Friendly staff at check in
Breakfast was what you would expect at a budget hotel offering complimentary breakfast buffet. Food was warm but not hot. They should have had a place where guests could put their dirty dishes and dispose of their garbage. During busy times, tables were left cluttered and dirty so guests didn’t have a place to eat. Staff was busy putting out more food so time could not be spent cleaning and clearing tables. Furnishings in the room was in pretty rough shape. Old bathroom had dirty grout and worn fixtures. Noisy location. Traffic noise all night long.
All good
Location
I liked the lady that owns the salon, she was very friendly and did an excellent job cutting my hair.
Woke up at 6am to a lady screaming in the hallway.Didn’t feel safe after that, but had to stay because we prepaid for our room. The breakfast was the same everyday, we were there for four nights. The staff were not very friendly, or helpful.
Overall, I’m happy with my stay, but Room 308 has a shower mixer problem. The water suddenly becomes very hot, and after that, it starts sending cold water, which makes it difficult to take a shower.

The break fast was moderate
Our stay at Days Inn by Wyndham Calgary South was very concerning due to a serious safety issue.
In room 129, we found a sharp nail sticking out of the carpet at the entrance of the washroom. This was extremely dangerous and could have easily punctured someone’s foot, especially a child’s. We immediately contacted the front desk, but were told there was no maintenance staff available.
With no support from the hotel, I had to deal with the hazard myself. The nail was very difficult to remove, and I ended up using a stainless steel water bottle to hammer it down just to make the area safer for my family.
This is not a minor issue—it is a clear safety hazard that should never exist in a hotel room. It raises serious concerns about maintenance, inspection, and overall guest safety. I cannot understand how something like this was overlooked.
Overall, this experience was unacceptable and left us feeling unsafe during our stay.
The hotel was conveniently located close to downtown & had free parking
The room smelled like old cigarettes. There was much ado at check in about it being a smoke-free facility, including two confirmations that I understood the no smoking policy. But the guest rooms were outdated, clearly with the same carpets & draperies that had been in place when smoking was permitted in the hotel. It was really unpleasant. The water in the shower was either cold or scalding hot, and moving the tap to find an in between temperature caused the pipe to squeal & water to shoot out of the connection point of the shower head to the pipe. The room was also configured in an odd way, with the TV placed neither across from the sofa nor the beds. It was on a wall next to one of the beds, about 2 ft away from it
For a hotel that costs 150 CAD, the conditions are completely unacceptable. Right outside my room, there is a loud, rumbling compressor, and the room has absolutely no soundproofing. I can hear the TV from the room next door so clearly that it sounds like a radio playing right next to my pillow. It is absolutely impossible to get any sleep under these conditions.
