Absolutely beautiful hotel in charming Chapel Hill
Super convenient for seeing our daughter at UNC and also exploring the area from.
Brilliant hotel cafe and restaurant - great brunch
Lovely runs from front door.
We liked everything
Easily one of my most memorable experiences as a Globalist. The hotel’s location on the UNC Chapel Hill campus is both convenient and distinctive, creating a wonderful sense of connection to the university. The atmosphere strikes a beautiful balance between refinement and warmth. Every staff member we encountered was gracious, attentive, and genuinely professional. The room itself was immaculate, exceptionally comfortable, and impressively quiet. From the thoughtful design to the seamless service and carefully curated amenities, every detail felt intentional and elevated. We also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast — beautifully prepared, delicious, and made with noticeably fresh ingredients. I would gladly return on any future visit to Chapel Hill.
Located in the center of UNC. Room is bigger than expected woth modernized bathroom. Beautiful Interior and courtyard with charming atmosphere.
The pictures online not only match the in person experience, but the in person experience is even better. The beauty of the lobby and the history of information on the walls was splendid. The restaurant was wonderful and so was the grab and go breakfast. The Nespresso in the room was a wonderful touch and loved by me very much.
Hotel is very conveniently located nearby the hospital in Chapel Hill and it was easy to get back and forth with the hotel shuttle. This was extremely convenient for my family visiting a 99 year old grandfather who was being cared for nearby after a fall. The staff were the most accommodating, caring, flexible, and downright incredible. I've traveled 40+ countries and this hotel, close to home for me, will forever stand out as the best hotel experience I've had. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the entire staff team at The Carolina Inn. You made a difficult time a bit easier to manage, and we are deeply appreciative.
Best Hotel in Chapel Hill! They have the benefit of location but the service is excellent and keeps me coming back and looking forward to my next stay. Plus this isn’t any typical hotel. All the rooms have charm as does the entire hotel!
Incredible property. A splendid hotel experience in the middle of the campus of the University of North Carolina, the first public university in America. The hotel itself is exquisite, clean, and inviting. The food is superb. But the location is the key. You cannot get closer to a historic college. It is perfect.
Beautiful hotel. The room and bathroom were lovely, food at the banquet was excellent and the service from the valet parking attendant, to housekeeping, to the front desk was uniformly excellent.
We stayed in the king premium rooms ... worth the upgrade! Staff was accommodating, thrilling atmosphere on game day, and you cannot beat the location. Appreciated the shuttle to the Dean Dome.
The location
The hotel was chaos when we arrived. Pedestrians scattered all over the inside while we were trying to check in. The hotel lobby bathroom was crowded with non guest and messy. We tried to get a drink at the bar for over 30 minutes and gave up. Our group of 4 had 2 rooms and the restaurant would not accommodate a table for dinner ... at that time there were several empty tables. The room was very small and cramped... a random massive chair took up the majority of the space. We could barely move around. It was expensive and stressful.
A beautiful place to stay for Christmas while visiting our son and daughter in law in Chapel Hill! Lovely Christmas decorations and yummy cookies!
a visit is well worth the time and experience to learn more about its history and appreciate the hotel and Chapel Hill area
Exceptional stay! Close to Franklin Street and of coursethe beautiful campus of UNC. I also loved how beautiful the Inn was decorated for Christmas.
Short stay to see the town because my wife went there for college. Was a lovely stay in a centralized location to see both the campus and the town. Everyone was super friendly and helpful.
We stayed two nights for an anniversary getaway. We were looking forward to sleeping in and relaxing around the hotel when we weren't Christmas shopping.
GOOD: The room was perfect. I can't enough about how nice the furnishings, amenities, and decor is throughout the entire hotel, including our room. Housekeeping did an outstanding job; the place was spotless. Parking attendants made getting in and out very easy.
BAD: The landscapers started blowing leaves just before 8AM. We're normally up very early for work, so 8 isn't very early for us, but we were surprised they allowed this right next to the rooms so early. It really defeated the point of such a luxurious room. Despite a few signs throughout the lobby discouraging student use, there was no effort to control this activity by management, and it showed. We noticed as soon as we arrived. The lobby had students everywhere, many of them in sweatpants with headphones on and their feet up on the sofas. I get it, we're right next to campus. Not that long ago, my wife and I were college students also and we understand needing a quiet place to study; but there are plenty of plces on campus. Aside from the simple lack of decorum, it wasn't inviting at all. The lobby of a hotel like this is meant to be a lively and social place. Instead of feeling like we could have a drink and socialize or play a board game at the tables provided in the lobby, (There are no tables in the rooms for this) we were being side eyed by sophomores cramming for 1st semester exams that had no business there anyway. At $500+/night. I'd expect the management, which seemed non-existent, to kindly ask them to go study on campus.
