Cascades Mountain Resort, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Better than many VRBOs we have stayed in. It claims to be lacking in amenities but that is definitely not true. Full kitchen, two large bedrooms, nice livingroom. Loved staying here.

Closed by Fire Marshal 4/11/2025. The city closed the motel due to non functional smoke alarms and generally unsafe conditions. One look inside and decided to go elsewhere. The management claims they will start renovations soon, but they obviously have put nothing into it for a long time.

Can’t even begin to say what a horrible experience this hotel was. Our room safety lock on door was broken - hallways were dimly lit, the staff was very unhelpful. When we tested the door lock they sent a janitor to “unlock” the door with a screwdriver. The pool was dirty, hot tub was not working, the ice machine looked like it had some sort of nasty leakage. The list goes on. We cancelled our reservation after being denied another room and left. They said Expedia would issue the refund. Expedia claimed the hotel was the only one who could approve the refund. The hotel lied and said there were “no issues” & that the booking was completed & successful. Outright lies. It took over 2 months to get a refund and we got it ONLY by filing a claim through our bank. Never, ever again with this hotel or chain!

This place is horrible. I have always gone for my grandkids to swim. The beds are from 1970s. The floors are nasty. The kids running around were rude and unsurprised. It's a shame because it has so much potential. It used to be nice years ago. If the beds were comfortable I would at least tough it out. Our door didn't even have a lock.

This place is filthy, the restaurant is closed, pool was closed the rooms smell like mold and the place is falling apart. We checked out early but the hotel refuses to issue the refund they promised me for the two nights we didnt end up staying. Claiming it was a no cancellation reservation. I didnt cancel i had to leave early because your hotel is a bait and switch dump. You offered non of what your website offered but you want to hold me to a “no cancellation” policy. This place should be condemned.

We arrived at the hotel to check in... there was nobody at the front desk...had to ring the bell several times before the lady came up...our room wasn't available that I reserved a month ago...the hotel was under remodeling and no pools or hot tub was open...this was very disappointing because it was my birthday...we had to cancel our reservation and find another hotel room.

The worst ever. No staff, poor communication. Had a birthday party planned here and was canceled within 24 hours of event. Claimed it was double booked, then claimed it was a mechanical issue? Tell your 7 year old her birthday is canceled and no make it up or credit, just... is what it is. Seriously?! Say less... will be last place I recommend as a local to anyone that asks. Furthermore as a tourist, know there is no one there to handle your services or complaints

If you haven’t checked in yet, do yourself a favor and walk across the street. Thank me later.

We booked this hotel for the pool. Come to find out, they rent the pool for birthday parties, so that means, if during your stay they have rented the pool you cannot use it. On the day we were supposed to stay the pool was not available until AFTER 4pm. The front desk told me that the people that rent the pool party are paying double to rent the pool and that it was not opened to HOTEL GUEST until after 4. It was lunch time at that time. With that being said, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO STAY. The rooms are very old and outdated, the hotel says please bear with them during their renovations, but the renovations were not the problem. The rooms were disgusting. The beds and bed sheets were stained and dirty with dirt and hair in the sheets. There was one bath towel, and two hand towels hung up for use. We had four people. There was an ant type bug that crawled across the bed while we were there. The bathtub and bathroom sink had dirt and grime. There was blood on the floor Infront of the toilet. The floors had not been swept and the carpet, which is very old, was not vacuumed and the rooms smelled terrible. There was mold on the celling, and the first room we tried out the bathroom ceiling looked to be caving in. We were switched into a different room that was slightly better, but again, dirty beds and bed sheets, mold. Bad smell, and there was electrical wires and things falling off of the walls. There was broken hangers as if they did not bother to clean up after the last guests. The hotel needs to be shut down for a deep cleaning and renovations and then reopened. With the right management this hotel could be a gem. I saw a man getting a vacuum cleaner out of his personal car when leaving. Apparently, they do not have a maid/cleaning service they use. The food service score was an 87, posted behind the front desk. The front lobby has couches we were asked to sit at. The couches look like those you would pick up beside a dumpster and were half covered with a couch cover and the other half was peeling leather. We chose to stand. I also do not agree with the pool renting as that is an amenity that should be available to all guests during their full stay. We left the same night and I went back the next day and received a FULL refund. I did have to argue and get a bit ugly to get my money returned as I was told the manager was in Atlanta and there was nothing the receptionist could do, but I am happy I was refunded. We had to find another hotel and ended up in Asheville 30 minutes away to find a room at 2 am after spending 2.5 hours trying to make the accommodations work with three tired children.

Wow came up here for rest and relaxation. Seen had a indoor pool and hot tubs good place to go cause it's cold. Well checked in all pool area closed for cleaning for 3 days. Think they need to update web site and let people know. Our first room they give me had a surprise roaches and mold on bathroom ceiling. Moved us to another room we at least found very few. Ready to relax after seeing the town we still had no cable . I know it had been out since 5am why hasn't it been fixed. I will never be coming back here or referring someone to stay here.

The whole place was dirty, roof leaking, and shady. Our room was supposed to be ready at 4PM, we waited until 8PM and the guy at the desk wanted to switch rooms, switch beds, and charge another fee. Unfortunately i had to get Expedia involved and they thankfully switched us to a hotel down the road at no extra cost.
We pulled in and our room was ready upon arrival. I would not recommend Cascadia to my worst enemy. Please avoid it

I have been traveling for work for over 20 years and stayed in hundreds of hotels. I am now retired, and my wife and I are traveling quite extensively for pleasure. I have never given a hotel below a 3, until now. This was by far the worst experience my wife and I have ever had in a hotel. After checking in, we went to the room and were greeted with dirty sheets, no towels and no toilet paper. Dirty rugs, I mean don't even think about walking around in the room without socks or shoes, disgusting, same with the halls throughout the hotel. Very run down and dirty place. Toilet backed up and when we went to the desk they actually handed us a plunger, i mean, REALLY, they didn't even want to send maintenance, just have the guest take care of it. I am only at the tip of the iceburg on these comments/complaints, too much to list and dont really care enough after this gross stay. This is one of many Choice hotels in there lune of hotels and is THE WORST. I believe this is the final straw with choice hotels, this brand has been going downhill, but this place has taken the award for the worst. Good luck if you choose to stay

Went to check in, waited 40 mins to get checked in, room was ok, had to go back down to the front desk every day to get a fresh towel and toilet paper.

Do NOT go here!! They rip people off, charge your card for no reason, roaches, owner says you're a liar...in fact he was lying. Lights didn't work, heat didn't work, fridge didn't work, room was nasty, charged a deposit without telling me, then was told I could get it back as cash, then told me I couldn't upon checkout and was told it wasn't possible staff said I could, but of course the owner wasn't even there when I was told so. Refused to move me when roaches were found in my room, was told if I wanted a refund I had to contact priceline (I didn't pay through priceline) I did report to the health department and BBB and if my money doesn't find it's way back onto my card I will be seeking legal representation

I honestly do not feel that it was worth paying to stay at. I waited at the desk ringing the bell to check in for about 20 mins. Every surface was wet from the lobby to the hallways and the rooms. There were multiple leaks in the ceiling, one of which caused my daughters friend to fall on the stairs injuring her ankle. The room had trash behind stand and couch. It smelt of mildew everywhere. Sheets were stained and dirty. When i asked for sheets and a blanket for the pull out sofa i was told he could give sheets but did not have a blanket. The rooms had roaches. We woke to the sound of power tools all through the night. The side door to the building did not have a lock so anyone could roam in and out freely. The swimming pool had multiple hair balls laying at the bottom of the pool. The guest laundry/vending area was infested with roaches and only had a dirty ice machine, broken soda machine and a dryer. When I book the rooms there was no information given on renovations and was under the impression that the only problem they were having was the hot tubs. Their photos and overview are completely deceiving. I truethfully want a refund.

This place COULD be such a gem, SO much potential!!! Please management fix this hotel up!!! It is so unique and could be such an amazing experience for kiddos! I used to come here when I little and have such fond memories; however took my child here last year and was definitely cringe worthy. Buckets for leaks and found someone else’s undergarments in our room! However the pool is so awesome and is such a unique experience with it being in the lobby area! They need to put money into to keep it up!! It takes money to make money!!

There was no wifi, no breakfast, no hot water, mold in rooms, foul smell, and our room was open when we came to it giving us concerns for safety.

This place was horrible and I ended up leaving within the first ten minutes. Initially, I couldn’t use the key to get into the room. I tried and tried and tried, and it was an actual hard key, not a card. It looked like the door key lock system has been taken apart and scrambled back together, and I could not figure out how to get the key to work. I went back down to the desk and was told that it was impossible that the key couldn’t work and to go try again. I went and tried again and it still didn’t work so I went back to the desk and the worker seemed very frustrated, took the key, and jogged to the room ahead of me. As I got there, he had just opened the door. I asked him to show me how he unlocked it in case I needed to go out of the room at night. I was traveling by myself, by the way. He told me that I could just leave the door open and that it would be fine, but emphasize the fact that I should just go to bed and not have to leave the room anymore. I was a little frustrated at that, but after I got into the room, I found that it was very hot and humid. I tried using the air conditioner and ultimately found that it was unplugged so I plugged it back in. The AC was set on heat at 84° and I was not able to change it. I tried to call the desk and nobody answered. I was a little flustered, but willing to deal with how hot it was in the room room. Unfortunately I saw bedbugs and when I told staff why I was leaving they said that was impossible and likely baby roaches instead
