Overall we loved everything about the hotel.
Pros:

Staff at front desk and bellman were absolutely wonderful!! Location is incredible the hotel is wonderful.

Cons:

The only thing we didn't like was the breakfast. The food quality was very poor and the espresso was horrible. Not at all like the coffee shop just a few doors down. The waiters for dinner were not very good. Very slow we sat for over 30 minutes just to get noticed and a glass of wine.

Excellent hotel
Pros:

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for three nights during our two-week stay in Europe. First of all, the staff was exceptional, providing us with the best service and making excellent dinner recommendations. The atmosphere itself was also peaceful and we liked the fact that the hotel wasn’t far from the train station.

However, this was our first time going to Europe and we used a travel agency to book all of the hotels. If I had done more research on my own, I probably would have picked a hotel closer to the tourists. This hotel was a little far from the main attractions and it was uphill. This is my fault and obviously not the hotel’s fault. Otherwise, we loved this hotel.

Exceptional service, beautiful views
Pros:

We stayed for three nights, and I cannot recommend this hotel enough. My wife and I are on our honeymoon and we landed very early and were not able to get into our room. We waited only a few minutes as they rushed to get our room ready. Exceptional service, very hospitable. The rooftop garden is beautiful and has views of the whole city, including St. Peter’s basilica. The rooms were beautiful.

A GOOD HOTEL IN A PERFECT LOCATION
Pros:

The hotel is located in what I would say is the most perfect location. Not only for exploring all that Rome has to offer, both central and to the outskirts, but the choice of cafes and excellent restaurants in Via Flavia and around five minutes walk were exceptional. Via Flavia has a nice relaxing and energetic vibe. The room assigned was smaller than expected. In fact when the bellman knew the number of the room he replied "ah, the small room". Initially we did think about changing the room but we stuck with it (just check before hand) but it was cramped and did not allow for two of us to easily navigate the room at the same time. The bed was so comfortable and the room was very quiet and it looked onto Via Collina. We enjoyed three great nights of restful sleep. Staff at the reception were extremely helpful and friendly, although did not give enough time to support me trying my Italian. Once small issue - I checked in advance with the hotel website (via online chat) that bathrobes were provided by the hotel. On arrival and checking with reception we were informed the hotel does NOT provide bathrobes. Also the rooms lacked kettle and proper cups and saucers.

In summary, the hotel is comfortable for short stays and is located in the most perfect location with a great vibe and plenty of high quality informal restaurants (see additional reviews on these). The hotel is doing Roma proud.

Clean accommodation. Friendly staff.
Pros:

Good location. Clean. Friendly staff who were excellent throughout the stay. Decor dated in style. We had problems with the safe but staff sorted this as soon as it was reported.

Rooftop bar is lovely but incredibly expensive.

Fabulous hotel and location
Pros:

My friend and I stayed for three nights. I'll start with more very minor "niggles" . I had emailed the hotel before we arrived and requested a kettle and tea/coffee making facilities. This was provided but there were paper cups not a proper cup. My friend went to the restaurant and they were happy for her to take a cup, but then the cleaner took it. Please provide a proper cup!

Secondly, we had to leave early on our last day so went for breakfast at 7am. It was disappointing to be told we couldn't sit outside as it wasn't ready. Also the coffee machine was being cleaned and not all the food was out. I think everything should be ready at the time of opening.

So, niggles aside, this is a fantastic hotel. From the moment we checked in, the staff were warm and friendly. They answered our questions and called us taxis when we asked.

We had a room each. Mine was a single which was small ( as expected) but not cramped. Bed was soooo comfortable. Lovely bathroom and shower. Air con worked brilliantly.

We paid extra for breakfast. 15 euros each. Scrambled eggs were good. Plenty of selection including fresh fruit and cereals etc. Was lovely to sit on the rooftop. The flowers are lovely. There are 4 sunloungers up there and we spent our last afternoon relaxing and having a beer (9 euros).
The location is lovely. Quiet and felt safe. About a 20 minute walk to Trevi Fountain. There are numerous restaurants close by which was great as we didn't want to venture far after a day of sightseeing.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel . Thank you for a lovely stay.

Everything To Know
Pros:

Beautiful hotel with absolutely amazing staff. The hotel is located around a 20-30 minute walk from most central spots, making it feel a perfect balance of Rome without too many crowds or noise. We stayed in a Superior Double room which was modern, clean and comfortable. Fresh towels and bedding daily. Room included air conditioning, mini bar, and a code-locked safe. Rooftop bar has a lovely atmosphere on an evening to unwind after a busy day of sightseeing. Tourist tax is currently €7.50 per person per night, payable by card or cash.

You leave your key at reception when you go out - this is so staff know who is in the building in case of an emergency. This was reassuring due to risk of pickpocketing, however it does raise security questions of claiming the key back. We did not have to give our name or any proof to collect the key, just the room number which is visible from the front desk. Even to staff members we had not encountered before.

We had breakfast included which opened at 07:00 and was always fresh, clean and hot. I have coeliac disease and there was a small stand of Schar products, pre packaged and also fresh fruit. I avoided the buffet due to cross contamination risk. Most visitors use the same tongs across food and touch their plate items with them which is risky for those with an autoimmune condition or allergy. However, I chose not to bring this up personally as I was happy with a small breakfast. I assume if other gluten free guests requested a separate fresh plate to be cooked, the staff would likely do their best to accommodate.

Wonderful stay at Marcella Royal!!
Pros:

Fantastic hotel in an excellent location—close enough to Rome’s main attractions for easy sightseeing, yet far enough away to enjoy a quieter, less touristy atmosphere. We stayed for seven nights on a bed-and-breakfast basis and had a wonderful experience throughout.

Breakfast (and dinner) is served in the rooftop restaurant, which also features a superb terrace bar with stunning panoramic views across Rome. The breakfast was always fresh, well presented, and while some may feel the selection is not extensive, we found it more than sufficient and thoroughly enjoyable.

The staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and the service across all areas of the hotel was excellent. Our room was fairly basic, but spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We also had a lovely private balcony, although unfortunately the view overlooked the hotel’s inner walls and grounds, which was less appealing.

Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend Marcella Royal Hotel. Well done to Team Marcella Royal, and thank you for making our visit extra special. Rome, we loved you! ❤️
