No problems with this hotel. The staff were great, cheery and helpful, good breakfast and clean rooms. Gets a thumbs up from us. Would definitely stay here again.
Clean well appointed rooms, lovely friendly staff, great breakfast very competative prices. Great location close to the beach but far enough away from the noisy bars at night. Only negative point is the decor is a bit tired.
Would recommend to friends.
A scruffy hotel with out of date info in the rooms. Breakfast was included but apparently a full English is extra.
My daughter woke up during the night to a leak from the ceiling falling directly on her feet in bed so ended up having to share a single bed with her mate as the room was so small there was nowhere to push the bed away from the leak. When I went to complain this morning I was told maintenance would look into it. I sent a message after we left and still have t had a response. Not ideal and I’d like a refund.
All great 👍
Nice and clean hotel with very helpful staff.
Breakfast fresh no beach view.
Needs alot of TLC. Staff don't seem interested or at least don't understand how a bar should operate as drinks are served flat and taste of beer is off.
Looking at the back of the hotel it looks in bad state with rusted fire escapes and a broken gate with brambles obstructing the actual exit.
Not badly priced, as you get continental breakfast, but the option to purchase hot cooked breakfast is not appealing in the photo illustrations. No options to purchase additional food other than the set breakfast. Having said that, the staff at breakfast were nice.
The back office looks shoddy (behind the service desk).
Staff were polite & very good & the cooked breakfast was very nice
The hotel is bright and well decorated. Big room with comfortable bed and ample size bathroom.
Lovely relaxing bar area and a lovely restaurant serving breakfast.
Plenty of choice at breakfast
An older style hotel, which I prefer. Quite well maintained, and the price is reasonable, so dont expect super modern luxury. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is good, pay a small supplement for the full English. A repeat stay for me.
brilliant hotel . good food and comfy rooms .staff very professional the lady who served breakfast was very attentive we will be back in a heart beat without a doubt bravo clarendon we all enjoyed our stay
I recently stayed during a business trip.
Firstly, I’d like to commend you on the room—it was clean, comfortable, and met all expectations. I had no issues at all in that regard.
However, I was disappointed with the breakfast offering. The continental selection was extremely limited, with no fresh coffee or porridge available, and I ultimately ended up having just some toast. Fortunately, I had brought my own coffee, which helped somewhat.
Given that my company had paid for a bed and breakfast package, I was surprised to find that a cooked breakfast came at an additional cost—particularly as what was on offer did not appear especially appetising.
The hotel was okay and had parking but disappointed having to pay £5.50 extra for a full English breakfast, it didn’t show on Hotels.com it was only continental. More information is needed on the website! Food was also not offered in the evening. I ticked for restaurants when searching for hotels. I had to walk to a local pub to get food.
It’s not an expensive or lavish hotel but the rooms are clean and reasonably decorated, beds comfortable. Upgrade from complimentary breakfast to a very good, freshly cooked full English for just £5.50 .
I arranged to visit my family & searched for hotels where I came across this one, from the pictures it looked really nice so I booked it, on the website it gives you the option to book by room number and as I needed x2 rooms I made sure we was next to each other. When we arrived at the hotel I checked in. one of the rooms I booked we didn’t get allocated and instead they ended up on the top floor, then things got worse from there, in one room, we had a cracked sink in the bathroom & at the back of the toilet there was a big hole where you could see some stone, then the TV remote was so unhygienic you couldn’t touch it, it’s never been cleaned, the carpet had marks all over that I felt it was necessary to wear my flip flops & finally curtains hanging off there track but not only that it’s not the full width of the window. The second room again had the same issue with the curtain, Later on when we came back from visiting family we went and got a drink at the bar once we sat down you couldn’t help but notice all the marks all over the chairs. I’m no snob but it clearly is in need of some repairs and tidying up. After our first night we asked each other the next morning if we was ok however the second room complained of a drunken woman shouting and swearing near there room, this then happened the second night too. At the moment I feel that I won’t be visiting again.
The hotel is clean enough and the staff are pleasant. We stayed in a deluxe double room. There was absolutely nothing I would describe as deluxe about this room. The shower was pathetic, just a trickle. The ceiling had patches of mould above the bath. The sea view was nice but the window was small and the sill needed painting. The breakfast was ok but would benefit from some decent sausage
The location of the hotel is convenient, but unfortunately, the cleanliness is far below an acceptable level.
As someone who works in the hotel industry myself, I understand how crucial proper hygiene standards are — and the lack of cleanliness here was truly shocking. The towel had visible stains, the electric kettle was dirty inside, and many surfaces, including countertops and storage containers, were covered in dust and grime. Running a finger across the furniture left it visibly dirty.
The carpet was stained, the ventilation fan was full of dust and cobwebs, and there was mold and peeling paint in the corners. Even one of the sofa pillows had a visible stain — something that should never be overlooked in guest accommodations.
What made the experience even more disturbing was the fact that someone was sleeping on the sofa on the second floor during the night and early morning hours. This made us feel very uncomfortable and raised serious concerns about security and guest management.
Unless serious improvements are made to both hygiene and guest supervision, I cannot recommend staying at this hotel.
Only stayed for one night but bedroom was spacious and comfortable with all amenities I needed. Good selection for breakfast.
Staff are friendly and helpful. They clearly work hard to keep this place afloat, but it's a tired hotel in need of refurbishment. Would have been OK but we stayed on a Saturday night, which meant 'Kev's Karaoke' blasting out tuneless nonsense from the hotel basement until midnight. Impossible to sleep through. So don't book on a Saturday unless you love Karaoke, or are hard of hearing. Cheap prices though, and cooked breakfast (£5.50 supplement) was decent.
