Location was great.
Room was clean.
Room service was quick.
Chocolate eggs in a bowl at reception for Easter
You needed to use 2 elevators to get to your room.
One of the elevators was not working which caused large groups of guests waiting to use the elevators.
Room service ran out of salad.
This was the first time staying staying at Novotel in Melbourne. I liked everything about the place. The staff were great. The facilities were great, the room was excellent and the food was excellent.
There was nothing i didnt like
The kids loved the location.
Enjoyed the pool facilities and breakfast.
Convenient location, center of Melbourne's shopping precinct, easy access via Town Hall station.
I was expecting the pull-out bed to be made or have sheets available, as that was one of the reasons I was told waiting for our room.
1/3 elevators worked. Made for a bit of a traffic jam in the morning.
Great location and the staff were extremely helpful.
The spa was too small and the pool too cold!
Location is amazing and easily walk to everything. Rooms were big and clean. We loved walking and getting the tram to where we needed to be.
The pool was very cloudy and needed a clean. It may be the longer weekend caused more use but it would have been good the hotel cleaned it more than they did as it was not relaxing or enjoyable having such cloudy water and dark edges.
Great location, room and staff (especially the room service staff )
Only one lift working out of three 🙁
Location and ammenities
Needing attention and feeling old, also bar closed at 9:15pm Saturday evening. The bar was one of the reasons we stay at this hotel and we couldn’t come back after dinner and enjoy a drink as it was closed early…it did say Friday and Saturday closes “Late”…😞
Breakfast was the best part - variety, freshly cooked and delicious. Definitely the highlight.
The cot request was accommodated successfully, cot was a porta-cot style, clean.
Staff were friendly at reception.
Only 1 out of 3 elevators was working, had to wait ages every time. A previous review mentioned it so this is not a new problem, incredibly frustrating to have to wait 10mins every time you leave or return, even more so with 2 little kids.
Pool was cold, heating needs to be turned up. Quickly became intolerable. Towels at the pool had run out.
Room needs a good scrub, marks on the carpet and doors.
Had to call reception to ask for more towels. As a room booked for 4 people we were provided with only 2 towels.
Valet parking was bizarre. It is at a separate address across the road, accessed by a tight laneway, very narrow inside the carpark with steep curved ramps between levels. Felt like a really poor location for a carpark!
The staff are very polite and reliable. Customer service was really great.
Nothing
Lovely stay. Good location close you free tram
The lift were very slow
Novotel is a generally a good chain, the not so good parts are noticeable if compared to other hotels/destinations in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Japan.
I was travelling for business and stayed in Novotel Melbourne on Collins.
The location is convenient as it is located close to malls and restaurants.
The downside is that the facility is a bit old and didn't meet my expectations considering the price level.
Points I've noted are the following:
1. Carpets - both in the room and common areas including hallways smells bad. it seems it's been a while since it received a proper washing.
2. Sustainability - it's a great effort however, the lack of in-room slippers is a letdown.
3. Power outlets - given that the price level is similar to Singapore, i was hoping that the power outlets will be universal and wouldn't require a power adapter.
4. T&B - the shower enclosure didn't have a door which posed a risk of spilling shower water allover the washroom floor. The lack of a bidet shower is also a let down.
5. Entertainment - TV is on the older side and didn't have a phone screensharing feature.
6. A/C - It's not possible to manually control the room temperature. It's either you freeze or get toasted - there's no flexibility.
7. Wifi - working remotely is a nuisance as the wifi automatically disconnects after about 15 minutes which will require you to reconnect to the same router, go into the log-in page and confirm that you are indeed connected.
8. Lift/Elevator - they are transparent and honest about the maintenance of another lift. However, the remaining operational lift shuts its door abruptly which may result to injuries. I had my fair share of being squeezed between its doors. once the doors open, you need to get inside within 5 seconds as the door will force its way to shut close.
Convenient
Stayed at Novotel on Collins and found it to be a solid, reliable option right in the heart of Melbourne. The Collins Street location is a major highlight, with easy access to shopping, dining, theatres, and public transport all close by.
Rooms were comfortable and well maintained, providing everything needed for a pleasant stay. Service was professional and efficient, and the overall atmosphere felt relaxed and well run. While not overly luxurious, it delivers exactly what you’d expect from a Novotel — comfort, convenience, and consistency.
A good choice for both business and leisure travellers looking for a central Melbourne hotel.
