Excellent location, beautiful and traditional decor, comfortable bed
carpark access to hotel is not very convenient, car park is quite pricey
What an exceptional hotel. From the minute, I walked to the front door, the doorman handled my suitcase, with a smile on his face. Check in staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast staff were also informative and interested.
The room had everything, and was exceptionally clean.
Nothing at all.
We had a great experience at this hotel. Upon arrival staff was all very helpful and welcoming. Quick check in! As soon as you step off the sidewalk on to the property you will feel the difference
Wonderful
Close to harbour front
The staff from the front desk, housekeeping and the restaurant absolutely met expectations. The quality of the bed and bedding, as well as the amenities such as the coffee machine, blow dryer, toiletries, and so forth, were top-notch. I was delighted to hear there was a laundry facility, and that was a game-changer! The location was good, with some amenities nearby. I was in a small corner room, but there was a substantial closet where I could store my luggage comfortably. The TV was a great size, making it comfortable to rest.
I was delighted by the service and food quality at the restaurant, which easily rivalled the Keg. I was comfortable, and the local cider they have is amazing!
In this particular room type, the shower curtain was ineffective and disrupted a pleasant shower, causing puddles to form too easily (sealed glass doors are needed for that small shower). There was nowhere to place shampoo, conditioner, and soap, which was unfortunate. The bathroom lighting needs an upgrade, with makeup lights or brighter options.
It is an older property, and I can see where they tried to repair before painting, but some proper spackling would give it a truly refreshed look. The wifi was decent enough, but I had a Zoom work call that froze several times, so it would be nice to have a plug-in option for a stronger connection.
Mooi in het centrum en toch rustig
Niets
Based on the great reviews, we chose the Lord Nelson and were quite satisfied with our selection. The location across from the public gardens is wonderful and it’s within walking distance of all the tourist sites. Service was nice and the hotel had an old world elegance that was very charming. It did show its age and the elevators were easily overwhelmed. I might try a newer hotel if we returned to Halifax but all in all we were very happy with our choice.
Great central location. A hotel that oozes old school charm. Lots of small touches that made the stay special. We booked 3 rooms and everyone in the group was very happy with the hotel. Probably the best stay of our 11 day Maritimes vacation.
I booked the hotel as it was across the street from the Public Garden. It was clean and comfortable. The food in the Resturant was amazing. I ate there 3 times. I had a view of the park across the street.
Location and friendly staff are selling features here. The building is old with thin walls DO NOT stay in room 419. Extremely loud noise of water rushing through closet every time neighbouring rooms flush toilets or take a shower.
Beautiful location. Great hotel
The rooms could been a little more posh to match the hotel.
Eines der ältesten Hotels in Halifax und noch immer eines der besten. Ein Hotel, in dem man noch die Fenster öffnen kann.
Room was big and had a nice view of the park across the street. The nespresso maker and check in upon arrival were appreciated.
Bathroom was very small and awkwardly laid out, which made maneuvering difficult. Bathroom door did not close all the way. Elevators were very slow- so slow and repeatedly full that after waiting on 4 separate elevators over 10 minutes, we opted to carry our luggage down 6 flights of stairs.
Everyone friendly, rooms and hotel were clean, great location across the street from beautiful public gardens, and the harbor is walkable.
Room, we had was quite small, as was the bathroom. The hotel is old, so kind of expected. A bit pricey
