Very good location and locally owned
My room had no light despite being a "deluxe" room save a shaft. I had no view and never knew there was a choice
Love room 506 for it's openness and room for 2 to get comfortable sitting. The mattress was very comfortable, and the blackout blind perfect. The crown mouldings a bous. We love the lobby carpets too -- bold, bright original and uplifting.
Our room was so comfortable and just what we needed. Prime location, very walkable to great spots, and so many nice touches. We will definitely be back soon!
Updated rooms.
Over a night club so very very noisy most of the night. Parking lot is tight.....good thing I had a back up camera!
The Mark Spencer is hands down the best stay in Portland! Not only is it the perfect central location, but it is the nicest most affordable hotel in the downtown Portland area!
The rooms are spacious and filled with old-school charm. We’ve always had amazing, comfy beds, and a beautiful kitchen
The absolutely best part of the Mark Spencer hotel is the atmosphere every single time I’ve stayed the concierge employees have been welcoming, informational, supportive, and extremely helpful. On our most recent day, we attended the rooftop, complementary wine and cheese, which was accompanied by music from a local artist!
Lastly, we met the general manager at Mark Spencer also named Mark, he was absolutely delightful and gave us even more recommendations for the area and made us so excited to return to Portland in the future!
Overall this hotel was great! Good location and easy to walk to lots of restaurants and Powells. We also appreciated being able to have our dog with us. The only issue was the reserved parking in the garage. The garage was really too tight for just a regular mid sized SUV.
The Mark Spencer is the best hotel in all of downtown Portland! If you’re looking for a place with amazing location, easy access to all of downtown Portland and a beautiful property you found it!
The only down side is because it’s a amazing historic location. There are about 3 to 4 steps. You have to go up to get into the property and when you have a heavy luggage, it’s a little bit of work but they do have wheelchair access if you request!
Comfy bed lovely room and fantastic helpful staff!
Nothing
Had An amazing time staying at the Mark Spencer Hotel for 5 days. I stayed in a room with a kitchenette which had everything you needed to cook on a stove. I would recommend if you’re in the area to check out this hotel or if you’re looking for somewhere to go this is the place.
What a great experience at this hotel, the wife and I loved the ambiance! A mixture of old fashioned with some modern touches made the stay feel like we were on older times. The staff was very personable from the front desk service to cleaning service (had issues with the bank so they were understanding about the issue) tho was not told about the deposit after the payment through the Airbnb website. The doorman/wine bartender stole the show and that wasn't the complementary wine talking. The only hold back was no pool or hot tube but made it up with some free appetizers from a great stake joint near by. This place was the perfect location, very close to a lot of shops including the Powell Book store and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The rooms were very clean and enjoyable. So definitely would again & suggest to others!
Wonderfully comfortable. Not sterile like a Hyatt, just homelike, with great staff and at a great location.
Mark Spencer hotel is great! It’s got an old school vibe and quirky decorations along the hallways. The room is very comfortable and the bed is comfy!
Good location downtown. Near Powell's bookstore and lots of restaurant options. Room was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Free coffee and tea 24 hours. Laundry facility on site (good for a long stay!) Dedicated parking lot.
Could have used more shelf/storage space and towel hooks in the bathroom. There was some noise from people out on the street hours into the evening. Cars were broken into in the area while we were there, but that is apparently an issue city wide and would be an issue at any hotel.
Great location, just blocks from Powells books. Great food options all around. Friendliest staff you will ever meet! Called down for extra towels, there was knock at the door within minutes! Comfy beds. Spacious rooms.
Older hotel, but adds to the charm!
No breakfast provided. Tea and coffee 5 floors down- a little inconvenient. Location was great
View. Access to roof for fire works
