A very bland hotel, not 5-star by any standard, the staff are very unresponsive. A simple request for a packed breakfast (we had already paid for the breakfast) owing to an earlier checkout was met with three different responses: yes, no issues, maybe- please check a night before, and finally, absolutely not unless you pay $ 50, for the privilege of packing our paid Breakfast.
Location was a 20 minute drive from the airport and is close to downtown. The atmosphere was clean and opulent. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The value of the room and amenities were very good. The noise level of the lobby and restaurants could be loud depending on if there was an event occurring but the rooms were quiet. The service was good and the amenities were plentiful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Regency Mérida. The hotel is about a 20-minute walk to the historic center, with several excellent restaurants just 5–10 minutes away. Mérida itself offers incredible history, culture, and fantastic food. If you rent a car, we highly recommend visiting the flamingos in Celestún, the relaxed beach town of Progreso, and the many cenotes and Mayan ruins within 1–1.5 hours’ drive.
What truly stood out was the staff. Everyone was warm and helpful, especially the restaurant and Regency Club lounge teams. The lounge food variety was excellent — noticeably healthier than many other Hyatt lounges. As Globalists, we appreciated having lounge access and recommend requesting the 17th floor for convenience.
The only downside was noise. Our north-facing room (overlooking the pool) experienced constant road traffic, which we managed with a noise machine and earplugs. However, one evening pool event was exceptionally loud — the room was vibrating until 11pm, likely due to single-pane windows. Guests on the opposite side also mentioned frequent loud music.
We would return in a heartbeat if this issue were addressed. Improved soundproofing or stricter event volume control would make a significant difference.
One additional suggestion: adding two-bed suite options would greatly benefit guests who prefer suites but do not want a king bed.
The hotel is perfectly located as it is right next to Colon 60, an office/hotel/restaurant complex where many tour companies make a stop. If you are riding the bus from the airport (modern buses and only 3usd each way) this is your stop as well. Staff at the front desk, housekeeping and the cafe were super attentive and helpful. Then you are 1.5 mile walk from downtown, a straight shot on Calle 60, and also a few steps from Paseo Montejo
The experience at Hyatt Regency Merida was fantastic. The best associate at the front desk Suri was excellent and efficient, always helpful and cordial.
Very poor rooms that don't match Hyatt Regency levels of quality. Filthy windows, concierge that knew very little about the area or offerings, ect. Bathrooms incredibly small.
Wonderful stay at the Hyatt Regency. Highly recommend this quiet property in a safe neighborhood. The staff is extremely attentive, replenishing pool towels, and breakfast items. The Regency Club was outstanding! Loved the coffee/cappuchino machine and the evening happy hour which was enough for dinner. Included fantastic breakfast buffet with everything you could imagine. The heated pool was enjoyable with plenty of chairs available. Can't wait to return!
Special thanks to Sergio Cabrera, Debbie Soberanis, the guest experience team and GM Sarah Levorato for the warm welcome from welcoming email to actually staying in the hotel, we received recognition for being Hyatt globalist guests and had a memorable experience for the first time visiting and staying in Merida.
Our stay at Hyatt Regency Mérida was fantastic. Mérida is quickly becoming one of the hottest destinations in Mexico—rich in culture, history, and a unique blend of Mayan and Mexican cuisine, with incredible sites to explore.
The Hyatt Regency is perfectly located at the center of it all, with outstanding staff whose warm smiles and consistently attentive service truly elevate the experience and make your visit to this magical city even more memorable. Just around the corner from Paseo de Montejo, you can enjoy beautiful walks among historic buildings that transport you back hundreds of years, showcasing a stunning fusion of Mayan heritage and modern culture.
An excellent value for your money and one of the best hotel choices in Mérida.
Would not recommend. The bathroom was the main reason. There was a gap in the shower door that caused water to be all over the floor. This was after you had to step over the toilet yo get into the shower. Water was like warm so if you are into cold showers its ok. There were stains on the wall and it overall did not seem cleaned. The floor on the room was gritty and often the dirt would end up in bed. I'd take slippers. The AC was loud. However the room size itself was great. If they would have added some of thar size to the bathroom it would have been appreciated. The coffee shop downstairs has great latte and pastries. I would pass next time, bathrooms mean a lot.
The location is excellent. You can walk to many restaurants. There's a Walmart nearby. The concierge was helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room size was good.
The pool had warm water. The only drawback is the pool area is mostly in the shade for most of the day. Locals with a pass use it so they seem to like it. It wasn't crowded when we were there.
Front desk staff were very personable and professional, housekeeping was excellent, beds were very comfortable and rooms very clean.
Our bathroom ceiling leaked mystery fluid into our room from the room above us. We notified the front desk immediately but were not given any explanation or follow up or compensation from the hotel staff. It was a lot of fluid...
Additionally, the walls of the hotel are paper thin and the doors slam LOUDLY. We were woken up multiple times by the birds outside, our neighbors getting up at 5 am, and other noises.
I would not recommend staying here.
Hotel is in great condition and location and staff are very friendly. Rooms and pool are in good shape. Sadly they are dog-friendly and someone in a room near ours left their dog (or dogs?) in the room during the day. The barking was constant for hours. Thankfully we had things to do but reported to reception. They said they had called the owner to come back and get their dog. Please don't allow for pets to be left behind in hotel rooms. Their barking is pitiful and annoying! Otherwise very good stay.
My wife and I stayed 8 nights during Christmas and the hotel is boring, we ended up going next door to the Holiday Inn for entertainment and to the Fiesta Americana across the street for the Spa and happy hour. They knew it was our anniversary and did nothing special, the day before we stayed for one night at a Krystal and they decorated the bed with an anniversary message and some wine, and the hotel is a much lower class. They even gave us a room on the 12th floor with an obscene mark carved on their window, I asked and they said they knew but had not been able to erase it. They need to do better. I am glad we rented a car. The only great thing is the maids service, they are great!
Its a great hotel unfortunately no upgrades for globalists , lounge was full of kids each night. Hallways are very noisy
Everything about this hotel was perfect. Friendly staff, outstanding food, and a beautiful room with a great view. It's a bit of a walk to the historic center but a straight shot, maybe 20-25 minutes, and very safe and enjoyable with the many beautiful homes and colonial buildings.
I usually don't like to make complains. However, it was a really bad surprise, to be honest.
The door had a gap from the floor, so we could hear everything outside of our bedroom (people entering the gym, going to the swimming pool, etc.).
Furthermore, everyday there was construction works in our floor starting at 9am. After that, we could sleep anymore. In our last day we ask the reception if they could postpone the works for 1h so we could sleep and was told that it wasn't possible.
In addition, we were waken up twice by the cleaning lady at 8:30am. In our first day, she actually openned the door of our room. Since then we left the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door, but it was taken off by the cleaning lady on the 2nd day and never replaced (we stayed in the hotel for 6 days). On our last day we were woked up at 8h30 am again.
Wonderful four night stay that started with a pleasurable check-in experience with Alejandra (see photo).
Large, welcoming lobby area with a nice bar, tucked off in the corner and a very accessible restaurant.
The best buffet breakfast I have had in 10 or more years. Absolutely phenomenal breakfast, with an egg/omelette bar, 5 to 10 hot dishes, all kinds of fruit, all kinds of meat and cheeses, juice, coffee, a truly amazing set up.
Club level and club level benefits were excellent. Basically, you could eat dinner at the club level/membership if desired to do so. And, great service.
Good size room with a nice view (although windows need cleaning). Good size bathroom with welcoming shower, good water pressure, products, and hot water.
Entire staff very friendly.
Well equipped fitness area. Pool area large and nice size pool. No hot tub.
Good location.
Recommend this hotel.
Third time staying at this hotel since 2016 and most say I’ve never been disappointed.
The staff is very friendly and attentive.
Comfortable recently renovated rooms with great views.
Fantastic breakfast buffet with plenty of options.
The hotel has a very nice pool with a gym that’s very well equipped and maintained.
Best part of the hotel is the great location just steps away from Montejo Avenue.
