The Omni Hilton Head was a great spot for our family vacation. It was right on the beach and had gorgeous views. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable and had a little porch for us to sit on at night after putting our little one to bed. Our favorite part was the pool! There were three of them (one adults only) and they were heated- our daughter loved it. We were pleasantly surprised by how family friendly the hotel was! We definitely plan to go back for a longer stay so we can really enjoy everything the resort has to offer.
I do wish the hotel had been more accessible to outside shops and restaurants. The resort does offer a shuttle but we didn’t bother using it since we had our baby with us. If you wanted to check anything out outside of the resort, you pretty much had to drive. I also wish the beach chairs were complimentary/first come first serve. You had to reserve them but both days we walked on the beach, most of them were empty.
The view was poor, and thought i would be getting an ocean view, but had to pay extra $50 to move and get a semi ocean view.
Es war alles gut. Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Personal sehr freundlich
May look nice but all the details are handled poorly. garbage everywhere in the courtyard. Rooms were not thoroughly cleaned or rein stock the water or coffee. Restaurant utensils were not fully cleaned. checking-in or checking-out services lack professionalism, duplicated room charges showed on my card and unexpected food charges happened.
Overall is was OK. Nothing amazing. Not for this price. The staff seem overworked and uninterested in caring about anything. Not the level of service of other Omni's we stay at. The hotel was very busy and not accomodating to our requests for check-in and check-out until we called on managers. Staff didn't have the correct info about amenities including car chargers. There is no signage to help you navigate the resort.
The maintenance crew was busy painting railing during very busy times on Friday and Saturday leading to people getting paint on them. Seems poorly planned. The friday night wedding info signs were still up on Sunday - poor attention to detail.
The common areas were sloppy, the pool was very dirty and I stepped on a large screw with a bolt attached in the pool. The breakfast dishes from the HH Prime were left on outside tables through 4pm and attracting bugs. The lobby water and tea were disgusting- bitter and old tasting. The food offerings were ok. It was very difficult to get a menu for the Buoy Bar and staff was ok not helpful. The Breeze bar was not open making people either depend on a very buy wait staff member or walk over to the Buoy bar to endure the useless staff who can't find a menu. Many people were unhappy with this. The hotel was packed with people and you have one outdoor area for food???
Our room was very nice. The grounds are nice, but need care.
I actually loved the property! It was the staff that put me uncomfortable positions.
The staff.
This resort takes your experience very seriously. The grounds, common areas, pool, and gathering spaces are well-kept and maintained daily. The rooms are joined via corridors that are open-air, so even stepping out of your room reminds you that you're at the beach. The mattress, sofa, and all of the furniture felt supportive and comfortable. However, the best thing about this hotel was the staff. They are everywhere and they are genuinely friendly and cordial.
Stay was fine until I was locked out of my room after paying for late checkout. Only words from front desk were "oh, you asked for late checkout?". No, I paid for it and went out of my way to double check with the front desk about it the night before. Still got locked out. Turned a nice stay and a new perspective on Omni into a negative. Will stick with brands that don't screw things up, especially things I paid for that I get for free at other places.
We stayed at the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort and overall had a good experience—it just depends on what you’re looking for.
If you’re expecting a luxury, high-touch resort with poolside service and standout dining, this probably isn’t it. But if you want a family-friendly place right on the beach, it works well.
The rooms were a highlight—recently remodeled, spacious, and very cute (Serena & Lily coastal vibe). Ours had a kitchenette (but very small fridge) and double sinks, which made getting ready with kids much easier. Housekeeping came daily and was consistent.
The pool area felt a little outdated and not as clean as I expected. Food options on the property are limited—the market is great for grab-and-go breakfast, snacks, ice cream, and even pizza, but beyond that, you’ll likely want to leave the resort for meals. It was also surprising there’s no real beachfront dining option other than the pool bar.
For the beach setup, we’re used to resorts where chairs and umbrellas are already set up, and staff take you to your spot with towels ready—this did not have that. You can rent chairs through the city (more expensive, but they handle setup), or use the hotel’s chairs and carry/set them up yourself.
Service overall was fine, not especially warm or over-the-top, but the concierge out front was great. The gift shop was also a pleasant surprise—really cute and well curated.
Overall, it’s a clean, updated, easy beach stay for families—just go in knowing it leans more relaxed and practical than truly luxurious.
Clean and comfortable , family friendly with a touch of class. We loved Omni and the location was great. Beautiful pool areas and the beach was nice and clean. The staff was top notch and we never had any issues at all.
Clean property and well maintained .Most of the staff is good but there are few rude disgruntled ones .
Some staff is rude especially the bar tender at the pool restaurant .
We recently stayed at the Omni Hilton Head and had a really frustrating experience with the pool situation that I think management needs to take more seriously.
The resort advertises a “no chair reservation” policy, but in reality, it’s not enforced at all. Every morning, by early hours, the majority of chairs are already “claimed” with towels, bags, or random personal items, yet no people are actually there. In many cases, those chairs sit empty until 10:00 to 11:00am while other guests are left circling the pool with nowhere to sit. With kids in tow, that’s especially difficult and honestly takes away from what should be a relaxing vacation experience.
What was even more disappointing is that we raised this issue with multiple employees throughout our stay. Each time, we were told it would be addressed, but nothing ever changed. There was no visible enforcement, no staff clearing unattended items, and no communication to guests about the policy. It gave the impression that the rule exists on paper only.
The property itself is beautiful and there are many positives, but the pool chair situation became a daily source of stress and frustration. It’s not unreasonable to expect that if a policy is in place, it should be consistently enforced.
I would strongly encourage management to actively monitor the pool area in the mornings, remove unattended items after a set period of time, and ensure all guests have fair access to seating. Until then, this issue significantly detracts from the overall experience.
We stayed at the Omni/Hilton Head resort from 3/17-3/25. On the 20th we noticed dredging down the beach. The weather was very cold/ rainy and we had to wear winter coats to walk. So we weren’t on the beach long. But I took pictures and asked the staff everyday since it was approaching the hotel. They all said it wasn’t coming to the hotel. But it was obvious they were. I have pictures dating when half the beach was cut off, then the entire beach. They worked at nights with lights on. I asked one supervisor and she said we would go day to day, on credits, and gave me one free night at any Omni. I told her that even if they had no control over what the city did, they did have control over how they responded. Another gentlemen gave us some off our room just for 3 days. We had one of the most expensive rooms. To be able to see the beach.
We will never go back. I feel like we stayed for two weeks and they should have gone overboard to keep our business. My son was also there for a week while we were there. We were looking forward to making memories with my granddaughter on the beach.
If you have a resort with a beach and no one can accesss it, you owe your customer a solution that isn’t an insult.
We also found out as we talked to other people that there was no consistent resolution for people. Different discounts given to different people. I think that’s bad business. The staff was stresssed out. They saw a situation coming their way and had no plan. I would ask everyday, getting different answers and sometimes they were rude. Saying they had no control. Maybe not. But as I said they did have control over how they handled people who saved for a relaxing beach vacation.
We booked the Oceanview King Suite and the room was 10/10 and our view was just like in the photos. I loved the aesthetics of the entire hotel.
The pool area is great, very similar to the Omni Championsgate Orlando, just a smaller venus.
We were there early March just before the spring break crowd hit. Our first two nights (Thursday and Friday) we appeared to be nearly the only people there. People started checking in on Saturday and the pool area was much more crowded.
The cafe has some good options and decent prices, but could benefit from some additional choices for both fresh food as well as sundries. Skip hh for dinner - they apparently think quite highly of themselves for a hotel restaurant, if their prices indicate anything. We did not eat there for dinner; way too many great spots on the island far cheaper and with much better views and atmosphere! We did eat the breakfast buffet on our last day as we had a resort credit needing to be used. It was great for a buffet. No complaints. Can't speak to any of the other venues as they were not yet open or we didn't utilize them.
If you are looking for an upscale hotel on the island vs a house/condo, this is a choice that won't disappoint. The rooms are far larger and have a very spacious kitchenette compared to any other upscale hotel I looked at. I almost went with the Westin, but I'm so glad I didn't. I've never had a bad experience at an Omni, and we will definitely be returning!
