Some issues with cleanliness, but great otherwise

My girlfriend and I love staying at Baymont. Our heat in our home is currently being worked on so when it is extra cold outside, Baymont has become our go to place! We love the fact that they have a balcony because that is actually hard to find! I will say that our stay the other night (2 nights before this stay), the room we were given was unfortunately untidy and had a few issues as far as cleanliness goes. The sheets had several stains or spots on them, which made us think that they may not have been cleaned properly. The brown stains on the toilet and bathtub were quite thick, and there was a ring in the bathtub, as well as a dead fly laying near the drain. There was also a dirty wash rag hanging on the shower rod, which we personally thought was an odd thing for housekeeping to just miss. The stay a couple days after was much better and the room was much cleaner. The staff has always been accommodating, helpful, and friendly. The rest of the hotel is well maintained and clean.

Everything was perfect.
Pros:

It was very clean super nice for the price. And 1 pet stays for free so that was a bonus. Will definitely return for more stays.

Pros:

The beds was terrible. They move as you sit. The light fixtures had bugs. The first room I was in had a bag on the smoke detector. Housekeeping didn't take the time to take it off. Customer service was awesome. Breakfast was great. The hotel presentation is terrible. Windows need cleaning.

When we walked into the room it had a musty smell my wife had to clean up the whole room because it felt disgusting they were stains on the carpet on the shower wall the noise was awful of everyone else

Unfortunately, this hotel and the rooms were not worth the $135 per night I paid.
Pros:

The coffee was good. The front desk staff were kind and helpful.

Cons:

Other than that, the pictures displayed beforehand to assist us in choosing Baymont Wyndham Salem, Virginia did not at all reflect the reality of the hotel. Run down, dirty, unusual smells in the hallways.

Pros:

Breakfast OK. Staff attempted to fix some problems. Appears that they are trying to upgrade a few things in the hotel.

Cons:

Hallway smelled like cat pee. Bedspread covered with pet hair. Carpet edges hadn't been vacuumed in months. Toilet not cleaned. No elevator in entire hotel. Very sloppy, recent paint job.

Kind staff cheap hotel and comfy bed. Needs some renovations for sure and a good cleaning

Staff was very kind and the hotel offered complimentary breakfast. The room was clean however there was a smell at first that I just couldn't get over. However the hotel was 88 bucks after taxes so it was definitely worth the money. Beds were very comfy and breakfast perfect because we were traveling by car. Highly recommend if you're looking for a cheap quick place to stay with comp breakfast and a very kind staff.

One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had.
Pros:

I have stayed at the Baymont inn in Salem VA every month for the past 7 months. The room is very clean and spacious and the beds are some of the most comfortable I've ever slept in.. I've stayed in a lot of hotels and motels.. The inn is located right off of exit 141 on I-81 in Salem VA.. Really convenient.
I'm writing this on Christmas day not only because it's the way I truly feel, but because they called me yesterday and said I had a free room on Christmas. I don't have any Wyndham rewards or anything. They just did this because of the kind of people they.. Everyday.
I wanted to mention Sunny, Pinto, Heather, Smite, Brittany and Roberto plus all of the housekeeping staff here because they deserve that. I always like I'm in a home away from home when I stay here but honestly, hotels have been my only home for over a year now! Lol.
The price is unbeatable for what you get, the breakfast is always delicious and they have the absolute best coffee I've ever had in a hotel. This place and it's people deserve the recognition..
