Stay was ok, but we know it could have been better.
Pros:

Location is excellent and staff are friendly. Rooms are very clean.

Cons:

We were disappointed with our room on this visit. As regular visitors, we didn't like that we were offered a room which was smaller than usual. It has coloured our view on the hotel, unfortunately.

Staff are very helpful, but they are too thinly stretched. It's a pity.

Stayed here for a night before getting the boat to Amsterdam. Pool is fab

Pros:

Booking a room at a hotel can usually be a bit of a lottery. However, we've stayed at the Grand Hotel Sunderland about 10 times now and the rooms are always consistently nice. For the price, the room, the bed, facilities and spa are just superb!

Cons:

Nothing we don't like about this place.

An enjoyable stay.
Pros:

The room was as expected, big, clean and comfortable. I enjoyed swimming in the pool every day and the use of the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. I went there to relax for the week and that's exactly what I did. Taking long walks along the beach and enjoying the local area where I grew up.

Cons:

The windows in the room were so dirty that you couldn't see out of the window very well. This was a shame as I had asked for a sea view.
There was a domestic incident in the hotel one evening. The young lady concerned was exiting the corridor and the language was appauling. She was distressed having been thown out of the room by her older partner who had trapped her finger in the door. She was shouting at a friend on her phone as she was leaving. The police attended a short while later. I know that the hotel obviously can't control something like this but I would have felt unsafe if it had continued further.

Lovely hotel comfortable a lot of rowdy neighbours but it was the weekend so to be expected.
Pros:

Very nice room.

Not enough coffee or toilet paper to last stay.

Wonderful

We love it!
Bed is so comfy staff are really friendly and welcoming
Can't wait for our next break here
The leisure facilities are fab and great location.
We enjoy sitting in the lounge due its relaxed and chill vibe where you can watch tv or read a book over a nice (reasonably priced) glass of wine
There was one occasion we stayed here where (for some reason) the hospitality was not as good as we had been used to,
Since that visit our stays after that have resumed to the usual excellent standards.

I made a complaint due in the stay about other people staying was making loud banging sounds screaming loud music I complained about this but it still went on for 5hrs straight this brought mine and my partners stay not good we like do nights away to relax and this is exactly what we couldn’t do it ruined our experience

Beachfront, plenty of parking. Lovely swimming pool. Large dining room.Breakfast was good

Cons:

Only served food till 8.30 pm. Asian food mainly in the restaurant. Quite cold in the bar due to comings and goings through front door.
Our room with a view was very large but not very welcoming but the bed was clean and comfortable.

perfect location, good value for money, nice breakfast and lovely staff

Cons:

I do love a morning coffee in the room so was a little disappointed that there wasn't a kettle etc as stated on the site and the cold tap in the bathroom ran hot water (warm after running for a while), forgot to take bottled water so will definitely remember next time
