My room was very nice. Bed not too hard or soft. I did not have a microwave if it is something someone would need but I did not. One suggestion I would make is installing at least one grab bar in the shower/tub. I like the doors requiring a pass code. No cards to keep track of. Staff was very helpful with several questions I had and I received several texts from them checking on my needs. Hotel is on the main parade route during Mardi Gras so one should check on the schedule for that if it would impact your stay one way or the other.
Great communication through Kasa. Room was nice, everything was as advertised.
Boutique hotel on the parade route. Many restaurants within walking distance. Great location to enjoy parades during Mardi Gras. Very friendly staff!
All of the above are exceptional!
We had a room with a king size bed. It was very comfortable. It was a bit noisy with the street cars and the set up for the upcoming Mardi Gras events but they provide you with ear plugs and you don’t hear a thing
Bianca assisted us with directions and recommendations for places to go and see. Provided a map and even highlighted routes for us.
We also had a gift that contained more than the allowed 3oz to fly and Bianca assisted us to ship it back to our home.
Bianca even went above and beyond getting a cab ordered for us scheduled the morning we were to depart from the hotel!
I also loved that you had people at front desk who were friendly and told us about the best places to get a crawfish boil. (A must do for my adult daughter).
I was also pleasantly surprised by the technology that permitted us to check in and out via our phones. No keys needed. The provided me with a door code and everything we needed for our stay, including the WiFi (which had a very strong signal).
If I had questions I could text to the same number that they provided the codes and WiFi information and they would respond quickly. This saved us from calling or having to go to the lobby.
I would absolutely stay here again. Jackson Square is right next to the hotel and it’s surrounded by beautiful old magnolia trees.
There is lots to do within walking distance. Plenty to see and do!
very nice experience, everything here is good
Bianca at the front desk was a treasure throughout. We were on the 6th floor, so streetcar noise when passing was muffled. The location next to Lafayette Square was great for us, as we took dogs. Lots of good eats nearby, including a Rouse grocery only 2 blocks down...Streetcar will let you hold lapdogs in your seat without a carrier. Only 3-4 blocks to the start of the French Quarter, and streetcars on Canal go all the way down to Audobon Park. Room service was quick, too! Easy walk to the casino and the riverboats, too!
Staff are lovely. Bianca in particular is very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. Hotel, location and room - all perfect. We loved our stay.
Perfect location between the French Quarter and the Garden District. Being on St. Charles the trolley runs right outside and stops in front of the hotel. We did not find the trolley noise to be disturbing from our room. We did not eat at the steakhouse on the first floor but it smelled delicious and looked very upscale. Beautiful historic building. Beautiful furnishings. Our first room was tight. Meaning close quarters but seemed manageable. We were not there very long before we discovered a problem with the locks. There was no way to reach the front desk so I called the Kasa customer service number in my email confirmation. She was able to reach the front desk and remedy the situation fairly quickly. The front desk attendant ended up moving us to another room which was much more spacious. We were very pleased with the aesthetics. The room was very clean. We were also very pleased with the comfort of the bed. 5 nights on a great mattress was a very pleasant surprise. I would recommend the mezzanine level women's bathroom could have used a thorough cleaning and maybe some update. Not quite to the level of the rooms. Our valet was great, however, the time it took to retrieve our vehicle varied which made timing reservations a bit tricky. For a first trip in New Orleans it was a great stay and we highly recommend it.
.
Location was fabulous. We could walk everywhere or hop the street car! The staff is very friendly and accommodating! Check in and check out are a breeze!! Hotel is clean and bed is very comfortable!!! We will be back!!!!
Our stay at The Lafayette in New Orleans was fantastic, largely because of how accommodating and responsive the staff were. We had complicated flight schedules, arrived earlier than expected, and had a few timing-related requests throughout the stay, and every single one was handled smoothly and kindly.
The team went out of their way to help us with early arrival options, communication around our room readiness, and general support during our stay. Any time we reached out, responses were quick, clear, and genuinely helpful. It never felt transactional, it felt like the staff actually cared about making our trip easy and comfortable.
Travel days can be stressful, but staff made everything feel seamless. If you value flexibility, communication, and attentive service, this is absolutely a place I’d recommend, and would happily stay at again.
The location was perfect. The Lafayette in New Orleans was quaint hotel. Everything was a walking distance, the front desk was extremely helpful on located parking for us for overnight. He went out of his way to help us also was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. I had to say one thing negative it would be the lightning in the room could be improved. But we opened up the curtains and we made it work.
The room was as advertised. It was spacious and clean and the location was safe and close to the French Quarter without the noise.
We enjoyed the walk ability and nearby tourist sites. Great food was within blocks and the nearby square was a great green space.
The only cons were finding the ice machine which was in the M (maintenance) floor off the elevator or the top of the fancy steps. And the bathroom in 307 could have used a good grout cleaning or some new caulking.
Absolutely the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. We paid 3 weeks in advance for 2 nights at the Hotel for our son’s college preview visit at a nearby university. We arrived at 1:30 AM after a late flight, checked in, showered, and were getting into bed.
Shortly after 2am, there was a knock at our door. The man from the front desk said our reservation had been canceled by Kasa, the off property management company, would be refunded and we need to leave immediately. We showed him on our credit card app that we had paid over 3 weeks before and that we had not received any type of cancellation or pending refund. He told us Kasa would need to speak to us on the phone.
We spent the next two hours on the phone on hold with Kasa waiting for someone to explain this issue or reverse it, ulitimatley being transferred and disconnected over and over. The outsourced customer service team couldn’t explain why we were charged, why we had not been notified of cancelation earlier, or why we were being kicked out in the middle of the night. We were told a full refund would be issued to our credit card in 5–7 days. When we refused to leave, they threatened to call the police — even though the room was paid for and we’d done nothing wrong. All we wanted to do was go to sleep because we had an early meeting for the college preview day. We told Kasa representatives that it had to be illegal and was certainly unethical for a hotel to kick us out in the middle of the night when we had paid in full and had done nothing wrong.
Around 4:30 AM, after hours of stress and humiliation, the front desk man finally said we could stay until that morning only— maybe because the police refused to come. By then, the damage was done: no sleep, no apology, and no trust left. To make things worse, Kasa later emailed us saying they’d only refund us for one night because we had stayed one night even though they cost the nights sleep and a ton of stress. We were forced to find another hotel for the second night during a busy weekend at a much higher rate. At the time of this review we have received no refund and there is no pending refund.
Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from Kasa and The Lafayette Hotel. No paying guest should ever be treated this way.
We stayed at The Lafayette Hotel in New Orleans for our anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect! We had a beautiful king-size balcony room that was elegant, cozy, and full of charm—exactly what you hope for in a classic New Orleans stay.
We loved stepping out onto the balcony in the evening to watch the city lights and listen to the sounds of the streets below—it felt like our own little escape in the heart of the city. The staff were so welcoming and made sure everything was just right for our special occasion. The location was perfect too—close to everything we wanted to see, but still peaceful and relaxing when we came back to unwind.
If you’re looking for a romantic and timeless place to stay in New Orleans, The Lafayette Hotel is it. We’ll definitely be coming back!
The only complaint I had was that thr room is dark. An extra lamp would have been nice.
Great hotel and excellent location.
Gets loud at night and elevator broke last day we checked out. It was a great hotel and why it was 4/5 for us.
The hotel is beautiful, both inside and out. The staff is very helpful. We enjoyed New Orleans and our stay at the Lafayette!
Clogged drain in tub entire stay!!!
Staffs are okay.
One queen bed room size is very very small. Inediquete light. No bed side table lamp provided. No tissue paper provided.
Very inediquete outside lights, windows blocked by next door building. Room #415. Never get this room.
