Trotz dieser Punkte war es insgesamt ein wunderbarer, entspannter Urlaub in einer traumhaften Umgebung – für uns als Fam
Pros:

Wir haben mit unseren zwei kleinen Kindern zwei wunderschöne Wochen in diesem kleinen Hotel verbracht und können es sehr empfehlen.

Die Lage ist ein absoluter Traum: ein ruhiger, schöner Strandabschnitt, an dem man bei Ebbe eine Sandbank erreichen kann. Für unsere Kinder war das ein echtes Highlight – im kleinen Riff konnten wir gemeinsam Fische und Seesterne beobachten. Solche Naturerlebnisse direkt vor der Haustür sind für eine Familie mit kleinen Kindern unbezahlbar. Im Meer und Pool wurde ausgiebig gebadet und gespielt.

Untergebracht waren wir in einer Villa mit zwei Schlafzimmern, die ideal für uns als vierköpfige Familie war. Das Design der Villa war wunderschön, geschmackvoll und stimmig gestaltet, und die kleine Küche hat uns viel Flexibilität bei den Mahlzeiten für die Kinder gegeben.

Das Personal ist super lieb. Auch die Massagen waren top!

Cons:

Kleine Abstriche gibt es beim Restaurant: Das Essen war solide und kindertauglich mit viel Fisch- und Seafood-Spezialitäten. Allerdings haben uns Erwachsenen dabei manchmal die typischen Gewürze und Geschmäcker der zanzibarischen Küche gefehlt, für die die Insel eigentlich bekannt ist. Für etwas mehr kulinarische Abwechslung und Finesse sind wir daher gelegentlich in Restaurants in Jambiani oder Paje ausgewichen – dort wurden wir fündig.

Auch nicht alle über das Hotel gebuchten Touren haben uns vollständig überzeugt. Bei manchen Bootstouren zu Schnorchelplätzen sowie bei der Sunset Cruise fehlten uns wichtige Sicherheitsstandards, etwa (Kinder-)schwimmwesten, und auch die familienfreundliche Umsetzung ließ zu wünschen übrig. Hier würden wir dem Hotel empfehlen, die Zusammenarbeit mit den jeweiligen Tour-Operatoren nochmal zu überdenken oder Familien klarer zu beraten.

Relaxing Zanzibar stay
Pros:

A lovely place to stay in Zanzibar. The hotel is calm, clean and very beautiful. One of the biggest advantages is the wonderful view of the ocean. It is a great place to rest and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
The room was nice and comfortable, and the team was always kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay .

Disappointing
Pros:

Property with good potential but failed experience for our visit

Cons:

Our stay was extremely uncomfortable. Numerous power cuts that the staff were not adequately prepared or trained for. Left without power , AC or water for hours on ends with no backup. Imagine not being able to shower when a lady really needs to due to biological nature… ended up having to walk along the beach to the nearest resort to use the shower there.
I think ultimately staff should’ve done more check-ins with guests during these circumstances to ensure their comfort as a priority, but no one even gave solutions or checked-in in these emergency situations.

Nice and relaxing stay in the South of Zanzibar
Pros:

The rooms are clean and comfortable, cosy and with a beautiful sea view! The sea is right in front of the hotel. During low tide you can take a strawl to the reef. We were alone at the beach. The service was lovely and the food tasty and well prepared. Power shortages are common and expected here in the south of Zanzibar. It was a nice and relaxing stay - we even could keep the room for the late check-out without any charge.

Cons:

Batterie candles were missing in the room.

Relaxing escape and introverts paradise!
Pros:

From the boho beachy vibe cast away peacefulness to the wonderful staff, Clove Island is everything we (mother and daughter) had been hoping for from our trip to Zanzibar. The food at the hotel was excellent. Very affordable and lots of choice with locally and ethically sourced produce. The breakfast was outstanding with lots of fresh fruit, a selection of bread, eggs and yogurt etc. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive. The facilities and grounds were well kept and always clean. The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. We booked our excursions through the hotel and everything was taken care of and very affordable. During our trips we met some amazing people and learned a lot about life in Zanzibar. All in all we had a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing escape. As two female travellers, we felt safe and taken care of on the hotel grounds and during our trips with the guides and taxi drivers. All of the locals we encountered in Makunduchi seemed very friendly and welcoming too.

Cons:

Clove Island is located in a remote South Eastern part of the Island, so the Taxi journeys from/to the airport and Stone Town etc is hard going. However, for us it was worth it to fully appreciate and experience the peacefulness that came with being away from the busier parts of the Island and getting to see some of the local villages and way of life in Zanzibar away from the tourism. So if you are looking for cast away vibes, you’ll get exactly that here.

Pros:

Très bel hôtel avec une vraie ambiance de vacances. Les chambres étaient propres, le personnel très gentil et on s’est sentis détendus dès notre arrivée. Le séjour était définitivement trop court… Nous reviendrons avec plaisir !
