Novotel on Collins
Pros:

Staff at the Novotel Melbourne on Collins are super friendly and helpful from concierge to cleaners, the hotel itself is well presented and the location on Collins Street in the Melbourne CBD is close to everything. All these things made my stay(s) most enjoyable.

Lovely couple of days with my grandchildren!
Pros:

Clean and comfortable! Good Buffet breakfast , the kids loved the pool.
Would definitely have a return visit , the location felt very safe .

Cons:

Only problem was the shower ! Very hard to make the water come out of the shower head from the bath tap, especially for children .

A convenient night in the city but underwhelming for the cost.
Pros:

Great location, very easy to access and central. The breakfast buffet was in a nice location with the view out over the street. Good view from the rooms out into the central open area. Called in the middle of the night to get some plastic bags for a sick child and service was very quick. On check out, the lady working on reception was lovely and got my child a glass of Lemonade to try to help him before we headed home.

Cons:

When we arrived, we found a dirty glass on the windowsil and there was no liner in the bins which felt unsanitary. 2 double beds as advised, but 1 was against a wall so one person had to climb in and out. Despite paying for 4 guests, we didnt have enough mugs or cups in the room for everyone and were told on checkin that since we'd made the booking as 1 adult 3 children, even though it was the same cost as 2A 2C we may be required to pay for the extra child at breakfast. There was lots of things needing repair or out of order around the hotel - very disappointed the spa was out of order, 1 lift and the ramp to allow those needing mobility assistance to access the pool/spa/gym area. Also despite being in a square, you were unable to walk through the short way and had to walk the full outside to get around from one end to the pool area - long walk.

Relaxing for a girls night away.
Pros:

The location was amazing and the room was enough for our activities while staying in the city. We were really hardly there.

Cons:

The room was very warm at night and I tried to find a way to cool the room down but had no luck.

I won’t be coming again. It made me feel sad because no natural light are not many lights in a room.

The room was very very very dark and the bed you can fill the springs in the bed and no view whatsoever no like coming through unfortunately it was a letdown for me knowing that the hotel has their name

Parking was hard to access and we got lost trying to navigate the one way streets! Will research further next time of take the valet option! We ended up in a Wilson’s parking in flinders lane which cost $135!

Lifts out of order, spa out of order, double billed for parking, beds uncomfortable and small.
Staff were friendly enough but at check out when I was paying for the car park I paid using AFTERPAY plus which was approved and I received the email confirmation of payment, I was then charged from the $100 deposit and have had to call and email to try and get my money back. Much better hotels for cheaper in the area, won’t be staying here again.

So so this time around.
Pros:

We've been staying for 15 years on Collins Street. Sadly, this mother and daughter stay was disappointing.
What we did like was the tidy room and the king bed. The location will always be our #1 for Melbourne stay when it's the two of us.
The barman and bar lady on Saturday night were friendly!
Continental breaky is always delicious.

Cons:

Sadly, our room was at the back of the hotel with that extremely annoying vent outside the window. I believe I complained about this room location approximately 10 years ago. It's like sleeping with a clothes dryer going.
The mango smoothie on Sunday morning was served in a cracked shot glass. I didn't realise until the last mouthful. The waitress apologised but pretty sure I saw a waiter remove it with all the other dishes. Hopefully, it ended up in the bin.
The chairs in the bar really need an upgrade. They really don't do the bar area any favours.
The lift!! It was extremely disappointing that only 1 lift was working all weekend. You couldn't get in a lift or you would have to go up and then come down and other guests were rudely squeezing in when they should have waited.
