Thank you so much for a wonderful, enjoyable evening in the bar! As always, such a fantastic, atmospheric ambience, mainly due to the first class service (Oksy)! Thank you so much 🙏
Beautiful room and fab service. Very friendly and welcoming bar service from Oksy
Lovely hotel and a very different experience. 5 large houses joined together, cleverly joined up with a few changes in levels, room was good standard and hotel is very good all round. Staff were excellent and made the stay, would highly recommend
Fantastic meal in the bar. Top notch food and dog friendly. My husband had soup followed by a steak. I had a burger. The service by Oksana was out of the world, and our little dog was well looked after and made welcome too. Lovely selection of food. Only downside was brioche bun for the burger as it was very sweet however that's a personal choice.
Would totally recommend visiting.
We have come to the HDV for many years and love it. Our waitress, Oksy, who we have known for a few years, is as always great, very friendly and professional and is always a pleasure to see her and have a lovely time at this great place, our dog Rufus also loves it too!
What can I say. We booked 2 rooms for 3 adults and 1 dog for my winter graduation. We were cared for exceptionally by all staff in the hotel. We received a very warm welcome and the rooms were absolutely beautiful with exquisite attention to detail - towelling robes and slippers, l'occitaine toiletries, Taylors teas, pod coffee machine with Ferrero Rocher, luxurious bedding. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas, warm and cosy. We thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails in the stunning bar where our little dog was made very welcome. We chose to spend more to book here despite the location being further away from the University as Hotel Du Vin had the best online reviews for being genuinely dog friendly and we are so glad we chose to come here, so much so that we plan to return in the future. It was such a treat for us to be able to stay somewhere so luxurious, and to be welcomed in all areas of the hotel and not stuck in a corner out of sight because we brought our pet who is a much loved family member. Thank you SO much. Oh, and last but not least, the cocktails were absolutely EXCEPTIONAL.
Superb hotel in great location close to the West End. Staff could not have been more helpful. We would love to stay again.
Attended a Vow Renewal here and WOW what a beautiful hotel. Sadly, we had to leave early in the morning after the renewal, so couldn’t stay for breakfast. Our room was
fantastic and I would’ve loved to have stayed and made the most of it. It was a beautiful venue, and it was an amazing day.
Really lovely stay. Our room had had a bit of a refresh since our last stay, and lovely little extras in the room like robes and slippers, chocolate. Oksy in the bar is incredible! She single handily looked after everyone in the bar (and it was busy) to perfection!
I really want to love this hotel. It has so much going for it — wonderful ambiance, real character and style, and genuinely friendly staff (especially at the bar). It is such a refreshing contrast to many modern hotels, even very good ones. During my stay last year, everything was excellent and easily worthy of five stars.
This time, however, my experience was a little less perfect. My suite was spacious and beautifully furnished, with everything you could wish for. Unfortunately, there were a few cleanliness and maintenance issues — some cobwebs in the windows and a clogged shower drain that caused the water to build up quickly. I reported it right away, but sadly, it was never resolved and no one followed up.
At breakfast, one member of staff stood out as particularly kind, charming, and eager to help — but clearly still very in training. That led to a number of mishaps (spilled coffee, dropped cutlery, and other Fawlty Towers-style moments), all handled with good humour, but still very noticeable.
Finally, the invoice via mail I was promised at checkout has yet to arrive, even after two reminder emails.
All in all, I still believe this hotel has tremendous potential and a lot of charm — and I truly hope my next visit will be as delightful as the one I had last year.
Spectacular service from Jack at the main bar. He really knows his stuff! A true cocktail genius. Went above and beyond providing recommendations and pairings for our tastes. Will be returning for his excellent service.
Love this place like home from home. Have been here five times. Will be back next year. Always guaranteed staff that know you and remember you.
A Truly Memorable Stay at One Devonshire Gardens – with a Warm Welcome for Humans and Dogs Alike!
From the moment we arrived at One Devonshire Gardens, we knew we were somewhere special. Tucked away in Glasgow’s charming West End, this collection of elegant Victorian townhouses exudes character, sophistication, and a genuine sense of warmth.
After a six-hour drive from North Wales, we arrived a little weary but were instantly greeted with smiles and care that made the journey worthwhile. We were in Glasgow for a wedding and had the unique honour of looking after the bride and groom’s dogs, who were very much part of the celebrations. The hotel didn’t just accommodate them – they welcomed them. Some hotels claim to be dog-friendly, but this one is truly dog-welcoming. The team went above and beyond to make sure the dogs (and we) were happy and comfortable — even offering to take them for a walk so we could join in the wedding festivities. That kind of thoughtfulness really stood out.
Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and spotlessly clean, blending period charm with modern comfort. The bed was luxuriously comfortable, and the bathroom had all the touches you’d expect from a high-end stay.
Dinner was excellent – beautifully presented dishes, full of flavour, and surprisingly well-priced given the quality. The bar is a real highlight too – relaxed but elegant, with a fantastic selection of drinks. A special mention must go to Charlie, whose warmth, humour, and knowledge of the menu and wine list made every visit to the bar a pleasure. Charlie’s service embodied what great hospitality should feel like – genuine, personal, and full of charm.
If I had one small criticism, it would be the breakfast. While the quality of the food was superb, the portion sizes were on the lighter side – perfect for a child or someone with a small appetite, but a bit modest after a long evening or a hearty Scottish wedding!
That said, this barely takes away from what was an outstanding experience overall. One Devonshire Gardens is more than just a hotel – it’s a place that makes you feel looked after, valued, and just a little bit spoiled.
Highly recommended, especially for anyone travelling with dogs – or anyone who simply appreciates exceptional service and a touch of Glasgow charm.
We stayed here for one night when our planned trip to hike in the Highlands was cancelled at the last minute due to Storm Amy. The hotel itself was quite lovely, just a beautiful and beautifully appointed space in a very pretty residential neighborhood.
It was, however, the staff that made the stay simply wonderful and they deserve thanks and credit. Every staff person we encountered was warm, kind, and very capable. Since no one knew how bad the storm damage would be, we spoke to the staff members about other possible activities near Glasgow. We had lovely conversations with the people who worked at the reception area and at the bar as well, including Osky, Cameron, and the bartender, Jack (hopefully I got those names correct!) who were all marvelous and patiently brainstormed with us about our options and our situation. There were other staff working on Oct. 4 and 5 whose names we did not get, but I don’t want to leave them out because they were also so inviting and pleasant. We did not eat at the hotel, but the drinks we had at the bar were just perfect. There were no available rooms so we could not stay longer, but we would have agreed to in a second.
The bar at the hotel is such a gorgeous place and the lady who runs the bar is so courteous and efficient and makes the most delicious cocktails. Try her own invention, a Cranachan martini- heaven in a glass.
I have stayed at L’Hotel du Vin several times and find the rooms and the staff very good. I highly recommend it!
What a relaxing yet luxurious bar in Hotel du Vin… My friend and I were greeted at the door by Cameron, who was friendly and helpful. He escorted us to the bar and introduced us to Oksy, who greeted us with a smile and made us feel very welcome. We ordered some snacks and these were served to us by Ben, who was cheerful and friendly too. The night spent in the bar was effortless as Oksy’s perceptiveness ensured we never had to ask for anything. Her anticipatory nature made us feel taken care of the whole evening. Thank you!
Lovely evening as usual in the cosy bar enjoying great cocktails, fabulous food and wonderful service from Oksy! This is our go to place in an insane world #sanctuary
Very helfpul staff and we had a lovely large room, with a sofa and coffee table. Great location.
We had the most delicious Sunday lunch. All the courses were perfect, and delicious. The setting was sumptuous, and the staff were attentive and very courteous. It is rare that we have such a pleasureable experience. We will return!
