Days Inn by Wyndham Ankeny - Des Moines

We were looking for an easy access from interstate and this was one. Was able to check in before check in time of 2 pm. When viewing room which was on 1st floor...decision was it wasn't the right place for us due to my allergies and a musty smell. Other occupants were in hotel hallway making environment a little uncomfortable. Returned key backed to desk even before the 2 pm check in time with explanation of needing room closer to Granger, Iowa. Desk person stated could not refund full charge but possible half. I called hotel after returning home checking on refund....person stated not authorized to give refund. Lesson learned!!

Nice rooms

Very nice property that appeared to be well-maintained. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and the linen was fresh. The area around the hotel is great with plenty of dining and shopping.

Ok for the price

Room was not clean. Stains on the bed, hairs on the bed, as if the bedding wasn’t cleaned at all from the previous stayer. Streaks in the toilet. Floor was sticky. Something spilled next to the bed and it was not cleaned, just wiped up, sticky with hairs stuck in it. I didn’t end up staying.

Well maintained property and great value compared to other nearby options. Would only wish for a few more breakfast options but still worth it after that!

The breakfast was not what we expected. They offered yogurt and fruit.

Not a bad deal for the night… property definitely needs some maintenance.. also.. why charge a pet fee per animal?

Staying at this location is underwhelming. My room allegedly was configured to be handicap accessible (hard surface floor and accessible bathroom) but was on the second floor. This location does not have an elevator for someone with that need to access that room.
Stairs looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in over a week.
Breakfast was underwhelming. "Waffles" looked like they were refrigerated Eggo waffles.

Bathroom in the room was still dirty with old hair and stuff stuck to the bottom. A few stains on the sheets. Overall not a bad place when you need a bed and shower for a few days. But I feel like I overpaid for what I received.

Free breakfast was cold items and mostly prepackaged, building and room is in need of updating and maintenance, no water pressure in the shower, beds were okay but the room was clammy (could see daylight around unit), should have been cheaper considering the lack of amenities and facility condition.

Booked two queen beds and the beds were the size of fulls. The breakfast is very minimal.

This is an old property that has been updated to some extent. There is no elevator so keep that in mind. The breakfast was nondescriptive.

This is an older facility that has been remodeled. It was the cheapest on the internet so I wasn't expecting much more than cheap. Owners have done a very nice job of rehabilitating the rooms. My room was clean and simple. I wanted a bed, shower, toilet and that's what I got. Not amazing, but you're not paying for amazing. People that rate this place poorly are expecting more than they are paying for. If you want nice, then pay more. If you want a bed and a shower, this place is for you. I wouldn't plan a weeks stay here, but for a night or two, it fits the bill.

It was fine for a quick overnight stay.

It took forever to check in. They kept saying there system was down but then couldn’t figure out which rooms were and were not available even though they had keys for rooms that were available. It was also very suspicious that they were writing down my ID information and then charged my card 4times for the $25 dog fee for 1 night. They even still keep calling me about needing to charge my card again which when you try to tell the manager that it’s already been charged 4 times he doesn’t listen or seem to understand. This is the 2nd time I have had issues with staff at this hotel. I would not recommend to stay there to anyone.

All fantastic great location and price was great it was super clean and the lobby and the carpet smelled so good and clean
