The Tranquilo Lodge

Our stay at Tranquilo Lodge was an absolute dream. Sebastien and Christophe are the most amazing hosts. Sebastien helped us plan out the best 4-5 day itenerary and was always around to help with anything we needed during our stay. The grounds are beautiful and maintained well and the view from the pool is absolutely stunning. The serving staff Cristina and Alex were so friendly and attentive. The Chef cooked up amazing lunches and lovely 3-4 course dinners. My wife and I look forward to coming back to Drake Bay to visit everyone at Tranquilo Lodge again in the future !

Amazing stay! We came here for our honeymoon, and it was the perfect choice.

One of the owners of the lodge, Sebastien, even picked us up and dropped us off at the airport himself. We were really impressed with this level of service! He and his partner, Christophe, were always so kind to us. Christophe even went above and beyond to help us get money back when we encountered a scam off of the resort.

All of our meals were incredible! It was really fun to be surprised at each meal with what was being served, and we never had anything we didn’t like.

They were very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed for our excursions and even walked us to the beach to make sure we got one the right boat.

One of our favorite experiences was walking to the beach with the lodge dog- Oro! Our first walk down, he was our guide! It was very impressive and adorable.

The honeymoon suite was amazing! It is off on its own, so you get a little extra privacy. The views are amazing too.

We would love to come back here again one day and would recommend this spot wholeheartedly.

Our stay in Costa Rica was absolutely magical! The views were breathtaking—every morning felt like waking up in paradise. The owners went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home, even accommodating my limited dietary needs with such thoughtfulness and care.

We stayed in the honeymoon suite, which was a perfect choice for a romantic getaway. The room was luxurious, and the attention to detail was outstanding. Our bed was remade twice a day and turned down each evening with a small candy left for us, which was an incredibly sweet touch.

One thing to note is that after arriving at the international airport, you need to take a smaller plane to reach the area. We were slightly unaware of this at first, but with a little planning, it’s perfectly fine. The lodge takes care of everything—they pick you up at the smaller airport right away and take you straight to the property. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink and snack, which was such a lovely and thoughtful way to start our stay.

The staff were all so kind and attentive. They were always on time and made everything seamless, from escorting us to our excursions to checking in daily to ensure our experience was exactly as we wanted. Having someone guide or accompany us to each activity added such a personal touch to the trip.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations. We felt so well cared for and genuinely appreciated. I would highly recommend this place to couples!

First off, the staff at this quaint lodge were hands down amazing. Enrique and Christina took care of all our food and beverage needs and then some! Silvia, the manager, handled all our other needs quickly and made us feel special! The cleaning crew made sure our room was like new every day! Christophe and Sebastian checked in with us daily to make sure everything was going smoothly for us. Christophe even hooked us up with the airport pickup upon our departure and overnight stay in San Jose before leaving Costa Rica. The food stole the show at this location! Unique dishes were presented at each lunch and dinner that combined locally grown foods with a healthy I’d say European flair! Outstanding ~ well done chefs! Even the desserts were a surprise!

If I could change anything about the stay it would have been the pillows and having a regular coffee maker in the room! I’m super picky about my pillow tho!!! And the European espresso machines are just not my thing! So really these are minor complaints and a matter of one’s personal taste!

Lastly, the property itself is set up high to afford an amazing view of the ocean. Birds are a plenty with Toucans landing on the trees above the pool area. We also got to see the humpback whales on our snorkel tour. If you are looking for a unique, personal experience in a lush location with an ocean view, this is your spot!

We had a phenomenal stay and I couldn't recommend this place more. Like everyone said, the food is incredible and some of (if not) the best food we've had in all of Costa Rica. Both the owners as well as the staff go over and beyond to make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. The villas are spacious, clean and luxurious. We went on two tours that were organised by the hotel, the snorkling one as well as one to Sirena national park - both of them incredible! Keep it up team Tranquilo :).

Wonderful garden and pool, very good food, friendly staff.
However: Unfriendly e-mail messages from the owners (nb their e-mails often only found in spam). Even after arrival at the hotel further e-mails from the absent owners despite normal communication with the staff. The final bill was paid by credit card on departure. Daily reminders follow to pay this amount again with paypal.

I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. I was picked up by Christophe at the airstrip and he was so friendly and welcoming. On arrival Sebastien welcomed me and they are just gorgeous. My bags disappeared to my room without me noticing whilst they started feeding me. The service, the environment, the rooms and the food are just exquisite. Nothing is too much. I loved this place and would love to go back again as I was in my happy place. Highly recommend 😍

Easily the most relaxing and beautiful place to stay in Drake. Christophe & Sebastian make sure you are completely looked after and the team are very attentive. The food is amazing. If you're looking for a relaxed remote get away, this is it! Wish I'd booked longer!

The property was beautiful. Out of the 6 places we stayed, this was our favorite! It was secluded and safe. The privacy of the rooms and front porches was amazing. The views, sunsets, and wildlife showed all Costa rica had to offer. The owners and staff were hands down the best part. You could tell how much they cared and loved what they do. The chef was the best!!! Make sure to visit Tranquilo when in Costa Rica.

We loved our stay. The staff was amazingly helpful in every way. We were among the treetops, so it was secluded, quiet, and we got to see the wildlife nearby. Bed was wonderful, food was delicious, and Christophe and Sebastian are incredible hosts! Thank you so much! If we every return to Costa Rica, this is where we'll stay!!

The Tranquilo Lodge is THE place to stay in Drake Bay! Sebastien, Christophe, Gonzalo and all staff we are so kind, accommodating, and full of information about the property and Drake Bay. The room was spotless, very well appointed, and so comfortable! And the food was absolutely incredible! Each meal was given so much attention, with each ingredient coming from the property. And the mixed drinks were absolutely delicious, thank you Gonzalo! They arranged all of our excursions, provided snacks, and even early breakfast when we had to be out by dawn. Such an amazing experience!

We had a fantastic time at Tranquilo lodge. The property doesn’t have many villas / rooms so we felt very well looked after at all times and Gonzalo in particular made sure we got to enjoy the amenities to the fullest. The hotel has a great hillside location with amazing view, dinners at sunset will be memorable. Christophe and Sebastian made sure that our trip including transit and excursions were as enjoyable as possible.

Tranquilo Lodge truly is a piece of heaven on earth. The expansive vistas are incredible, and the sunset is superb. The Chef produces delicious meals with locally sourced products and flavours that have you constantly salivating for the next course. And the staff, I honestly cannot compliment Lily, Gonzalo and Alexander enough, Lily is remarkable in her organizational skills and attention to the finest of details. Her passion and dedication to the Lodge and all it stands for, excellence on every level is exceptional. Her team follow her lead and rise above on all occasions. Gonzalo and Alexander compliment every occasion with their eagerness to provide the best service experience possible. The spa was a treat and to walk a deserted beach with local dogs and have the ocean to ourselves to swim in was fabulous, and an easy walk from Tranquilo. However the two beautiful onsite pools will make it difficult to want to make the short walk. The rooms are lovely and well appointed with dramatic views and great natural breezes. Having monkeys romp through the jungle surrounding the property and macaws flying overhead rounds up this exquisite property and experience. Please treat yourselves to this fabulous experience, you will be so glad you did.

Christophe and Sebastien, the warm and wonderful hosts and owners of the Tranquilo Lodge, were welcoming and accommodating even prior to my arrival. The hosts reached out through Expedia to make all necessary arrangements from dietary restrictions to booking all excursions that I was interested in. My reception at the Bahía Drake airport was perfect and the travel to the Lodge wonderful. Arrival at the Lodge exceeded my imagination - it was truly paradise. My stay only improved from there. The team at the Lodge welcomed me as though I was a part of their family. The Tranquilo team took care of all details and helped guide me providing all necessary information. The service at the lodge was spectacular. The Tranquilo is a clean, beautiful property. The team is warm, inviting and truly make you feel welcome. The views are spectacular. This is a place I plan to return to many times in my life. Thank you Christophe, Sebastien and your entire team!
