My niece and I had an unforgettable stay at The EDITION during our recent London trip for her birthday and to see Bad Bunny.
Breakfast here is a must-try. They serve traditional English breakfast, but we opted for waffles and French toast, which were both delicious. There’s something magical about celebrating a milestone birthday in a city as iconic as London.
The location is unbeatable, just a short walk from Fitzrovia and the heart of central London. This made exploring together effortless, especially during the heatwave we were fortunate enough to experience.
What truly set The EDITION apart was the exceptional customer service. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay feel personal and warm. Their attentiveness turned a great hotel into a truly memorable experience.
With its gorgeous property, perfect location, and exceptional service, The EDITION made our birthday unforgettable. We’re already dreaming about our next stay!
Nice location
Great room- small but to be expected in london
Comfy bed
For value- expensive for what it is compare to the other Edition
If I could give zero stars, I would. Our recent stay at The London EDITION was nothing short of a nightmare, completely shattering any expectations of a 5-star luxury Marriott brand.
The ordeal began when a piece of my child’s clothing went missing from our room. After hours of unnecessary anxiety and repeatedly chasing the staff, the item was finally returned to us at 11:30 PM. It turned out that a member of their housekeeping staff had carelessly taken it by mistake. The lack of care and urgency regarding a guest's—let alone a child's—belongings was deeply frustrating.
However, the absolute worst part of our stay occurred during checkout. We were delayed by just one hour. Instead of demonstrating basic hospitality or understanding, the hotel forcefully penalized us with a £200 "half-day" room charge. They maliciously deducted this exorbitant amount directly from our £200 security deposit.
When we tried to reason with them and politely requested to see the written hotel policy or terms and conditions that justify this specific £200 penalty, the management flat-out refused to provide any proof.
The behavior of the management team—specifically Simona Polato (Reception Manager), Yuliia Melnyk (Guest Relations Manager), and Umesh Kommalage Don (Duty Manager)—was utterly appalling. Not only were they arrogant, dismissive, and incredibly rude, but we also strongly felt we were subjected to racial discrimination based on the hostile way we were treated. The lack of basic respect and professionalism displayed by these three individuals is a disgrace to the hospitality industry.
My £200 deposit is already gone, but I am writing this review to warn future travelers. If you expect fair treatment, transparent billing, and respectful service, do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. I will never, ever return to this hotel.
Der Service, die Bereitschaft und die Freundlichkeit des Stuff-Teams war herausragend
There are hotels you return to out of habit, and hotels you return to because nothing else quite measures up. The London EDITION is firmly the latter.
A Slightly Bumpy Start this time — And Why It Didn't Matter
This stay didn't begin perfectly. One lift was out of service, and the gym was not operational. Legitimate inconveniences at this level (and not highlighted in advance) — but the team had a backup gym arranged five minutes away, communicated clearly, and acknowledged both issues directly and without deflection. No hollow apologies, no sense of being managed. Just honest, straightforward ownership of the situation.
How They Made It Right
What has always set this property apart is not the absence of imperfection — it is how the team responds when things fall short. Yuliia, Francesca, and Umesh each went the extra mile in ways that felt personal and specific — the kind of attention that tells you the team genuinely sees you as an individual, not a room number. And at checkout, they saw me out properly — a warm, genuine send-off that made clear my stay and my return genuinely mattered to them.
What Never Disappoints
Location, design, staff attentiveness — all as exceptional as ever across five stays. The warmth here feels cultivated, not scripted.
The measure of a great hotel is not whether everything goes perfectly. It is whether the team makes you feel genuinely looked after when it doesn't. Yuliia, Francesca, and Umesh are a credit to this property — and a big part of why I'll be back for a sixth stay without hesitation.
This hotel has really gone downhill. It is starting to show its age; it is getting rough around the edges; and the staff is unable to do much to stop the decline. Furthermore, it is impossible to get upgraded, even for top "elite" members using Upgrade nights. Marriott Bonvoy "benefits" have become so over-subscribed that they are practically worthless. Good luck trying to use them. When everyone is a VIP, no one is. After 20 years of Ambassador level loyalty to Marriott and Starwood before that, I'm moving to the competition. The Rosewood is a much better option.
Porta della camera di apriva con difficoltà causa vernice che rendeva appiccicosa la porta allo stipite.
As Ambassador-status guests returning for our second stay at The London EDITION, our expectations were already high and this visit somehow exceeded them.
**Francesca & The Art of Arrival**
From the moment we checked in, the experience was defined by one standout: Francesca, the duty manager who welcomed us. She engaged us in genuine conversation, asking where we'd traveled from. When we mentioned we were coming from Italy and stopping in London in route home, she asked with real curiosity what our favorite place in Italy had been. We told her Verona. She lit up, sharing that she, too, was Italian and adored that beautiful little city.
Our suite wasn't quite ready, so we enjoyed a leisurely lunch in the restaurant. Not long after, our phone rang, the room was ready. Waiting for us was a charcuterie board, a glass of white wine and a glass of red on top of each glass, a hand-crafted cardboard coaster that Francesca had made herself, printed with photographs of Verona. Resting beside them was a handwritten note welcoming us to our suite and warmly acknowledging our time in Verona.
It is impossible to overstate how much that gesture meant. In an industry where personalization is often performative, this was something else entirely thoughtful, creative, and utterly human. That is the kind of service that elevates a property from excellent to truly unforgettable. It is why we return, and why we will continue to do so.
**The Restaurant & Bar**
The restaurant itself is excellent. Our initial lunch had a few hiccups with service, but every other interaction throughout our stay with servers and bartenders alike more than compensated. The team, as a whole, delivers at a high level.
Our last evening was spent at the bar, where we were looked after by two exceptional bartenders: Alberto (from Spain) and Luigi (from Italy). They were knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely engaged. My husband has a taste for complex, specific cocktails, and they executed each one with skill and confidence no hesitation, no shortcuts.
Beyond the drinks, they were a delight to talk with. They shared insights on both Spain and Italy, offered recommendations for where we should venture next, and made the evening feel less like hotel bar service and more like catching up with friends who happen to be extraordinarily good at their craft. The food we ordered at the bar was equally spectacular.
**In Summary**
The London EDITION consistently delivers on the promise of genuine luxury not through extravagance alone, but through the people who make it what it is. Francesca, Alberto, and Luigi each left an impression we won't soon forget. We will be back.
I recently stayed at The London EDITION and unfortunately left disappointed, especially given the expectations of a five-star hotel.
I chose this property for its location and amenities, but several issues impacted my stay. The on-site gym was closed, and while I was offered access to a nearby facility, it’s not the same level of convenience you expect. In addition, one of the two elevators was out of service for most of my stay, which made getting around the hotel frustrating.
Service inconsistencies were the bigger issue. I was repeatedly asked to confirm I was a guest every time I entered the hotel. I understand security matters, but the frequency felt excessive and noticeably different from how other guests were treated. As a young Black American traveler, this raised concerns for me about whether I was being singled out, and it made the experience feel uncomfortable rather than welcoming.
When I raised these concerns, I was initially offered complimentary dry cleaning, which I appreciated—but that offer was later reversed with the explanation that my laundry cost was “£800,” which didn’t make sense and felt poorly handled. There was also unnecessary pushback when I asked for a room service charge to be addressed, which was only removed after significant back-and-forth.
To top it off, I called for assistance with my luggage at checkout and no one ever came. I ended up carrying my bags downstairs myself, which isn’t what you expect from a hotel at this level.
Overall, the experience felt inconsistent and, at times, dismissive. There’s potential here, but the service and follow-through need to match the standards the hotel promotes.
