We would definitely return to Mercure on our next trip to Paris.
Pros:

Patrick and the team were outstanding hosts. They looked after our every need with smiles on their faces.

Cons:

The heat wave in Paris ... 40+ is too hot to be tourists.

Pricey but great location
Pros:

Location - Excellent for exploring Paris using metro and public transport. Walk to Notre Dame.
Staff - Very helpful, especially with directions and public transport.
Balcony - A must have so the small room didn't feel claustrophobic.

Cons:

Price - Way too expensive for our usual budget, but the location was super.
Room - I had heard the rooms were small, but this was so much smaller than I ever imagined! We managed okay, though.

We did not stay. We forfeited a nights rent, but I could not stay with the mould.

The location

Cons:

Black mould on the bath, which was also the shower, so there was no way to avoid it. A lot of mould.
Bathroom had a door, but it had a clear glass panel so there was no privacy for using the toilet or shower.
Up 3 flights of extremely tight curved stairs. This was not a deal breaker, but it would stop me from referring friends to use it
