The tv connection did not work our entire stay even after calling to fix it. It is quite loud outside in the center of all the homeless people.
Location
There was a weird constant tapping noise above my room.
Oh man, where to start. I absolutely I loved this hotel! It was way beyond my expectations! The staff, including the manager Michelle, were exceptional and entertaining. The Harlow had a small but more than adequate cafe where the pricing was incredibly reasonable. One example was tequila, in my past three star hotel a single shot of tequila went for $16.00, here a double shot would have gone for $7.00 for a double, simply amazing. I am a single 73 year old man with a crippled back and just came off a six month trip to Europe and Africa and left California a couple of weeks later towards British Colombia to visit relatives, I am a very well traveled man that has stayed in hundreds of hotels. The Harlow stands up with the best including 4 and 5 star hotels. Go Michelle, you're doing a fantastic job! When in Portland save yourself some money and stay in a hotel situated in the hep Pearl District, the Harlow!
Nothing, there's nothing to complain about.
Close to Amtrak and public transportation.
Very friendly, kindness staffs.
The location is great, but parking in the next block costs you a bit more.
1) The night shift receptionist did not show up with a smile
2) The security deposit when you pay upfront before checking in
The building and facilities are very charming and comfortable. My accommodation was perfect for a solo traveler.
the receptionist was evidently not having a good day. He did not even hurt me just asked if I was checking in. No smile nothing.
The ease of access! By that I mean, ease to pull upfront, park (we did not overnight park) and use entry key, walk into an inviting contemporary lobby and hop on the elevator. We love Portland’s boutique hotels and all the amenities, but on this 2 day trip we just needed a place to get ready and then come back for a night’s rest. It served our needs and we supported another building restoration in downtown. This is a clean, safe, contemporary, no fuss hotel at a great price.
The blackout shade in bathroom- no way to pull up and looks like people had tried - so the shade was damaged. Maybe- need a different window covering for the floor to ceiling window. The extra light would be welcome in bathroom.
Well-designed hotel locates in a historical building. Comfortable and well-appointed room. Has a cafe with comfortable sofa who serving drinks and temporary working space 24-hour.
The staff checking us in were so friendly and made us feel so welcome. The room was so clean! There was no dust anywhere in the room! I absolutely loved staying here and will be back!
There isn't anything I didn't like.
Good value for the money, rooms are very comfortable and the staff is really friendly and nice. Good location to walk to the many restaurants, bars, etc. in the Pearl district.
Its in an old building, so the walls are thin and you can hear a lot of noise from the surrounding rooms and street. Also, there are a lot of people, some who appear to be homeless, that hang out in the park right outside the hotel who are up at all hours. It didn't feel unsafe, but it was loud at times. So if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat this may not be it.
This hotel was beautiful. I definitely did not expect it to have all the little details that made it feel upscale that it did. The room itself was clean, the bathroom felt spacious and luxurious. Definitely a great deal!!
I wish the parking situation was better, but I was able to find street parking directly across from the hotel which felt safe enough.
Friendly front desk. Nice bathroom
Location for pretty sketchy as a single woman. Carpet was disgusting.
Friendly check-in staff, rooms had wicked high ceilings, comfortable, and bathroom amenities did not skimp despite the pretty cheap price! I.e. towel warmer (you don’t even see that at 5 star hotels). There’s also a 24 hour cafe with a cozy atmosphere to do some work in.
The location. Quite gritty and a lot of homeless around.
