The bar next door
Room was dark and dingy. No balcony, door was not able to open. No key for safe in room. Unable to use and wss told to put do not disturb sign on door. No secure place to store valuables. Only supply water to new arrivals was told when I requested a bottle.
Very nice and historical place. Rooms are very clean and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The bar is very quaint and inviting. This was my 2nd time to stay there and I will definitely be returning.
It was close to functions we did. The parking staff and clerk at counter were very helpful and courteous.
Could of been a little cleaner and the pool needed cleaning.
Location is conveniently near many shops, restaurants, and activities.
Facility was in rough shape. Worn out carpet in hallways, musty smell in thr bedrooms. Shower never got warm and the bath tub fixture that looked like it was falling out of the wall left a big puddle on the floor. Fabric headboard was dirty with stains.
Location
It was dirty. Carpets sticky. Walls had water running down. No hot water in morning for shower
The staff were so friendly and helpful. The location is great and we loved May Bailey’s next door.
The carpet in my room was really dirty. It either needs to be thoroughly cleaned or replaced preferably the latter. The room lighting was poor. Half my lamps didn’t work.
Each staff member greeted us in a friendly manner and readily interacted each time we engaged them.
When we arrived to our room on the first night, the carpet in the entry way was wet enough to cause our socks to become noticeably wet. The next morning the carpet had dried considerably but was still damp. Unsure if the ac had caused the wetness or not. The carpet remained damp the rest of our stay.
Everything went well for the most part. Location, especially, is the best.
The television didn't work for my seven day stay. I always complain at every hotel that the toilet paper should be better. You use less of the more expensive rolls, so your cost shouldn't be any more.
Location
Needs updated
It was nice and comfortable and very close to everything
We booked the Superior King Carriage House, which is supposed to be the nicest room in the hotel.
PROS: location and acceptably clean.
CONS:
Hotel is bare-bones basic. If you're looking for any kind of luxury, this is not for you.
The staff is not great and ultimately sealed the deal for us not to return. When we checked in, the guy at the front desk was extremely slow, failed to give us our room number, and sent us to go look for it "on the ground floor." There are about 10 rooms on the ground floor AND as it turns out our room was actually not on the ground floor at all, so we ended up wandering aimlessly upon checkin until we returned to the lobby and asked for clarification. Not a great start but if this was the only issue we wouldn't have been bothered. Unfortunately, it wasn't.
When we got to the room, the safe did not work. If you stay here, you'll understand why a safe is important. The rooms open directly to the outside and it's pretty easy for someone to just walk into the Courtyard and break into a room. We reported the broken safe twice. Both times we were told a replacement would be provided. It never came.
Housekeeping also failed us. They cleaned our bathroom but for some reason failed to make our bed or touch anything else in the room.
At random times, including the middle of the night, there was some mechanical thing going on (maybe the outside AC unit) that caused the entire room to violently and loudly shake. (We saw no evidence of supernatural activity, unless this somehow counts).
What really sealed the deal for us was being lied to by the "manager" upon checkout. We asked for a late checkout and were quoted a fee. I asked if the fee could be waived given the issue with the safe and housekeeping. In response, the woman at the front desk, who claimed to be a manager, rudely told us that the safe was not supposed to work, that it had a key, and that the hotel doesn't let guests use the safe. This was such an absurd lie that it left a terrible taste in our mouths. The hotel clearly advertises a safe as an amenity, there is a safe in the room, and it is electronic (doesn't have a key). She was clearly saying whatever first popped into her head to avoid waiving the late checkout fee. We don't appreciate being brazenly lied to by the hotel staff.
We would not stay here again, despite the fantastic location.
If you are there to party & see downtown, it’s a great location. Staff was very nice & helpful!
Extremely loud/noisy ALL night long. Once the music quieted, the trash trucks & street cleaning begins. The photos online are of updated, nice rooms. Our room was very old, run down & dirty. There were someone else’s clothes still on the floor at the head of the bed, along with some green feathers all in plain sight. At the foot of the bed was cigarette butts, & there were stains on the faux suede headboards. There was only one electrical outlet we could use to plug our phones in b/c the others were falling out of the wall or the plug was so loose it wouldn’t stay plugged in.
