The accommodations were excellent! The service was outstanding! Our New Year’s Eve experience was great! We had no expectations when we booked the hotel but we wanted to celebrate the new year in a grand way. Everything was amazing and we will not hesitate to stay there again.
I recently stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego as a Globalist, and the experience was a textbook example of "status indifference." When you stay at a flagship property of this scale, you expect the brand standards to be high. Instead, I felt like a total stranger to the Hyatt ecosystem.
Final Verdict: If you are a Globalist, avoid this hotel. You will likely be charged for "complimentary" perks and have your destination fees "accidentally" tacked on. It’s not worth the headache or the extra cost for benefits you’ve already earned.
Location is superb- close to tourist spots and walkable to seaport.
Ambiance - great!
Rooms - love the comfortable bed. View is amazingly beautiful.
Come here for relaxing and fun time
Value - worth it
Service - hats off to the staff! Thank you for your hard work
You couldn’t ask for a better location, but what truly made the stay unforgettable was the staff. Every interaction felt personal, thoughtful, and genuinely warm—we were completely spoiled.
This USED TO BE an amazing hotel. I have come here many times and visit at least once a year since 2018. This year (Dec 2025), things have taken a significant turn for the worse.
1. We were put in a newly renovated room. However the bathroom sink was clogged.
2. We called Front Desk at 6:00 pm to get it fixed. However after being on hold for 5 minutes, the call disconnected automatically. We tried two more times and then gave up.
3. We called Front Desk again at 8:00 pm. This time, the call connected. We informed them about the clogged sink and they sent over engineering. The person told us that he had to put in a chemical and that we could not use the sink for 3 hours.
4. We did not bring a car. However upon checking out, I received a copy of the bill via email and guess what- they added a parking charge of $45 to our bill.
5. I saw that and tried to call the hotel on Monday (the day after we checked out). The automatic voice prompt asked me what the call was regarding and transferred me to Accounting. After being on hold for 6 minutes, the call automatically disconnected. I tried again and the same thing happened. So basically they add a false charge and then make it really hard to dispute the charge.
Again, I stay at the hotel every year. None of these things ever happened in the past. They would ask me if I am parking a vehicle and if I was not I never got charged. Now, imagine, how many people would not be looking at their invoice after checking out and would not catch the parking fee that is now getting added automatically. This smells of farud.
This is a great option to stay in SD. The rooms are renovated in the Seaport Tower. We had the option with the breakfast included which was really good. The downside of course is the parking, $45 per day. But you have very nice options to walk like the Midway, Seaport Village, Children's Museum , and also Gaslamp.
The sofa bed was utterly dirty with yellow and brown stain. Looks like the house cleaning team have ever paid attention to the sofa bed. No one came to fix the sink slow draining issue, even after front desk said the will send one over. Dust and dirt were left by the door side after house cleaning came to clean the room.
My go to hotel when ever I visit San Diego. This has been my preferred hotel since 2000, back when there was only one tower. The facilities and staff are always exceptional and I always feel like I'm coming home.
Not the ideal place to go for your average income especially with a family of 6. The hotel itself is absolutely incredible and nothing like i’ve ever seen before. My work provided us a 3 day stay as a Christmas gift but we were not expecting to have to pay almost 300$ for breakfast per day, pay 100$ for their theater on the roof. It’s just not the place for simple folk is all.
Amazing experience. The staff went above and beyond! Rooms and views are spectacular! Thank you for making my stay so comfortable and memorable.
The room was extremely warm with no way to adjust the thermostat. Housekeeping didn't respond to my request for Distilled Water. It took me 3 attempts.
Even with some construction updates underway stay was excellent. Walking to boardwalk and was able to complete short runs easily. I left behind a laptop charger and staff located and quickly sent it to my home. Looking forward to visit again!
Hotel check in was quick and friendly service. They gave details of fun things to do at hotel.
I used Guest of Honor Hyatt award .
Globalist get free resort fees parking and club access.
The club was closed for renovations so we got free breakfast at the Seaview breakfast buffet. It was awesome. Awesome food and friendly staff. I miss the omelet station and bagels and salmon .
Can’t wait to return. .
This was the worst experience I've had at a hotel this year. There were many problems, so it's easier to bullet point them:
- The room did not having simply amenities like slippers or a robe or even windows that opened,
- The thermostat was locked at a high temperature, and the windows would not open
- The refrigerator was broken (which we only learned after trying to put our leftover salmon in it and finding it stunk up the room), which was problematic because there was only hot air in the room and the windows were all locked
-the room service food we received had mold on it despite costing over 50$,
- a simple hot water kettle we requested was never delivered, I was charged 45$ 'receiving fee' for the one that i ordered from amazon for 15$, despite not authorizing it.
- They charge 15$ a day for what i would consider standard wifi of 25mb/s on top of the "resort fee"
There were others, but this is the core of it. I spoke with the manager and they provided minimal relief. All front desk staff i spoke to were broadly apathetic and failed to have the courtesy i receive at holiday inns and other lower tier hotels.
They are close to the conference center, and clearly assume people will accept the terrible service due to the proximity. There are several other hotels near by, like the Omni across the street.
Avoid at all costs, this place will take advantage of your limited time while you are in town for your conference.
Can't wait to come back! My corner room had an amazing view of the water. The location was perfect for all of our adventures. The retail stores had wonderful selections - I could have replaced my whole suitcase of clothes. The food was good too! Loved having the rooftop movie. The pool area is really nice.
I regretfully picked this hotel for my husband’s birthday and the tennis courts that no longer exist here. I was expecting Grand Hyatt level service but received much less. My husband had to ask the valet to come away from their desk to get the car on arrival. The hotel is under renovation so no Club Lounge and the “renovated” rooms we got were already stained. We got “upgraded” to a cheaper room than I paid for. There’s a pool but no services around. No room service. We cleaned our own seats at breakfast. Almost everything is self-serve. Phones are connected to algorithms. Good luck trying to find an employee anywhere but at check-in and the shops. I can see if you’re here for a conference and not utilizing the hotel, that’s sufficient. The only thing Grand about this place was the sheer size of the lobby.
They get 1 star for location, and 1 star for friendly staff.
Property has seen better
days. Moldy rooms, broken beds, and an overall worn-down feel to the property.
Manchester Grand Hyatt is always a great stay. Clean, well trained staff and no worries when we stay. The teens love the pool and food in the lobby coffee shop. We always stay when they start the Christmas decorations and it's beautiful to watch. Next year we will be there for New Year's Eve and we are all looking forward to it.
The hotel was very beautiful but the handicapped room that they assigned us to were horrible. We did not request this type of room.
Exceeds expectations in every way. Grand entrance, amazing rooms, very helpful staff, and good value. GRAND HYATT is 11/10.
