Pros:

Everything! After the horrible stay in Melbourne, I didn't want to book anymore through booking but this was good! The lady was amazing, the stay was amazing! This is what good hotels looks like.

Loved it and will be back

It was quiet for a city location. The bedding felt like high quality. The restaurant has a fireplace (gas). Reception was very professional.

happy days at Rydges
Pros:

i have difficulty in walking any distance at present, negotiating steps etc. the staff at Rydges were extremely helpful even to the point if setting up my cpap machine for me in my room. i have extended my stay by three days and they were kind enough to bring the bew jey plus payment facility to my room so as i didn't have to negotiate the stairs to the office. The staff have been very kind and i will definitely stay here again on any subsequent trips i make.

Stay was nice, but we did not get what we booked. Would stay there again but would be hesitant to book because of this.
Pros:

Beautiful old main historic building and great location. Room was clean and spacious.

Cons:

We booked a king room with a views of Hobart and surrounds, supposedly at the front of the building. We got a room in the back building with a views of a brick wall, looking into another room.
We raised this with the staff at reception, and it appeared as though he was going to move us, but then asked if we had used the bathroom. I told him that we had used the bathroom and because of this, the room could not be given to anyone else.
After calling the manager on the phone to clarify he told us that in future we need to request a view and they are not always available.

I argued that we actually chose and booked a king room with a view so we should not need to “request” a view.
He then offered us a complimentary breakfast instead, which was a nice gesture but still disappointing that he did not understand that we should not have to request something that we had already chosen and booked.

The “king” bed was also just 2 single bed joined, that ended up slowly coming apart due to not being fixed properly.
Also Netflix would not work on the tv despite being connected to the network.
