Breakfast was good
Exercise room was too small
Always a pleasure to stay at the Hampton Inn Chester South. Friendly greeting at the front desk. Very accommodating when an extra blanket was requested. Quick, easy breakfast in the morning. Looking forward to next visit.
Just don't. Tiny outdated rooms. The parking lot is dark. The hotels is next to I-95 and road noise is a problem Its plain the operator is not investing in the property. The furniture is vintage 1990's. It is not a quality Hampton Inn experience. It will probably rebranded something down market soon. In addition, there is a five dollar hidden parking fee in Chester, VA. Parking was not disclosed upfront during booking. It is buried under amenities in the hotel website and not included when booked or shown as to be paid at the property when booked. Don't reward drip-pricing and practices. The operator appears to be afflicted with naked greed.
Location was great
The ceiling look like the rain had come down, and it needed repairs
Room
Food. Breakfast could be better. Some bacon. Se scrambled eggs would have been way better than that sausage and folded egg
The breakfast was great!
Check in and check out were very easy. The staff was very friendly and sent text messages checking to see if everything was ok. They had a coffee bar that was open 24hours which was very nice. The room was clean and very quiet. This was our 2nd time staying here and we will come back again.
The room was very clean, BUT it had a very strong MILDEW smell. I attempted to get another room, same MILDEW smell. The staff tried to accomodate, and was aware of the issue. I will not stay there again. Air Quality was HORRIBLE
Stay anywhere else!
When I arrived there was no one at the desk. I waited, called our, waited some more, called out. Finally the clerk came…no greeting. No smile. No welcome. He did give me two waters.
The first room (211) smelled: a combination of damp, moldy order and animal. While yhe bath and bed had been cleaned/made, there were dog treats on the floor.
I called and attendant brought me the key to room 209. Although clean there was nothing fresh about the room. It, too, smelled but it was a closed, damp, mild smell - no animal smell. I was exhausted from traveling and hoped the air-conditioning would help with the smell , and it did to some extent. I was very sorry I had not brought Fabreeze or Lysol with me.
This is not what I expect from Hilton and Hampton Inn.
When I looked over my bill the next morning, I realized they charged $5;for my car. I really think it had the better deal.
Friendly and helpful staff. Clean room with comfortable beds and pillows. A/C rattled like a freight train. The entire hotel needs to either be renovated or imploded. Staff told us that a new Hampton Inn is scheduled to open 02/26, and that they will be moving there. Our advice is to stay somewhere else until the new hotel opens.
The reservation we made was not confirmed by the hotel. We reserved 2 double bed rooms. No double bed rooms were available when we arrived. They only had 1 room with my “reservation.
They informed me the issue was not their problem because the 3rd party reserving did not confirm availability wi the them.
Dirty as I have ever seen
The hotel is closing very soon as a new building is being put up next-door. The room was musty on the first floor it had rained we checked in at midnight they said they would’ve tried to move us to another room upstairs, but it was very late. they should not have rented out the first floor at all… The breakfast in lobby the next day were fine.
The room smelled moldy and damp. Black mold in bathroom. Smell was over powering and kept us both awake
The worst experience. We stopped for 1 night traveling from FL to NY. We got in late. Got no sleep because our room had an overwhelming smell of cat piss. Left early next morning to get on the road. Left my wedding, engagement and 1st anniversary diamond rings on the desk in the room. Realized they weren’t on my hands several hours later. Called the hotel and received no cooperation. They wouldn’t even consider their housekeeper (who they told me was the only one who had been in the room) could have taken them. She was still there. They could have done more. They even told me they are not responsible for lost property. My husband passed 5 years ago and these rings were very important to me. I’m devastated.
