Will never book with this hotel chain again.
Cons:

A live cricket in the bed in the middle of the night, bathroom door didn't close, window shade didn't work, refrigerator buzzed in the quiet of the night

All the charm of an industrial park
Pros:

I usually review on a curve. While this hotel is not all that bad it should be better but I doubt it will be. This is a Home2 Suites by Hilton which implies a home away from home concept. The hotel, however, has less ambiance than an Ikea store. Cold, utilitarian and a bit messy. The rooms were basically clean but utilitarian furnished, more like an industrial park. Totally devoid of charm. In fact, we stay a lot at Tru, another Hilton brand, that is a gloried college dorm but at least those hotels have a decent breakfast (food quality at Home2 Appleton was sketchy) and community attributes that bring people together. The Appleton Home2 is staffed lightly and, as I said, has all the ambiance of an industrial park instead of feeling "homey" (which Hilton's Tru brand does a better job of). The real deficit was the shower -- horrible water pressure that struggled to wash soap away. This is a newer hotel but I think in a couple of years it will show age and wear quickly as necessary TLC is lacking. Not much attention to detail in keeping the property spiffy. Again, owners do the bare minimum. That said, it'll do for a night but not a place I'd go out of my way to stay at. Too bad because it could and should be better -- if the owners cared, but they don't appear to.
