Clove Island Villas & SPA

I can’t recommend Clove Island highly enough. The setting is stunning, right on a super quiet beach and so relaxing and zen. The design of the apartments is gorgeous, so much attention to detail, it felt like a serene beach house. The staff are all amazing, the manager really took time to make sure everyone enjoyed their stay, and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was gorgeous, and the rooms are immaculate - as well as the pool area. The location is probably not for everyone as it is very quiet with nothing really happening around. This was just what I was looking for but if you’re looking for something lively then another part of the island may suit better. The beach is not really for swimming I wouldn’t think, due to the tide. But great to watch all the locals fishing in the morning while the sun is rising. If you’re looking for relaxation and a little Island escape then there is no better place to do it, I’d book again in a heartbeat.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Clove Island. The food and drinks were fantastic and the staff were amazing and very friendly. They were readily available to help and answer any questions we had during our stay. When it came to booking transportation to get around Zanzibar, they made the process easy. The property is nice, if you are looking for a cozy, quiet place secluded from the hustle and bustle, stay here. Also steps away from the beach and safe.

On arrival the Polish owner welcomed us. He seemed a genuine enough guy but we had hoped our money would have gone to people of Zanzibar - not a foreign owner.
The accommodation was amazing - a bedroom and lounge/kitchenette. I think all the other accommodation are a similar set up. It was immaculately clean and decor was modern.
The staff are amazing. Wonderful women who cleaned the rooms and came in every evening to spray for mosquitoes (was not bitten once!). Bar and kitchen staff could not do enough to help. Even made us a fish coconut curry (a favourite Swahili dish) on our last day.
The food in the restaurant is good but could be improved with more local dishes, after all you’re in Zanzibar not Italy or England.
Was a little disappointed to see female manager counting the money from the tip box at the bar and disappearing into the office with it. I sincerely hope the tips go DIRECTLY to staff. My advice - tip staff directly yourself. That way you know they get it.
The beach is a little stony but when the tide is up it’s past the stones and swimming is great. Don’t worry about the seaweed. It won’t hurt!
Internet is intermittent. But we were not interested in keeping in touch with the outside world constantly. Sit by the pool, take long walks on the beach, talk to the staff, they are connected to the island and its culture.
This hotel gets a 7 out of 10.

The property was very nice and the villas were wonderful. It is small with limited villas, which makes it very personal. The food at the restaurant was tasty as well. More options for breakfast would have been nice. The only downfall was the beach, it is really not very user friendly. We went to another beach. The pool was wonderful. Thanks for an amazing stay.

Absolutely incredible place to stay if relaxation is your goal. All the staff were amazing, friendly, helpful and a joy to be around. Hosts were very generous with their knowledge and advice surrounding the area and the island in general. Definitely coming back at some point in the near future.

The host, May was very friendly and helpful. When we arrived, the air condition in the room has issued so she told us upfront and gave us options of either relocating us to another hotel or get free lunch whiles they work on it. Of course, we took the free lunch and the air condition was fined by evening time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The pool and beach were amazing and relaxing and the staff was also very friendly and caring. The breakfast became a bit repetitive over a few days, but the rest of the menu was pretty varied, and food was good. We also did an activity which staff was able to sort out for us, along with transfers in and out of the hotel, which was very useful.

We cannot say enough about the staff at Clove Island!! Management is on top of everything and service staff are outstanding. EVERYTHING is taken care of - all we had to do was enjoy our vacation. Very clean, food is great, and always felt safe. WIFI a little slow in the room, but faster in the restaurant. All units look onto the beach and the property is directly on the beach. You cannot go wrong booking here. We can't wait to return, staff felt like family after 10 days!

If you’re looking for peace and tranquillity Cloverland is the place to be in Zanzabar

Most amazing stay. A 10/10 accomodation. Villas are 6 months old overlooking a turquoise beach. Rooms and bathrooms are beautifully designed, clean and neat. Staff and management are friendly, efficient and very helpful. Gave us a personalised service, regularly interacting with the guests and proving advice and guidance. Their command of the English language is very good. Breakfast and dinners were well prepared, very tasty meals. Location is perfect for couples and family. It is located is quiet Makunduchi, away from the crowds and bustle of touristy locations. The beach was quiet for enjoyment and relaxation.The island is not very large, so visiting the tourist spots was not a hassle. The stay at Clove Island was a key factor to a most enjoyable and beautiful island holiday.

Amazing atmosphere! The staff and managers are very friendly. They welcome you with a beverage and a smile. The hotel is very clean and beautiful. All the staff is very friendly and polite. We stayed their for 3 days with our ten year old son and had a great time.

Amazing new hotel with the best showers and a gorgeous pool. Staff were great and lovely food.

Only downside for me was i was with a friend so felt a little isolated from the rest of the Island. Would be perfect for couples.

Clove Island far exceeded our expectations, in fact we felt sad after we had left despite our next hotel being a big resort with loads more facilities, if i'd had done it again, i'd have spent more time in the impeccably designed, beautiful beach resort that was Clove Island.

- Food was the best by far, best prawns i've ever tasted.
- Spa was an indulgent experience on the rooftop of one of the villas overlooking the ocean and reasonably priced at that!
- Maria the Manager was nothing short of amazing, super helpful, friendly, understood her guests specific needs, always took the time out to find out if we were okay
- Catered to our Halaal requirements
- One of the most reasonable transport services on the island
- Kitchenette was perfect as we travelled with our 2 babies, so needed a stove etc, for milk, noodles, etc
- Bathroom was beautiful
- The complimentary cot even matched the decor of the room, attention to detail was beyond compare :)

Well Done Clove Island, I see big things for you guys going forward! All the best!

Stylish and very well designed hotel in unique place Makunduchi. Hotel has everything what You need to spend your time in the best way you can do. Reataurant offers you fresh and tasty dishes in normal prices. Clove Island is located almost at the beach, so you can enjoy beautifull view from your apartment. Very helpful staff, they organize turist trip or live music jam sessions. If you looking high quality, safe and beautiful place for holiday you should visit Clove Island.

Beautiful hotel located in very nice place, I was really enjoy every moment of my holiday. Perfect dishes, tasty and big portion. Stunning design of interior, and nice views from apartment. Only few steps from ocean. You can also use swimming pool and fully relax

It was Amazing! Hotel is brand new so everything is super clean and in perfect condition. Villas are very stylish, design is stunning, the same as a views from rooms. You can grab a coffee and enjoy watching beautifull ocean. It realy nice. Tasty food is another reasone to choose this place for holiday, fresh meals are very yummy :) Plus for a perfect service, if you need any help, they gonna help you for sure
