Dear Management,
I am writing to express my disappointment with our family's recent stay during Pioneer Day. Family members traveled from Kentucky, Alabama, Oregon, Arizona, and California, and we all agreed that the hotel was overpriced for the quality provided.
While the exterior and lobby were attractive, the property itself was poorly maintained. There was a noticeable musty odor throughout the building, broken rooftop tiles, dirty windows, and visible cobwebs. More concerning was the consistent frustration we witnessed from guests regarding malfunctioning key cards, reservation errors, and room assignment issues. We observed multiple guests becoming upset, including some who had reserved two-bed rooms but were given only one bed.
My mother's reservation was especially mishandled. She reserved three rooms for three nights several months in advance. After confusion regarding payment due to a new reservation system, she ultimately paid in advance. Despite this, one prepaid room remained vacant while our relatives, Allen and Pam Morgan, were told no room was available and paid separately for another room. Later, they were interrupted during our family celebration and told to vacate because the hotel claimed the room had not been paid for. This caused unnecessary stress and disrupted an important family event.
At checkout, we were also denied a printed receipt and told it would only be emailed. This is not an appropriate policy, especially for elderly guests like my mother, who no longer has access to her email. Printed receipts should always be available upon request.
Given the reservation errors, unnecessary stress, and poor overall experience, I believe my mother deserves compensation, including a refund for the unused prepaid room and consideration for the inconvenience your staff caused our family.
The reservation may have been under a misspelled version of Susan McGee Stowell, with family names including Dodd, Morgan, or Megill.
Historic feel, great location and really friendly staff.
Because it’s an older facility, there are signs of wear. I don’t mind it at all; but others might.
My room was tilted.
Cold SPA
Room was coasy, everything was clean. Easy for parking
Large room, plenty of space. However, some people we talked with said they were in the older section, and didn't have enough space. At any rate, out room was fine. There was a problem with the billing, because they were changing to a new system. The problems was handled in a few days. The room was very clean.
The hotel isn't very far from 101, and there is plenty of parking, including a parking garage.
The history of the hotel and people working there. Very kind and helpful.
Rm 371 was much better than the room I stayed in on June 12, was in the older part of hotel.
Rm 371: Found dirt collected in some corners along the baseboard near the bed.
Shades were difficult to close on both sides.
Wasn’t easy to find a news channel on the TV.
Staying here on the night of June 12th was not planned, plans got changed at the last minute.
The room I stayed in on June 12, was in the older part of hotel and it was terrible. Over priced for what I got. Patio doors couldn’t be locked. Arm rests of chairs were tacky. Wrapped one down with a white wash cloth, Afterwards it was no longer with, but dirty brown.
It's a beautiful old building although it could use some updates.
I got cushions rather than pillows on the bed and the restaurant got our orders wrong. Also the staff asked other members of our party to deliver messages to us about our food instead of delivering them and after telling us on the phone that we could late checkout, they did not put it in the computer and we got locked out of our room with our luggage inside.
