The Benson Hotel

Very satisfied to have our second stay at Benson Cairns. This hotel offers a rarity in Cairns, where there can be 2 Queen-Sized beds within the same room. This was a great plus for us!

Room was extraordinarily clean with sufficient amenities. The room is very well designed - and gave us a very peaceful sleep at night. Restaurant is located within the building, and has plenty of options for all palettes. Also, the restaurant has regular events on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights for a chill hangout with friends. The swimming pool was very clean and organised - with lots of deck chairs to go around.

Would strongly recommend to all visitors heading to Cairns, a legendary place for families and friends to reside in!

Beds comfortable. Bathrooms stunning. Noise at night absolutely disgusting. Not only from the street, but in the hallways of levels. They need security to manage. Teenagers knocking on our room door and running away at 2am. Not relaxing at all.

We attended for a staff Christmas party, the set up was lovely, staff were friendly and professional. The food was amazing, we loved it!

Overall, I had a comfortable stay with few inconveniences, and the reception staff were efficient and polite.
However, the safe was malfunctioning and couldn't be repaired, so I couldn't use it during my stay, which was a little worrying. That was the only downside.

Comfortable hotel with great rooms and pool. Beds are comfortable, bathroom is modern and the hotel feels very safe. Highly recommend

The casting from phone to tv did not work in the room, which was the only reason I booked the hotel because it was advertised with a smart tv. Very disappointed as I was looking forward to catching up on shows before an early flight. however reception gave me a drink voucher and said numerous people had complained their smart tvs were not working either.

Pool was nice and clean. Bar and restaurant pretty quiet.

The location is pretty convenient, located in the centre of the CBD and close to alot of shops. Although, we only stayed the night and checked in pretty late since our flight home was cancelled, they were able to accommodate our check in just a few mins before midnight on a Monday night.
The double room was pretty spacious and comfy, the large double beds were perfect for me, my partner and our co-sleeping 2yo.
The bathroom was good although, I hoped they had some toothpaste included with the available toiletries.
Breakfast was available, great with assorted pastries, fruits, cereal and hot food. It was great that we were able to ask for non-dairy milk for my toddler due to her dairy allergy.
Only downside I guess was at the time, the porte-cochère was being renovated so you get picked up or dropped off on a section of the road.

stayed one nite for business- could not sleep at all. The Air Conditioning in the hotel is obviously very old and has a terrible fan forcing the air sound all night . Even when the A/C is turned off in the room - the fan keeps forcing the air and the sound is like being on a aeroplane - terrible to try and sleep

Fast and smooth check-in. Nice spacious room. Big TV. Comfortable bed. Good shower pressure. Reception staff kindly extended check-out time and stored our luggage. Good location! Thank you, will definitely stay here again :)

The location was amazing. The hotel is close to shopping and restaurants, walking distance from The Esplanade if you are doing any boating excursion, also an easy walk to the train station for the trip to Kuranda.
The room was very clean and quiet, the pool inviting. Most of all the front desk staff were always friendly and gave excellent advice on where to get a great coffee.

I travel to Cairns regularly for work and stayed here recently based on a colleague’s suggestion. While the room itself was visually appealing and well-presented, the overall experience was disappointing.
• Lift Issues: The lift was unreliable. Instructions said to hold the key for 4 seconds until the light turned green, but it often flashed red and only worked after multiple attempts and holding it in place for 10-20 seconds. This became frustrating quickly as you couldn’t get upstairs without it going green.
• Room Key Problems: My key cards frequently failed to work, requiring two trips to reception to have new ones cut. Staff mentioned the system uses old technology, which seems to be a recurring issue.
• TV Error: The television displayed a message saying my room wasn’t checked in. Reception assured me it was fine, but the error persisted and I couldn’t use the TV during my stay.
The staff were polite and tried to assist, but the technical issues made for a frustrating stay. The best part was checkout. The staff member was lovely and it was the easiest part.

4 star hotel that with a bit of management imagination like using giant umbrellas around the pool and more plants could be a 5.

Great location in central Cairns. Facilities were wonderful. Very helpful staff that made us feel very welcome. Parking available.

We were disappointed with this hotel. We are locals and have stayed at many of the hotels, but thought we'd try The Benson this time, and sorry we did. Signed up as members which was meant to provide an early check in, late check out, bottle of wine and 20% off dining/drinks. Room rate was cheaper on expedia, but this direct deal sounded good.
Called on the day to ask about checking in early, was told told quite abruptly that check in time is 2pm, unless they call us back... they never did.
Restaraunt and bar was closed, so the 20% discount was utterly useless. No wine in the room, had to go down to reception to request as they would not answer the phone.
Didn't bother requesting a late check out as we couldn't wait to leave.
The receptionist was uninterested and quite rude. It doesn't hurt to smile love, our first impression was not great, and we would not return again.
I also work at a local information and booking centre, will not be recommending The Benson thats for sure.

We had a 3 night stay at The Benson which has recently been renovated and it was fabulous. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable.
Unfortunately my wife stood on a broken piece of glass shortly after we entered the room and the young receptionist was unable to provide a bandaid instead she found a couple of alcohol wipes and a bandage 🤔 As we checked out we mentioned to 2 receptionists that we had concerns about their first aid policy and lack of follow up from the management team. 5 days later and still nothing sadly.

Nicely positioned hotel, a short walk to the esplanade ( good dining area), boat trips, shopping centre etc.
Pool area was more than adequate, breakfast buffet was well stocked with a good choice, staff were always pleasant and helpful, would certainly book again if in the area.
My only concern would be that on Friday and Saturday nights, the hotel is advertising itself as a party hotel, and whilst we weren't bothered by this at all, this could put off some guests especially if the room was pool side.

Lovely helpful staff. Nice spacious room with everything you need. Plenty of parking and affordable. I only stayed one night, but could easily have stayed there a few more nights.
Only negative is no room service, I was really busy and not feeling well but had to leave my room to find food. Staff were apologetic and nice about it though.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Benson and would go back again. Great location, nice pool area, nice room with comfy beds and friendly staff.

The hotel was an adequate selection. Very a boutique selection. Pool area was nice. Restaurant and bar opened limited hours and menu was not as exciting as surrounding restaurants.
The room was set to 23 c or 74 f. The desk provides a fan is you want it cooler.

The staff was friendly and helpful. We are more used to a livelier venue. The room price was ok and the location is close to the fleet terminal.
