
