La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Sandusky near Cedar Point

I recently traveled to Sandusky for my daughter’s softball tournament. This hotel was chosen by the team for its location and previous “decent” reviews. How incredibly wrong they were. Check in was easy enough and the front desk friendly. However once we got in the room that all changed.

The room was filthy. The sofa couch had stains all over it. The floors had crumbs from the previous occupants all over, the fridge door was broken, the TV’s didn’t work beyond the Home Screen, and the bed sheets had stains and hair all over them. Originally I didn’t make a fuss, I just asked the front desk kindly for new sheets which I would put on myself. The new sheets were dirty and the wrong size!

I went back to the front desk and explained my frustration asking for new CLEAN sheets that fit the bed in the room. I asked that if I were to checkout early due to the state of the room would I get my prepaid rate back, I was told yes by the attendant.

I went back the next day after my daughter pointed out mold in the shower to inform them of my intent to leave early. The attendant asked me to come the following morning to speak with the property manager who could also assist with the refunding and early checkout.

When I finally returned to checkout at the time requested they didn’t even have a front desk attendant, only a kitchen staff who was preparing the buffet for that morning who insisted he was unable to do anything because that was “above his pay grade”.

The staff was misleading and the hotel was filthy. I don’t usually leave negative reviews but if I can spare a family out there the experience I had, I’ll have done my part.

We stayed here for one night when we went to Cedar Point. It was disgusting. We were greeted with an odd orange slime ball on the window. The sofa bed had USED sheets left on it. After getting new one from the front desk and taking off the USED ones, there were disgusting stains all over the mattress. Put the new sheets on it, only to discover that it was unusable. No human being, kid or adult could be comfortable on it. Room 116 should not be sold as a t person room. After a full day at the park, my daughter was left to sleep on sofa cushions on the floor. Tub did not drain and appeared dirty. Side door did not close/lock properly which is a safety concern. Breakfast area was filthy. I would never stay here again. The only bright spot was the nice lady that worked at the front desk.

Unfortunately, it was one of the most unsanitary hotel rooms we have ever encountered.

Upon entering the room, we found numerous cleanliness and maintenance issues, including:

* Soap scum covering the bathtub.
* Mold throughout the bathroom.
* Dried urine on the toilet.
* A leaking mini refrigerator.
* Hair all over the bedding.
* Shoe prints on the comforter.
* Spills and drips running down the walls.
* Dust covering nearly every surface.
* Dried red sauce on the desk chair.
* Crumbs, hair, and what appeared to be mouse droppings on the floor.
* Cobwebs hanging from the ceiling.
I felt I had no choice but to use my own disinfecting wipes to clean the room's surfaces before we could feel somewhat comfortable staying there. We contacted the front desk and requested clean sheets so we could change the beds ourselves. To our disbelief, the replacement sheets were also stained and covered with hair.

The condition of this room fell far below even the most basic standards of cleanliness and was completely unacceptable. Guests should never have to clean their own accommodations or worry about sanitation when staying at a hotel.

I hope you will investigate how a room in this condition was deemed ready for guests.

This La Quinta in Sandusky was absolutely disgusting and one of the worst hotel stays I have ever had. The room was filthy, with a dead roach in it (see attached), which is unacceptable anywhere and completely ruined the stay. The photos online do not match the actual rooms at all, what we got looked nothing like what was advertised and felt misleading from the moment we walked in.

The pool was underwhelming, and the noise at night made everything worse. A Loud party went on late, with no real sense of peace or control, so there was basically no way to relax or sleep. Between the dirty room, the false advertising, and the nonstop noise, this place was a disaster. I would never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Bloew average cleanliness throughout our weeks stay. Went 3 days without hot water and couldnt shower. Outdoor areas like lighting, fireplace etc not working all week with no attempt to fix. No comforter on bed, used a mattress cover wrapped in a fitted sheet as a replacement. No fruit put out for the entire week. Pool cloudy with slick walls. Reported issues many times but nothing fixed.

Staff are incredibly friendly and clearly work hard and do their best 24/7

The staff were amazing. Very nice & friendly.

The bed was okay and the air conditioning worked well.

Other than the staff in the office I really don't anything to comment on what I liked.
