Hyatt Place Greenville/Haywood

I have always been a loyal Hyatt guest, which made this experience even more disappointing.

Upon arriving in my first room, I discovered that the mattress was not enclosed in a protective cover and had several large red stains, which resembled blood. The condition of the mattress was shocking, unsanitary, and honestly unsettling. I immediately notified the front desk, and instead of someone coming to inspect the room, I was asked to take pictures and bring them downstairs before being moved to another room.

Unfortunately, the second room wasn't much better. That mattress was also uncovered and appeared dirty. At that point, I requested Lysol so I could disinfect the room myself. Rather than having it delivered, I was told I needed to come back to the front desk to pick it up. Later, when I needed additional towels, I was informed there was no one available to bring them to my room and that I should flag down a housekeeper if I happened to see one on my floor.

The lack of cleanliness was concerning, but what disappointed me most was the customer service. The front desk suggested I speak with the manager, James, and assured me he would provide Hyatt points for the inconvenience. When I met with him, he seemed indifferent and stated that moving me to another room was the solution. There was no apology that felt genuine, no follow-up, and I never received the points that had been promised.

I understand that problems can occur at any hotel. What separates a great hotel from an average one is how those problems are handled. In this case, I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously or that my loyalty as a Hyatt guest was valued

I was in Greenville for a two day class. This was my first stay at this Hyatt Place location. The hotel lobby and breakfast areas were clean. My room was clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. Although the hotel is close to a variety of dining and shopping options, it is challenging to get in and out to the main streets.

I like almost everything about the property. I’ve stayed there more than a dozen times. This last time I stayed there though I was charged $198.03 for a deposit fee and have called the Hyatt in my bank and the money has still not been released back to me. It’s extremely frustrating because I do really enjoy this Hotel and the staff but this is BS. What’s going on right now the amount charged to me was over the amount of the entire state that I was there which is crazy. Some kind of compensation should be held for occasions like this.
