Courtyard by Marriott New Bern

Nice breakfast, friendly staff.

I recently stayed at the Marriott Courtyard in New Bern for a business trip, and I cannot recommend this hotel enough! As someone who travels often for work and grew up understanding the hospitality industry (thanks to my mom working in hotels), I know how challenging this job can be. The team at this hotel truly goes above and beyond.

Before my arrival, Reg, the Manager, was incredibly helpful and lovely in answering my questions. Upon arrival, Jen greeted us warmly, gave us a tour, and was so polite, professional, and genuinely kind. Kim in the morning was equally amazing, helpful, kind, and attentive as we prepared for a meeting. Even the barista at the coffee bar (whose name I didn’t catch) was wonderful and made my mornings brighter. I even left my kindle, and they sent it to me right away!

The rooms were clean and comfortable, the views were stunning, but what really sets this hotel apart is the exceptional service. Every staff member I encountered was polite, kind, and a joy to be around. If you're looking for a place to stay in New Bern, this is it. Highly recommend!

The good:
Fantastic water views
Comfortable bed
Quiet
Convenient to historic district

The not so good:
Restaurant on site is basically a Starbucks and not very good. Got a breakfast bowl that was supposed to have potatoes as base but came with rice instead.
Didn’t open until 6:30 so nowhere to get a decent cup of coffee before that without driving. No coffee available in lobby.
On second day of visit water in shower wouldn’t get hot, even when turned all the way to hot it was tepid at best.

We came to New Bern to attend a wedding. Courtyard is not my typical stay, but it was the one where a block of room was reserved for wedding. I will say it was a beautiful stay with an overlook of the water. The property was well maintained and the staff friendly. We had a room on the first floor, with a small, outdoor porch and two chairs. There was a lot of space in the room, and many options within walking distance of the hotel. We walked to some local restaurants for dinner both nights. We had a quiet stay as our room was in the back of the property, in a corner area. I am not sure if there would be any noise or sounds closer to the lobby or restaurant. Sorry I do not have more photos to upload.

Location. Room was nice. Amenities comfortable, and well decorated for Christmas.

Good

We stay here in the fall every year. The water views are worth it at this hotel. The location is great as you can walk to amazing restaurants in the downtown area and don't have to get into your car.
We did have an issue with our room, the AC was leaking. We didn't want to move so they gave us fans to dry the carpet and were very responsive to the issue. The hotel did have a damper smell to it this year but it looked like maintenance we being done in several areas. So hope this will improve next year as we look forward to staying there again.
Request to hotel - please put in more hooks and places to hang wet coats and towels. My photos show the 'towel' areas' they are not adequate for a bath towel. A row of hooks by the door and a few more in the bathroom would be very welcomed.

Great location in walking distance to everything. We never moved our car after we get there until we checked out.

We were completely impressed by this hotel. Our room was great! We were lucky enough to have a view of the river. The quaint, historic town is completely walkable from the hotel. We can’t wait to come back.

Courtyard by Marriott in New Bern, NC from Sept 26–28, 2025. Our experience was unacceptable and fell far below Marriott standards. Upon arrival, front desk staff did not acknowledge us, and housekeeping refused to clean our room or provide towels, citing a two-night minimum, while speaking in a rude and hostile manner. Towels were left at the front desk unattended. Our room (226) was never serviced, the air conditioning failed, causing condensation and a soaked carpet, and there was no water or coffee available.

We left a comment card and voicemail with General Manager Reg Poteat, who denied any refund request in writing without addressing any of the issues. We then asked him for corporate or regional contact information to escalate, but he did not respond. He has completely ignored any & all of my follow up emails.

Perfect location. Beautiful view of Neuse River from balcony. Very comfortable king size bed. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We had to move to a cleaner room !!!

Best hotel ever! The staff is what makes the hotel even more so. Gracious accommodating all employees are just the friendliest bunch. Really love staying here

The view, the noise level of other guests was good, staff, cleanliness.

We stayed for only one night- family of four- and had a very nice experience. The parking was super easy, check in was simple, and there were lots of amenities at the hotel. I especially enjoyed sitting out by the pool with my family in the evening overlooking the sound. It was super relaxing and peaceful. Also all shops and restaurants of downtown New Bern are within easy walking distance. Great stay.
