Comfort Inn & Suites Coralville - Iowa City near Iowa River Landing

Room was in desperate need of repairs - caulk around toilet and shower in bad shape, needed paint and wall areas fixed, shade on light had damage

I arrived early to ask a question about my stay. No one was at the front desk area, despite me waiting for several minutes to talk to someone. The staff I did see, said they did not speak English.
Staff could have been more available at the front desk.

The front desk attendant greeted us by complaining about children and cursing in front of our young son, and our room was filthy, with hair on the bedding, unidentified stains on the curtains, chair, and walls, and discarded contact lenses on the floor. I immediately searched for another hotel near our event, but everything was booked; later, at 11 p.m., after an hour of constant stomping and running overhead, the attendant asked ME to confront the guests myself when I lodged a complaint. The next morning, staff knocked at 8 a.m. and incorrectly told us checkout was 9 instead of the posted 11 a.m., and was trying to come into our room… then another employee knocked and entered at 9:45 asking to collect our linens and trash because they were short-staffed, leaving us feeling pressured to pack up and leave early after he helped himself inside and began hurriedly taking linens off our beds while we awkwardly stood there. It was an absolutely awful experience.

The room smelled like it has not been used in a long time very musty

It was dirty. The breakfast area and hallways were filthy.

Everything!! Rigjt when we walked in place looked sketchy. The pool looked discusting like the water was filled with jell. When we walked into our room it smelled so humid and foul smell place was dirty room was dirty had alot of mold in the shower head and ceiling the door didnt even fully lock to our room microwaive did not heat there was hair on the sheets. Me and my daughter emded up getting real sick when we got back home from the mold she ended up catching pink eye. Very bad experience over all!!!

Old facility. The bathrooms were antiquated, worn and rust spots on the faucets.

No safety lock on the door and hotel employee walked in when I got out of the shower and was naked. Scary elevator. This building is very old and out of date. Desperately needs maintenance. Smells like an 80s motel on the side of a highway. No remote in the Room. Shower faucet handle fell off when I was adjusting the temp. They put random pieces of folded containers under the tv stand to even it out.

Front desk staff spoke too much about the negatives of the property and needs more customer service training/coaching. We were told the rooms were over booked, checked a "spare" room - was told it had mold. Couldn't upgrade us without owner approval. Finally called for owner approval, to then put us in a sized room that we booked. Which my husband found mold in. Immediately got switched to another room that was the same size that didn't have mold. The first room had blood on the comforter. Smelled weird and could tell someone attempted to spray the smell away. Very overwhelming. The second room was much cleaner but the chairs were very worn still and the curtains had large holes in them.

My main concern were the ceiling peeling off and shower needs touch up in or room. The hallway and elevator need work along with outside maintenance. The curb appeal is awful.
