There was a happy hour with drinks and food when we first arrived as well as a nice breakfast selection. The location was great and walkable to many restaurants.
I love the location. It's close by to good restaurants and food joints.
The room was clean, well appointed, comfortable. No complaints!
The breakfast wasn't fabulous, but that's OK. It was the quality of the room that counted.
Great location. Easy access to downtown and the high way. Rooms were clean.
The rooms have no sound proofing from the hallway. Doors were constantly slamming in the middle of the night and tons of hallway chatter until 3am.
Evening front desk, Person was very grumpy and rude
Room 119
Towels were dirty. Door to bathroom was extremely squeaky and did not close . Cleaning people left hanging hangers on door jam in bathroom which feel Nd barely missed my ed upon closing door.
Was told manager was not there and to call on Monday. Front desk person did not write anything down
Bird poop on windows. Gross. I had to get 3 different rooms . The third room, without bird poop had a shower that didn’t work. At least the manager was kind, trying to get a better room. I left 2 days early because of conditions. Not to mention the freeway noise was outrageous. I do not know why this property has such a high rating!
Love the proximity to the pier/beach and downtown Main Street. Love the free parking and daily hot breakfast. Enjoy the fresh homemade salsa made by staff, actually look forward to it every year.
No complaints this trip.
Unless you are impervious to the smell of mildew and noise, stay away from this hotel. The 4.8 star rating is purely fictitious. This place rates1 star at best. It is on top of the 101 highway and Amtrak line. You will feel the traffic and not sleep. The mildew and mold smell in the room (#103) is off the charts. Finally don’t fall for rooms having an ocean view. The only view you see is when you stretch your field of vision beyond the highway that is right next to your window to see the ocean in the distance.
Breakfast was good
Pool very small
BREAKFAST
NOW A SURCHARGE ON BALCONY ROOM
The cleaning staff and breakfast staff were very nice. The breakfast was awesome!
I always try to be fair in my reviews, so if I’m frustrated with a place, I usually wait to write a review. This was our first vacation in a very long time and we chose Amanzi hotel, as it had outstanding reviews, is close to Ojai and also to the ocean. We also chose this room because it advertised a patio to look out from and enjoy a view. What was advertised and what we got, was like day and night. First off, a smaller but equally frustrating thing, was the complete lack of any water pressure. I have medium length, curly hair. No exaggeration, it took me over 20 minutes, just to wash and condition my hair and because of the terrible water pressure , it was also irritating trying to get all the body soap off. But, I let that go, figured I’d just deal. Then came the air conditioning. It’s summer in CA and near the ocean, so it’s hot and humid. The air conditioning was completely broken. It put out some air but not cool at all, let alone cold. I let it go a couple days, as we were really busy and I didn’t have time to deal, so we just dealt with our room being warm and muggy. I finally did deal, as we had five days. Maintenance arrived and looked at it and said a bigger hole would need to be made in the wall to replace it and he would do it when we left around 1. We just needed to notify the front desk when we left, and we did just that. When we returned late in the evening again, still no working air conditioner. We are now on our fifth day and fourth night, and still no working air conditioner. Then, there’s the “balcony” with the view of the ocean, which is why we initially chose this hotel to begin with. We wanted to be able to have a glass of wine and just look out. Nope, not in the least bit. It was not a balcony area, it was more of an enclosed, teeny tiny, cement, jail cell.
