Great staff who made me feel welcome and valued. They were very nice and helpful starting from the person outside the hotel entrance who provided detailed answers to my questions about parking to the ones who checked me in and out.
I stayed in the King room with kitchen and it’s beautiful, very clean and comfortable. I had a relaxing stay. Also, on-site parking was available and several other parking garages were nearby. Great value.

This was my 2nd visit to the Mark Spenser hotel. I really love this place! The rooms are roomy and comfortable and the walking proximity to various restaurants and other points of interest is great! The staff is friendly and responsive to questions and requests. We look forward to our next visit!
It is a very nice hotel. I love the old building! My only changes I’d make are black out curtains for the windows, and reroute the trolly. These are very minor issues that aren’t even really issues, only slight annoyances.
Location was good, room is small and the noise is really bad from outside and even the floor above us. The staff was kind and friendly.
Thin walls and noisy, small room.
I just wrapped up a three-day stay at the Mark Spencer and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you’re looking for a "foodie paradise," this is it—the location is incredibly walkable and surrounded by some of the best bars and restaurants in the city ( if you like a good old-fashioned, you’ll be in paradise. )
The building itself has that classic, historic downtown Portland architecture, but it’s been beautifully updated and remodeled. My room was a corner unit on the 5th floor and it was surprisingly quiet for being so central. One of my favorite features was the windows; being able to get some real cross-ventilation and a breeze going made the room feel great, though the AC worked perfectly when I needed it.
The place was spotless, the bedding was top-tier, and having a well-stocked kitchenette with real plates and utensils made a huge difference. I also really appreciated the 12:00 PM checkout—most places try to rush you out by 10, so that extra time was a nice luxury.
The staff was helpful and genuinely kind across the board. They have a great coffee bar and do a local wine tasting on weekday evenings that looked excellent. I’m bummed I missed out on the rooftop area since it was still closed for the season, but it gives me a great excuse to come back this summer.
A huge thanks to the team for the incredible hospitality. I’ll definitely be staying here again!
Perfect, central downtown location. Hotel room was nice, liked having stove to make breakfast. Free coffee all day was a perk! Parking was a bit tight but it worked. When we saw it was raining, front desk staff offered an umbrella - great customer service!
I’ve stayed at the Mark Spencer a number of times and I always have a fantastic visit. The staff is top notch and location in downtown Portland cannot be beat. This time I’ve been here for an extended stay and have really appreciated the kitchen in this room. Thanks Mark Spencer!
Great place! So comfortable, huge room and bathroom. Loved the design details. Very friendly staff. Nice little fitness center with basic equipment.
Room adjacent to elevator was a bit noisy (could hear elevator mechanism next door)
I had an amazing stay. Very nice and clean.
I was so fortunate to receive an upgraded room at no extra charge and I was put on the 6th floor.
The view, comfort, quietness and staff made the stay very nice.
Parking is a challenge. We paid to park in the lot across the street and still got a ticket. We never received our deposit back after checking out. There were greasy hand prints on the headboard of our bed
I've been staying at the Mark Spencer Hotel during my last few visits to Portland, it is a gem of a property, and I highly recommend it. The location couldn't be better, as it is within walking distance of shopping, great restaurants, and diverse entertainment. The MSH staff are exceptional, friendly, and they provide above-and-beyond service every time. The building/decor is historic and interesting, I highly recommend staying here for your next visit.
The secure parking, kitchenette in the room, the secluded bed nook.
There was some sort of noise that was a bit annoying but only on this stay. It’s my second stay.
