disappointed with this shangrila - does not live up to the standard of others

hotel and rooms are very dated. room i was in was musky and smelt like mold. walls very thin - could hear everything outside the door and next door when the next door occupant was talking
got the air filter replaced and had a dehumidifier still smelt moldy
location is good as its in the heart near shops but better to go elsewhere for the price you pay

Poor customer service. Nobody helped us bring our luggage to our room. This hotel has 3 star service. Not worth the money. I will never recommend this hotel.

Really nice place to stay in Makati.
Pros:

Truly 5 star excellence.
Best part was the breakfast and the pool for me.
The room was really cosy, comfortable bed and aircon.

What was not to like? We tried each of the breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets, and did not encounter a food we did not enjoy. Sage grill was excellent, the spa was relaxing, and the pool provided my kids with hours of enjoyment (and energy burnoff, as every parent wants). Every single staff member we encountered was beyond exceptional in their service, and shows the standard of care that gives the hotel its deserved reputation. If we return to Manila, Makati Shangri-La is our first choice of accomodations.

Cons:

The only thing that displeased me was having to leave after just three days. Any future visit will have to be longer!
