While the property is aging the location cannot be beat and the amenities are superb. I definitely rate it higher than the Sonesta.
The outside breezeways are slightly problematic. Kids voices carry and I was descended upon by a swarm of bugs tried to fly in my mouth and one night my dress hem ushered mosquitos to my ankles.
The Omni in Hilton Head never disappoints. My mom and I went over Mothers Day weekend and very much enjoyed our stay. We had great meals - especially at HH Prime! We’ll definitely be back!
We had an absolutely perfect summer family vacation at the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort. From the moment we arrived, everything felt easy, welcoming, and well thought out. The resort is beautiful, the beach access is incredible, and the pool area was perfect for relaxing, playing, and enjoying the sunshine as a family.
What made the stay even better was how dog-friendly the resort was. Being able to bring our dogs along and have them feel just as welcome made the trip even more special. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our stay, and every part of the experience felt comfortable and enjoyable.
Between the beachfront location, the amazing pools, the family-friendly atmosphere, and the ability to include our dogs, this was truly the ideal summer vacation spot. Everything was perfect, and we cannot wait to come back.
Great stay at Omni Hilton Head Island Resort. The room was awesome, the drinks were really good, and the overall vibe made for a relaxing trip.
Clean
Nothing
Love the location and all of the hotel amenities. Staff is always so nice and extremely accommodating. Even accommodated late check out so that we could do a kayak tour the morning of check out. Free cold bottled water by the pool is EXTREMELY nice and necessary, thought most places would try to charge you for it I'm sure. Love having lunch or dinner by the pool, and everything was delicious! Multiple pools to choose from, having smores at the fire pits, ping pong table and giant chess in the court yard are all really nice amenities for families!
The pricing of the some of the options. $5 for a cup of coke by the pool is insane. $6 for a tiny box of cereal in the palmetto market is just way too expensive. I really didn't want to leave the hotel to go the grocery store, but for cereal and milk we did and saved more than just a few bucks.
It would also be nice if there was some included breakfast options.
Many resort sponsored activities, extremely family friendly main pool area, AND a seperate dedicated adult space. We've stayed here several times and thw staff is consistently excellent, this trip in particular had vibrant and helpful staff even above an exceptional baseline.
None
Beautiful and lush. Beach was excellent. Rooms were great with a nice balcony.
Service at the main restaurant was a little slow. They appeared to be under staffed.
Hotel and location were very nice. Room and facilities were clean and well maintained. Food variety and quality could be better.
Did have an issue with a rather large roach in our room. Not happy with guest marking their chairs at pools by placing towels long before coming to the pool.
BEWARE: This place is a complete “bait & switch”. When hotels charge $500+ per night, that comes with certain guest expectations that this Omni is not capable of achieving. . This place gives majorTime Share vibes rather than “luxury”. My guess is it probably was one at one point.
Property/Resort/Amenities:
- The rooms and buildings just looks tired and cheap. Compared to The Inn & Club at Harbor Town (marginally more than omni), it makes this omni seem like a scam.
- The A/C in the room is locked to some ungodly level such that if you’re used to sleeping in the low 70s or less, you will not sleep and just be hot and miserable the whole night. That thermostats are so old you can’t even deploy the savvy traveler tricks
- The pools are actually well laid out and “nice”. I do like that they have an Adult pool but it’s all shaded.
- Nice to be right on the beach and the beach is beautiful
- Lots of different eateries and bars on property
- Overall, this property just isn’t anywhere near the price point they’re charging.
Service:
- Sure, everyone’s nice, but the actual service is non-existent. We were celebrating our anniversary and I’d been reaching out to the property for a month trying to book things like an airport transfer, florals, helicopter tour, golf, spa day, and several other amenities. They would email me back saying “you have to call this number we can’t help you”, I responded saying I’m trying to be discreet so an email would be greatly appreciated, they ghosted me. Night before getting there I find a time to slip away and call, I got connected with Paulette who was an absolute delight to work with. She actually cared and wanted the best experience for us. Sadly, she’s the only one. So, nothing got booked. I had to book a car service myself. I had to arrange the florals and delivery myself. This property just really does not give a rip about their guests at all.
- We had an issue with our room service order. Items did not match the description on the menu and their “double double” burger, run run away fast as you can…. Anyway, I called down to let them know this wasn’t acceptable and I could just tell there was zero motivation on their end to make it right. None. Zip. Zero.
- The servers at the pool are pretty on it and nice (likely a big revenue driver for the property).
- Overall, it was just crystal clear that this property and staff just don’t have any training or management in hospitality. They do not care at all about your satisfaction. Again when you compare it to places like the inn and club at harbor town, the Omni is a joke.
In summary: If this place was <$280/night I’d say it was a decent hotel. But this place for >$500/night, what a complete joke. We immediately called our travel agent and had them get us the heck out of there and into The Inn & Club Harbor Town and we are SO happy now. Avoid this place like the plague. I’m shocked it’s rated as highly as it is on here.
The service was excellent
Trash was in parking lot near bike rack was untouched for days
Unfortunately very expensive for poor experience. Moved rooms at check in without telling us, stating it was an upgrade to move to a double queen room despite having reservation for king room. Room was musty smelling and air conditioner didn’t work. They attempted to fix a/c during our stay but still didn’t change room temperature. Pool was nice, staff at pool were great. Unsure if I would return to stay again.
Felt like we were in the Caribbean. Big beautiful room with no charge for the crib.
All was great!
Very very nice family friendly facility. Good for all age ranges.
We had a 1 bedroom with view of the pool. Was out at the pool first thing in the morning with our toddler who loved it and we loved the conveniece.
restaurants need a real chefs chicken was served raw and steak house was terrible we seen the person next to us get a lobster tail and it was raw she sent it back and we were scared to order anything had few drinks and appetizer's. The following night we were served raw chicken. It seems to the outdoor area is under construction and booking a ocean front suite and hearing electric saw and hammering had to leave doors on the balcony closed shame on you Omni
Location, set up of the property, the staff
The elevators were unstable and dirty
No ventilation in the bathroom
beautiful property , 3 pools with phenomenal servers, great food options, excellent service, super friendly staff clean beach. Our refrigerator wasn't working initially, and it was repaired in minutes by the most friendly and helpful hotel engineering guy. Very comfortable bedding, housekeeping staff was great.
the adult pool was not clean 1st day leaves and debris floating around, 2nd day pool water just cloudy. It was not enough to deter me from swimming and enjoying myself thoroughly but for a luxury property like this, it was not expected.
Great location, good outdoor facilities . Great service and friendly employees. Restaurant and bar are in serious need of updating .
Beautiful resort, great location but food and service a sub-par. Too expensive for what you get. Room was nice, staff was okay. Food left a lot to be desired.
