Our 9/10/25 stay at Courtyard by Marriott Springfield was an absolute nightmare. If I could give zero stars, I would.
The first room we were given had a urine-soaked bed. I only realized the source of the smell after sitting on it—long enough for the urine to soak through my clothing. Absolutely revolting. If housekeeping can overlook something this obvious, what else are they missing?
The front desk manager was apologetic, comped the room, and moved us to another. But the “new” room wasn’t much better: torn curtains, dusty surfaces, and an overall unclean impression. We tried to sleep anyway, only to be woken around 1:00am by loud, repetitive beeping. After more than an hour, I discovered the source: an all-night highway construction project just outside our window. The beeping gave way to jackhammers, making sleep impossible.
When I complained again, I was told the hotel had no control over city construction—and reminded that I wasn’t being charged. But a free horrible experience is still a horrible experience. It’s hard not to believe the hotel knowingly gave us the last available room precisely because it was uninhabitable. Why weren’t we transferred to another Marriott property, or even one of the many other hotels in the area?
The issues didn’t stop at checkout. Despite my request, the hotel manager never responded to my email. Marriott corporate has also been unhelpful, with one rep even admitting my complaint had been sent to the wrong property.
I don’t write negative reviews lightly, but I’ve been left with no choice. This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had—unsanitary, unresponsive, and unacceptable.
