WHen we checked in... Avery was a true professional. She was great. Once we got in the rooms we received texts from her and followed up later. She is one I certainly would hire. Avery was great!
The next AM you had a young lady behind the desk that never looked up. Never smiled or acknowledged us as we left. A weird contrast.
We have come to prefer staying at Graduate hotels in any town that has them, even if we have no business with the Universities they are associated with. The hotels are always clean, comfortable, and staffed by friendly students. Front desk staff went out of their way to recommend great places to eat as well as printing out something for me that I needed. Truly outstanding service.
The decor is locally themed and unusual. Most places have a great coffee counter (Poindexters) to get your morning Joe and this one even had a rooftop bar. They are in the heart of a college campus, so not necessarily quiet, but the vibe is always lively and since it is in proximity to college kids, there are always a bunch of great and inexpensive dining options. This location in particular had an amazing array of things to do and places to get a great brat and some curds (Memorial Student Center is aces with views of the lake. Go to Der Rathskeller). The proximity to Lake Mendota and the Lakeshore Nature Preserve is fabulous. My only complaint is that the valet parking (pretty much the only available option) is a gouge, but the staff was lovely and you can get your car in and out as many times a day as you need. I would absolutely stay here again.
Super friendly and helpful staff. The place was impeccably clean. The John Hughes movie vibe was cool as well. We'll be back next time we're in Madison
Shout out to Oliver! Great front desk experience.
Great location and hotel
Great property for campus visit
Best location in Madison! Great lobby, rooms roof top bar/restaurant. Wonderful staff .
Clean facilities, friendly staff, quiet, great location.
Great hotel right on campus. Great coffee shop downstairs
Very nice hotel
Incredible spot if you’re touring the University of Madison! Staff was wonderful, the location was excellent, and the hotel was inspiring.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed my coffee every morning and the smiling faces! I also appreciated how close the Hotel was to all the UW campus.
Great place
Good location
Clean
My experience at Graduate Madison left much to be desired. With the exception of one friendly blonde woman at checkout, the front desk and valet staff were generally unfriendly, unhelpful, and appeared disengaged.
At check-in, the valet informed me of an additional early check-in fee—ok fair enough—but when I asked about self-parking alternatives to their steep overnight fee, he simply said he didn’t know. No apology or effort to assist. Odd for a hotel to provide no guidance for alternatives.
It was raining when I arrived, and I was leaving my two pieces of luggage at the front desk (waiting for my room), the brunette woman working was reluctant to loan me an umbrella - stating because I “wasn’t yet checked in.” Although she had JUST given an umbrella to the woman in front of me in line. I had to insist for the loan, before she handed it over. It felt unnecessarily petty and unwelcoming.
The room itself was dated but expected. However, waking up with with appear to be bug bites (having deduced to having only exposing skin in these areas while sleeping A, and them appearing directly after sleep B)—was deeply concerning. I stayed on the third floor facing the front and took photos to document.
Overall, the experience was lackluster and disappointing for a Hilton-affiliated property. I would think twice before returning.
Super pleased with everything!
As expected, the hotel has tons of character. The staff was awesome and the proximity to the University great. We loved all of the quirkiness. We borrowed the bikes for a few hours which was another nice touch.
Could use a deep clean. Floor boards, frames, light fixtures kind of clean.
My 20 year old daughter and I love staying at the Graduate Hotels. We would definitely recommend the Graduate Madison.
Norris, the conscientious and delightful valet at The Graduate in Madison made our stay!! He’s an incredible soul who absolutely understands service and does it with an authentic smile! He left my wife a Mother’s Day note that made her cry.
