10/10 Recommend!
Pros:

We booked one night here before boarding out Catamaran and it was an excellent choice! The views were phenomenal, the staff was incredible and the FOOD! Amazing. Every meal we had was 10/10, even breakfast that was included. The bartender Shelby made our dinner fantastic and I would absolutely stay here again.

Must in St.Thomas
Pros:

By far the best dining experience I’ve had in St. Thomas. The view makes you put your beer down, which is rare for me. Inside, you feel like you’re stepping into a piece of old St. Thomas and greeted like an old friend. Excellent food. Can’t wait to go back.

A bit off the beaten path
Pros:

This hotel is very remote from any other activity on the island. It has a restaurant and it was delicious however very pricey for dinner. The views make it worth it all. The taxi’s were $75-$95 every time we had to leave. We are a family of 5 and stayed only one night. The water didn’t work in our room and when it did the pressure was off. The toilet is not set properly. The main issue is NO COFFEE or pot in the full kitchen. The balcony view from our villa was lovely except the railing was not stable. The front desk staff was kind but not overwhelming inviting or anything. Water bottles in the room would be a nice, common gesture also. It is really close to a busy mountain road and can be loud. There is no privacy in hall bathroom in bath the also. It has some quaint aspects to it, but lacks a good bit in my opinion.

A great affordable option with nice people and a delicious restaurant
Pros:

I love that this is a locally owned property with a great restaurant. The view is incredible. I like that it is run by a family, a small business owner. Some of the rooms are really cute and some are okay. It's an older hotel. Charming. Funky. Parking is a challenge. The people on site are great. It's a budget-friendly option.

Cons:

There are much nicer resorts on the island but they're also very expensive.

Friendly, comfortable hotel with beautiful views!
Pros:

We really enjoyed our stay at Mafolie Hotel and would definitely stay there again. The staff were friendly and helpful, including arranging taxis for us. The views from the rooms and restaurant are spectacular, and fine dining at the on-site restaurant was fabulous. The hotel was comfortable and quiet and it appears that the new owners are continuing to make improvements and replace things that were damaged by hurricanes. Be prepared to get yourself and your luggage up and down stone steps unless you can specifically make reservations directly with the hotel for a street level room.

Amazing views and yummy food
Pros:

Great hotel with amazing views for breakfast and dinner. Ask about whether your room has a view. You need to rent a car or cab (plan on $20-40 per one way trip for a couple) anytime you head out. Nothing is walkable. Hotel is helpful arranging taxis. Not super fancy but very clean and views are worth it. Brooks bar and ideal restaurant for local fare. SOL restaurant at the hotel is very good. We ate there several times.

Great for a 1-night stay; for 2+ nights, you'll probably want to have your own transportation (e.g., rental car)
Pros:

The view is really the star of this hotel. High on a hillside, the vantage point is absolutely splendid.

The hotel pretty much checks the boxes, with rooms that are clean and comfortable. The woman staffing the front desk on both our arrival evening and the next morning at departure was very kind and helpful. Alas, I cannot remember her name as I would like to credit her by name. I also appreciate the flexibility on the 11 AM checkout as we had a little logistical glitch that made it helpful to keep the room until noon.

The complimentary breakfast was quite nice, and the open-air dining area provided the same tremendous views as the rooms do.

The property has an interesting layout, with stone steps connecting several levels in a manner resembling an old castle.

The main watch-out I'd have with this hotel is that I think it is best suited to a one-night stay. It is not within walking distance of much of anything, so unless you have a rental car or don't mind the hassle of taking taxis every time you come or go, you may feel somewhat "trapped". The context of our stay was that we stayed here for one night upon arrival in St. Thomas prior to heading off to St. John for the remainder of our Virgin Islands vacation.

Minor glitches include unsteady water pressure in the shower; the flow would slow to drips for a few seconds, and then resume full flow for perhaps 20-30 seconds, and then revert to drips, and so on. And, while the rooms have TV sets and pretty good (free) Wi-Fi, the TV does not provide conventional broadcast/ cable television. But. presumably, you did not come to the Virgin Islands to sit in a hotel room and watch TV.

Overall, this is a decent property and I would recommend it wholeheartedly for a one-night stay . . .or for a multiple night stay for those who have access to transportation and don't need a hotel "close to the action".

Amazing views from some of the rooms, but not from ours
Pros:

The restaurant in the hotel is great as is the pool. Both have amazing views. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable. Included breakfast every day was excellent.

There is a very friendly cat that sleeps on the stairs in the sun all day.

Great location to get to beaches on all parts of the island, plantations and botanic gardens up in the hills, and two great restaurants within walking distance. (Do not recommend walking to Sibs in the dark- very scary road! It has a parking lot so you can drive there.) Sol is on the premises.

Cons:

According to info on Bookings, our room's amenities included a pool with a view. The picture showed a woman in a bright room sitting at a table looking out over the pool and the harbor. However, out looked out over the roof of the restaurant which was being covered with solar panels. Very ugly and no way to see the harbor or the pool without walking down several flights of stairs.

The bathroom was so tiny you could barely turn around.

There was also only one lamp in the room next to the bed. The other side of the room with the table and chairs was in darkness.

The best view and staff in STT
Pros:

There isn't a single negative thing I can say about the Mafolie Hotel. From the hotel grounds to the views to the staff onsite, it left nothing to be desired.
I got sick our first day here and Robin, the hostess at the restaurant, helped my boyfriend nurse me back to health with a soup they whipped up just for me (after convincing my boyfriend there was soup on the menu - there definitely wasn't lol)
Kalina and Steven at the front desk were amazing in keeping us hydrated, connected with rides downtown and offering their personal insights on where to go during our stay.
We loved it so much that we made a last minute decision to extend our stay by one day and it was the best decision ever. Steven hooked us up with a night in the villa for our last night and it was an absolute dream. The views are to die for anywhere from this property, but they are next level from the villa!
Our stay at the Mafolie made our first visit to St Thomas one we'll never forget. Thank you so much for the unrivaled hospitality!!!
