I had stayed here before and would stay again just for the location and hotel architecture.
Pros:

Location is fantastic with close proximity to restaurants. Room has fantastic view. Staff were helpful.

Cons:

Restaurant was closed for dinner the night I stayed. Also, the ice machine was out of order on my floor and the one below mine. The sky view lounge also closed early before I could enjoy. Guest ice buckets should be kept in the bedroom area, not the bathroom sink area.

Damp and Smelly with a Great View
Pros:

I would never recommend anyone stay here. Let’s start with the positive.

The 17th floor has a unique bar with 360 degree panoramic views of Mobile. The view is stunning but the service was lacking. I had to stand in line at the bar several times to get service and was ignored while staff seemed to be chatting with people they knew. Aside from the slow service, the drinks were great and reasonable priced.

As others have said, the hotel has undergone a slight renovation. Unfortunately, they did not go far enough. Stepping off the elevator into the hallway is like going back in time. Once I entered my room, an immediate smell of mildew hit me. It was soon apparent that it was probably from the dampness of the room. Everything felt wet (pillows, sheets, carpet). The room was remodeled but still felt old. Thermostat on the wall didn’t work - you had to control the AC manually by opening the plastic hatch. The bathroom shower was not working properly. When I turned the shower head on, the water kept flowing out of the faucet and filled up the tub while I was standing in it. The bathroom sink was so shallow, my hands touched the bottom as I washed them.

The lobby has also been remodeled but some of the furniture is already wearing out with staining all over it. The lobby AC was out of service so it was 80+ temps in the lobby. I felt bad for the workers who had to endure it. Note that there is no free breakfast offered here like a Holiday Inn Express.

Overall, don’t stay here unless it’s your last resort. There are plenty of other hotels that have modern rooms that don’t smell like mildew, and offer free breakfast amenities. I did report the dampness issue to the front desk who acted like they had never heard of it. When I mentioned that many of the other reviews here mention it they seemed surprised.

Find another hotel
Pros:

The location was nice

Cons:

Dated property, everything felt a little grimy. Not sure if our floors in the bedroom during the summer were supposed to be heated, but the floors were hot in our room like it had in floor heating….weird.
The breakfast voucher they give is for a sit down restaurant that is basically serving you the same powdered egg crap that you would get in a cheap buffet. On Booking.com they say kids eat free, but that’s not true. If you book your 13 to, however, old kid, they’re gonna have to buy their own breakfast because the kid ticket only goes up to age 12.

Meh
Pros:

Serviceable, but that’s about the best I can say.

When you walk in, there’s a large sign saying something along the lines of “making things better for your next trip,” implying renovations or improvements are underway. The funny part is that I stayed here last year and that same sign was hanging up then. From what I could tell, nothing seemed to have changed.

The rooms are large and reasonably comfortable, though they felt a bit humid. The walls are also paper-thin—you’ll get to know your neighbors very intimately.

I will say this: every staff member I interacted with was absolutely lovely. The people working here were friendly, helpful, and professional.

Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the noise. I was on the 17th floor, just steps away from the Skyview Lounge. On Friday nights they host what’s called “Grown & Sexy Night,” essentially a 50+ hip-hop dance party with bass-heavy music blasting until midnight. Quite honestly, it was one of the most inconsiderate setups I’ve encountered at a hotel of this type. Plenty of hotels have bars and entertainment, but usually not directly adjacent to rooms where guests are trying to rest and relax. This isn’t Las Vegas—it’s a downtown Holiday Inn. The lounge area became quite a scene, with people coming and going and a visible security presence, and on both Friday nights I stayed here, I got very little rest.
Management should really decide what they want this property to be: a nightclub destination or a budget hotel for travelers looking to sleep.

Don’t do it! Stay at other places.
Pros:

Location.

Cons:

Was told we were going to get vouchers for our kids to eat free and didn’t get them. Even though the menu says that. Parking was terrible. Big hotel no parking. Hair in the tub.

Worst hotel experience ever! Worst front desk encounter with Dustin!
Pros:

We stayed her in June 2026, and I can honestly say it was easily the worst hotel experience I have ever encountered. We were in mobile for a showcase baseball tournament and didn’t finish our game until late so we arrived to check in at 11:55 pm. When I walked in the lobby, there was a customer at the desk and the front desk clerk, Dustin, was on the phone with someone trying to get credit card information so he could check her in (she apparently worked for Greyhound and they were paying for her expenses). I am NOT exaggerating when I say this took an hour! In this hour, there were at least 15 people that came and got in the line behind me, including one angry customer that was already asleep and someone opened this man’s door to his room with a key card (after midnight). This customer stated that he, his girlfriend, and baby were dead asleep and someone opened their door, luckily he had the latch lock on so they couldn’t come in the room. Dustin, the front desk worker, was completely UNBOTHERED - never tried to help this customer or figure out who came in his room or why? I was appalled! The customer finally just walked off but you could tell he was extremely frustrated. But back to the over an hour wait to just get checked in- Dustin never once said, mam, since your company is having issues with the credit card, I’m gonna wait on a couple of the 15 customers behind you so we can get the line down and as soon as they can give me the correct information, I’ll get you taken care of! Never! If all the other hotels in town weren’t booked, we would have left at 1am and found somewhere else to stay! Some of the 15 customers just left! And to top that off when he finally got greyhound girl taken care of, I said “I just need a room with two beds- don’t care about their cost. Here is my credit card and license.” It still took him 22 minutes to check me in bc at that point I was looking at watch every 5 minutes bc I was just amazed at the incompetence or laziness or lack of care! 🤯 On top of ALL of that, I didn’t get a receipt. I had to call back down to get that- Dustin stated he would bring it right up and guess what- he didn’t! I had to call again! Never again!
