The view!!!! The staff !!!
I only spent the night to go fishing the next morning.
But the hotel had everything you needed.
I had a lot of fishing equipment I didn't trust to keep in my truck so I brought it into the room.
And it was a nice big room .
But everything was very clean and comfortable just what you want.
It had everything I wanted I was pleased I plan to stay there in a few months again when I come to go fishing
Excellent customer service and care. Beautiful, cozy place to stay on Shelter Island. Highly recommend

I travel for work, domestic and international, and when not working, I travel for pleasure, trying to use non-major chain hotels to enjoy a more local feel. This is the first hotel review I've written.
One of the first things I do on all my travels is pull down bedding to look for bedbugs, stains, etc. That being said, I would rank this hotel within the worst I've stayed.
The hotel is old with dated decor (think dust-collecting throw pillows and runners on beds, likely placed on the floor by guests), paint chips, elevator crusty, room carpet coming up with lumps throughout, smell of mold/mildew, room was damp, pillows damp, sheets damp and worn thin as tissue, walls thin (had to turn up a/c to drown out hallway noise). I'd rate cleanliness as 5 given what may be budgeting, hence the urine stains on the sheet (albeit washed?), so Housekeeping is likely doing the best with what they're given. The restroom was clean.
After phoning the Front Desk about the urine stains, they were kind and switched me to an "upgraded room". This room was dark (had to use lighting during the day) and had a partial view of the marina with main view being a wall.
I'd recommend booking through the hotel website directly so no surprises regarding total cost and checkout time.
The Front Desk staff were professional upon check-in, room change, and gracious in granting extra time to checkout (third party comm said 12pm when is actually 11am). I did checkout a couple minutes after 11 because the room truly made for an uncomfortable stay, even if just for the night.
I usually stay in Little Italy when visiting San Diego for pleasure but thought Shelter Island would be a nice change. Felt bamboozled by the reviews online, stating "excellent", etc., along with a few complaints with responses by mgmt saying renovations happening, but that was one year ago.
I must have gotten the worst and/or last room awaiting renovation. By the time I boarded my flight, my throat was horribly sore, which I attribute to inhaling mold spores in the room. Should've asked for a dehumidifier.
Location, atmosphere, staff, food and value are on point! Love this place. Planning to come back
Wonderful place to relax and look out at the bay. The room was beyond our expectations. We definately will be back next year.
Our 8 day stay was filled with delight and fun on the ocean.
This place treats you right. Excellent food from their Kitchen. Nice views and rooms. The Staff is Top Notched.
Great staff! Beautiful view from our balcony.
Dated bathroom. Room smelled musty on arrival
Great location and parking
No complaints
Our 45th anniversary and first time visit was a success mostly due to the staff and comfortable large room at the Bay Club. We were gifted a bottle of champagne and card on the day of our anniversary in our room. Loved the happy hour everyday and enjoyed conversations with staff and boat owners as well as other guests. Beautiful views of the bay and marina, too. A trip to remember!
Location on the bay in San Diego, clean nicely decorated room

This is the third or fourth time I’ve stayed at this hotel. There is no need to look for any other resort in San Diego. It’s wonderful Bayside/marina setting to the cleanliness, friendly staff, and reasonable rates, there is no need to look any further. They also have a great happy hour.
