Excellent Stay — Beautiful Hotel, Great Service, and Fantastic Facilities
Pros:

I recently stayed at the Gran Hyatt hotel and had a wonderful experience. The building is beautiful and full of character, and the staff were consistently attentive, friendly, and professional.
The food was delicious, and the service throughout the hotel was excellent. I was also very impressed with the conference and meeting rooms — they were spacious, comfortable, and very well equipped, making them perfect for business events.
A special highlight was the complimentary Wi‑Fi and the free bottled water provided in the room. After moving to another hotel where I didn’t receive even a glass of water and had no internet access, I appreciated these thoughtful touches even more.
Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it for both business and leisure stays. I would happily return.

Great Hotel experience.
Pros:

Everything about my stay was exceptional. The staff and front desk agents were professional, welcoming, and incredibly helpful throughout my visit. Their attentiveness truly enhanced the overall experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would absolutely return. I would also love the opportunity to partner in the future to provide content reviews, if that is something you would ever consider.

Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Meh.
Pros:

Stayed Feb 14–20, 2026 on points (20K/night + SUA). Cash rates were hovering around $425/night or nearly $900 for a standard suite, which honestly felt laughable given the current state of the property — though it was sold out, so clearly people are either burning points or booking on corporate rates.

The hotel is heavily under renovation, even if they try to keep most of it “behind the scenes.” The Harbor Tower and sports courts are actively being worked on, and you feel it. The Seaport Tower, lobby, lounge, club, and event spaces have been refreshed, but the contrast between renovated and unrenovated areas is stark. The older floors feel dated and musty — that lingering, impossible-to-ignore hotel smell that signals a property well past its prime.

Service was probably the biggest letdown. Nothing overtly bad, just completely transactional. Employees across valet and the club in particular felt like they were going through the motions. No warmth, no personalization — very much a “process you and move on” vibe. Housekeeping was consistent daily, which I’ll give credit for, but that was about the extent of the service highlight reel.

The club itself is squarely mid. Fine for breakfast or a light early evening snack, but not memorable. The $3–4 beer and wine pricing is reasonable, but that’s doing a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of perceived value. Food quality and variety were just okay.

Our standard suite was spacious, and the two bathrooms were a genuine plus — functional for families or longer stays — but it didn’t feel like a luxury suite experience given the rest of the property context.

There are also glaring areas still needing renovation — the pool and Top of the Hyatt feel especially overdue. Until those get addressed, the property feels incomplete.

This place could absolutely be a knockout San Diego hotel if three things happened: warmer service, full renovation completion, and a legitimately upgraded club experience (the last one feels unlikely). If it stays a Category 5, it’ll retain solid points value — but that’s doing a lot of the work.

Verdict: I’d personally drive the extra 30–40 minutes to stay at the oceanfront The Seabird Ocean Resort & Spa — newer rooms, better service, better dining — and revisit once the Grand Hyatt renovation is actually finished. If you need a central San Diego location, can confirm a renovated room, and are booking on points, it’s acceptable. Just don’t expect it to wow you.

Way overpriced for a motel 6 level experience
Pros:

The way they name the needs is horrible. The flat sheet doesn't stay tucked and bunches up causing horrible night is sleep and it is impossible to get the room dark. So much lit coming through the black out curtains and tons of led lights throughout the room that can't be turned off but to menthol the light coming grout the front door.

Luxurious stay!
Pros:

I surprised my fiancée with a trip to San Diego to celebrate both her birthday and Valentine's Day, making it a double celebration. Choosing the Grand Hyatt for our stay was the best decision for that weekend.

The hotel provided a luxurious atmosphere, excellent amenities, and exceptional customer service, which made our stay relaxing and memorable. We are both so happy! I just wish we could have stayed longer.

Right on the water--nice views albeit slow elevators to get there
Pros:

Was stuck here because of the nearby San Diego Comic-Con. It also had good proximity to seaport village, even though there aren't a lot of stores there, and a nice running path up to the SD Airport.

The elevators are slow even with magic elevator lobbies. The construction and renovation of floors made this quite difficult.

The gym was large with decent machines

Checkin was efficient; checkout was slow.

Room bed was fine, pillows of varying thickness and rigidity. The bathroom had this weird mini-step. The bathroom amenities were Balmain with bottles attached to the wall.

The room had a lot of noise from the street, even from the 26th floor. You could hear the trains all night long.

Disappointed for a Hyatt suite
Pros:

I was expecting more from a Hyatt suite. The room had a stale smell in it and the shower was not clean. For a suite, it lacked basic ammenities such as coffee creamer, sugar, plates, and silverware. The bathroom sink had a large crack in the middle of it.

Should've stayed here in the first place, but this is a great place to stay when you flee your God-awful Airbnb.
Pros:

Top notch staff and experience, we will stay here again, for sure. We were originally staying in an Airbnb for our trip, but the experience was total sh!+. After two nights of a broken bed and rude neighbors, we waved goodbye to our fentanyl-ized friends and hurriedly booked a room at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. We walked into the hotel looking like a couple of refugees fleeing a war zone, but the counter people and bell desk folks must've read the sign on the base of the Statue of Liberty because they embraced us like the tired, poor, huddled masses we were. We were treated amazingly well by everyone. The views are excellent and the surrounding area has a ton of dining and sightseeing options. The Landing is a bar in the hotel with excellent food and staff and we had a great time. I wish we would've stayed here for the duration of our trip.

Don’t bother going to the Grand Club
Pros:

Do not use a Club Lounge award at this location. The Grand Club was closed Saturday afternoon for a private event yet it was not posted on the website and when it was open, it was very loud and the food offerings were mediocre.

The “smart” elevators are extremely slow and often opened and were completely full.

Ultra dussapointing.
Pros:

First of all, I expect a bit of luxury from Grand Hyatt, but this one offers a basic room with a tiny bathtub with a bad drain. For some reason, when I drained the bathtub, it flooded the whole bathroom. There were no bathrobes. Really? At a supposedly luxury brand hotel? The windows were so dirty that we could hardly see the view, what a shame as it does offer a nice harbor view.

The worst part of this hotel stay was the club lounge. It offered so little. Only some cookies and nuts along with coffee and soft drinks during the day. I suppose it’s ok but the evening cocktail hour was truly pathetic. There were 3 main dishes, one was a vegetarian something, another was some kind of gluten-free mush (when my husband lifted the lid, he said, “oh, somebody puked in here” hahaha) and the last was dried up carnitas. I’m all for including everybody’s dietary needs but when you only offer 3 dishes and 2 of them are for a special group, that’s a problem. On top of that, there were only 3 kinds of wine and beer and they charged for alcoholic drinks. $6 for a glass of cheap wine. You gotta be kidding me. Truly sad! |’m used to the wonderful club lounges in Tokyo and Hakata in Japan. They offer free-flowing champagne, all kinds of cocktails, wine, sake, and a whole lot more. They also serve 20+ kinds of wonderful food items. So my experience at the San Diego lounge was a nightmare.
The only thing going for this hotel is the location.
The valet parking never answered the phone when we needed them and charged us $65 per day.
Never again even if it’s free.

Not a "Grand" Hyatt
Pros:

Disappointing. Looked forward to great view of the bridge and harbor, but windows were so dirty I could hardly see through them. The "executive lounge" was clearly not up to Grand Hyatt standards. Expected to pay for drinks. Food was pretty marginal. Seating uncomfortable. Staff should be sent to Tokyo to see what a Grand Hyatt lounge should be . . .
Room OK. Bed comfortable. No bathroom amenities (no razor, toothbrush, etc.)
Check in easy as was check out. Vallet parking $65! Tried to call down to have car ready. Gave up after no answer after 15 (yes 15 . . .) attempts.
Unless the room is free, I won't be back.

A Great Weekend In San Diego
Pros:

We just spent an excellent long winter weekend at the Hyatt. The public areas are attractive, and the location was perfect for our needs. It’s great to be able to walk the waterfront path or take a short stroll into the Gaslamp. Our spacious room was newly renovated and boasted a fabulous bay view. Everything was fresh and clean. The staff were uniformly helpful and friendly. The club lounge also was a nice benefit, though the food offerings were nothing special. I would gladly return, for either business or pleasure.

A good turnaround
Pros:

I stayed here for a conference. Had some issues with my booking that the front desk wasn't able to solve, and I left with some dissatisfaction. However, the manager reached out afterwards and willingly solved all the issues without me requesting anything (shout out to Garrett K!). To be fair, I do think the upfront service can be improved, but since the issue was partly my fault, the solution more than made up for it and earned my satisfaction back. I will come stay again.

Great Experience
Pros:

The staff were wonderful, Alfredo at the front desk deserves a raise. He was efficient friendly and seemed to genuinely care about the experience. Jojo at The Landing was great at her job and went above and beyond to ensure the guest experience was top tier. Hotel was clean and welcoming. The construction was well managed and noise/dust was a non-issue.
