Un peu excentré
In a bit of a hectic time (holidays and a baby on the way in 3 weeks) the thought of a baby moon celebration might have slipped my mind. Luckily The Cliffside Inn was here to make it look like I had been planning it for the last 8 months! From Bethany welcoming us in with a smile and tour of the beautiful main house to the exceptional amenities the Atlantic Suite offered, the stay was exactly what we needed. The whirlpool tub with fireplace by it's side was without a doubt our favorite feature, but the sunrise over First Beach visible from our window was a close second. As someone who has worked at two of Newport's most renowned hotels, the Chanler and the Castle Hill Inn, I can attest that the Cliffside Inn is on the same level of hospitality experiences as both of those properties. Thank you again, we will back with another addition to our family soon!
The staff were outstanding. They saw to our every need. The facility was great. The room was comfortable and spacious. I would highly recommend the Cliffside to everyone.
Nothing
Katy was an excellent host and resource. The breakfast was excellent with many choices. Always snacks and extra beverages. Exciting experiences! Loved the beautiful ambiance of the place and its history!
It was perfect for us!
I am hesitant to share how great the property is in fear I will have a harder time booking our favorite room! JoJo and the staff are amazing in every way and hard to ask for more...
My husband and I stayed at The Cliffside in December for 2 nights. I was pleasantly surprised to hear our room was ready several hours before the 4pm check in. Noting that the front of the inn had 2 diamond Michelin Key placards was impressive. Katie, who welcomed us could not have been lovelier. She was warm and welcoming and provided a small, brief tour of the main floor. I was impressed that Katie offered to carry our suitcase up the 2 flights of stairs to our room (husband is physically limited due to MS. The room was beautiful and appointed very nicely. We required assistance with the fireplace but Katie came right up to help. Being a Michelin star inn I was not surprised that Katie responded quickly to this need.
It was in the late afternoon while we were napping that prompted our acute awareness of what exactly to expect for an Inn (aka a B&B). Other guests started arriving and we heard EVERY word spoken upon checking for each guest. It was very disturbing for several hours for the check in of every guest being brought to their room without the consideration of other guests to maybe whisper or use lower voices to show respect and hospitality to other guests. These houses, while beautiful, are old with very little insulation resulting in hearing every door close- both the front door and each door and closet the housekeeper repeatedly open/closed all afternoon. Full fled conversations were had in the hallway throughout the afternoon and evening. Someone should really advise the housekeeper to hold the doorknob while closing each door instead of allowing the doors and closets to close on their own. I would suggest a warm gently written reminder in the hallways throughout the house for guests (and staff) to keep voices low to respect the environment of other guests. Not Michelin standards.
Our bathrooms sink water spout was loose and falling forward. There were multiple area of chipped porcelain around and in the sink requiring repair. There were multiple dents and chipped paint on the bathroom door that stood out. Not Michelin standards.
Both my husband and I had a difficult time sleeping for several reasons; first, the pillows were very big, and very thick, and again we heard guests entering and getting settled into their rooms into late into the evening. The guests above us had little to no regard for guests beneath them. The banging and loud heels all evening was unbelievably disruptive to a peaceful evening. Again, a gentle reminder to guests upon check would go a long way, or put down more rugs .to provide cushion between floors. Not Michelin standards.
I had reached out via text provided by the.
staff if they by chance had smaller, thinner pillows. The response was “No, that’s all we have”. Ok then. Not Michelin standards.
The morning we left there had been a snow storm the night before and it was still snowing. I was surprised to see the main kitchen floor was covered in water dragged in on people’s shoes. This should have been tended to by
staff. Additionally, the front steps were covered in snow and not salted. Further, as a Michelin Key location, guests scheduled for departure should have had their expectations exceeded by wiping off their car, and at the very least the property entry shoveled and salted. This should have been taken care of. Not Michelin standards.
Again, this Inn is beautiful, esthetic and the breakfast and welcome were delightful, but I was very, very surprised at the significance of oversights and opportunities not taken advantage of to exceed guest’s expectations by a noted Michelin Key property.
We will not be returning. I do not require a response.
Außergewöhnlich und wunderbare Zimmer in einem liebevoll ausgestatteten historischen Haus
My wife and I stayed here for three nights. The staff, the accommodations and services were all incredible. The staff were very friendly and helpful in making sure our stay was as nice as possible. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The happy hour (wine and appetizers) was first class. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. The gas fireplace in the room and spacious and modern bathroom made the room extra special. The gas fire pit outside was a perfect place to enjoy the fall air and read a book or at night enjoy some wine. You are very close to the Cliff Walk and also downtown restaurants.
Thank you, Cliffside Inn, we will be back!
Cute property, with free parking and just next to cliffside walking trail. They offer free snacks every evening and nice breakfast. Room is good size.
Old Victorian property. Interesting decor and paintings by Beatrice Turner whose house it was previously.
Very expensive with minimal offerings. No restaurant, breakfast was limited choice. The inn is half an hour walk into the town..
