Close to our destination, great choices for breakfast
Good breakfast including scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, juice, coffee etc. Good HVAC unit in the room. Window can be opened. Nice facilities.
A bit far from many sightseeing places
We stayed here over the weekend for a lacrosse tournament, and this was our fourth tournament in five weeks. By far, this was the nicest Choice Hotel we've stayed in.
From the outside, the hotel looked a little dated, but once we walked inside, it was clean, bright, and welcoming. We arrived around 11:00 a.m. and were pleasantly surprised that they allowed us to check in early. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and quick to help when we needed things like fresh batteries for the TV remote. The lobby and breakfast area also appeared to have been recently updated.
The only downside we noticed upon getting off the elevator was a very strong smell of marijuana in and around the stairwell / elevator area. It didn't bother our immediate family, but others in our group were disappointed as they asadvertise as a completely smoke-free and vape-free hotel.
Our room was clean, although it felt a bit muggy. The biggest challenge was the sleeping arrangements. The room had two double beds, which made sleeping two adults and two teenagers very cramped. If we stay here again, we'll definitely bring an air mattress. The room safe also didn't work it, wouldn't even open so we opted out of housekeeping during our stay. The sink being outside the bathroom was convenient, although the shower and toilet area itself was very small.
The pool area was nice overall but could use a little maintenance and a few more chairs inside the pool room. There was a large patio just outside with additional seating, but it wasn't very practical for those wanting to stay inside while watching swimmers.
I also used the fitness room. It's very small, with just one treadmill, one elliptical, one stationary bike, and an older weight machine that has definitely seen better days. The sanitizing wipes were completely dried out, so there wasn't really a way to wipe down equipment after use, although they did provide small towels.
Breakfast was better than expected. While the gluten-free and allergy-friendly options were somewhat limited, there were still choices including fresh fruit, two kinds of yogurt, cereal, bacon, eggs, potatoes, two waffle options, muffins, toast, coffee, milk, and juice.
Overall, we had a very good stay. Despite a few minor issues, the clean hotel, friendly staff, early check-in, and decent amenities made this a great choice. If we're back in the area for another tournament, I would absolutely stay here again.
