Lovely, boutique hotel in a peaceful village near the characterful town of Cochem. Attentive and efficient host.Superb breakfast and very clean and comfortable rooms. Makes a great base to explore the surrounding Mosel and Rhineland-Palatinate area.
Such a lovely hotel 500 years old. Rooms large bed comfy, staff friendly, lovely breakfast. Had a nice walk around back of village about 4km with lovely views dog friendly. Recommend to reserve a meal if you intend eating out
This hotel is very wonderfully situated but the Mosel. Very convenient to park right in front. Many restaurants nearby. The owner is very kind and welcoming. She helped with all our questions.
The rooms are very nice. I would recommend this hotel.
Fin terrasse
Godt badeværelse.

We have now lost count of how many times we have stayed here. There is plenty of free parking available and we parked our 4 motorcycles directly opposite the hotel although we were offered the use of the garage. We were given a warm welcome and enjoyed some drinks on the terrace before heading up to our rooms. Unfortunately the hotel does not have a restaurant at present so we had a short wander down the road to another restaurant. The rooms are very large, very comfortable and very well furnished. Claudia is a fantastic host and we had a lovely breakfast the next day.
My husband and I spent a week at the Altes Pfarrhaus Hotel in Ernst early July. The atmosphere was relaxed and nice, and the rooms were very generously sized - and overlooking the Mosel river. The hotel's own restaurant Himmel und Erde (Heaven and Earth) served what is probably the best pizza we've ever tasted. One could spend afternoons in the hotel garden or at the terrace with a book and a glass of the region's lovely riesling. Also, hiking and cycling can be recommended, plus the nearby town of Cochem is idyllic - albeit a bit touristy. The old Roman city Trier is well worth a visit as well. We hope to return to the Altes Pfarrhaus soon!
We were only here for one night. Friendly staff and such a great spot with the restaurant deck in the front of the building overlooking the river and the opposite vineyards. Our room was quite small and at the back so we had not river view (our choice when booking) but the upper floors at the front would be very nice indeed. The free Wifi was almost useless and we had no coverage from Vodaphone either.. not to worry, this is a holiday and we don’t need the electronic world all the time. Unfortunate we had to leave early so we could not avail ourselves of the hotel breakfast which did not begin until 8 am. This is a great spot to stay, reasonably priced and with everything you could need within a stone’s throw.
We stayed few days in the hotel for hinking around the Mosel valley. The room had been renovated not long time ago. The room was very spacious. With a table and two armchairs. Also a small fridge for your own food and drinks was there.
The breakfast was not included in the room fee, but it was worth to book. A good selection of homemade jams, different flavors of yogurt, chees, sliced sausage and each day a different fresh bread was on the buffet.
The menu for the dinner is not very extensive. But all dishes we tried were tasty.
If you like wine, try that served from local winemakers.
You can compose you own pizza, drink a fine beer and enjoy a big ice cream with a special sauce of local prumes. The other food seems also very good. Very fine seating at the terrace or inside. Also a hotel.
We have lost count of the number of times we have now stayed here. We are never disappointed. The hotel is in a lovely location overlooking the river and the view is great. The owners and staff are lovely and speak very good English. The rooms are very clean, very big and very well appointed. The food is excellent and if the weather is agreeable you can eat outside on the terrace. We will absolutely, definitely, without a shadow of doubt be staying here again.
After a long a testing walk from the Castle Thurant I was totally surprised at what I found.
1- the young lady spoke English and was really considerate.
2- my meal was perfect and flavoursome.
3- they allow dogs inside.
4- the decor was clean and fresh.
Only slight negatives but nothing worth knocking them back for.
1- I had to walk back.
2- the coffee isn't what I'm used to in Aussie but proper batista coffee in Germany so far is hard to find.
Nicely located with an awesome terrace with Mosel river view. A lot less crowded and touristic than Cochem and therefore a good alternative to take a break.
Service was efficient and friendly. Apparently hosted by Dutch people.
Food: the flammenkuchen, soup and salads were more than acceptable. Schnitzels however were really disappointing. It seems to be a terrible Dutch habit to deep fry them which makes schnitzel dry hard. It provides the kitchen a bad reputation for all the rest.
Good place to go in any case, but my advice to the chef would be: treat your ingredients better and cook food in a right manner, no matter what kind of bad habbits the Dutch like.
This is a small but very nice hotel in the quiet town Ernst (about 5 km from Cochem).
We had a wonderfull time here. There are not many guests so it is quiet and the kind staff has time to answer your questions and make you feel at home.
Breakfast buffet is small but enough. Diner is wonderfull. Prices are acceptable also for drinks. They have a good menu to chose from. Rooms are clean and new towels everyday (if you like). Tea and coffee facilities in the room. Also a minibar.
At the other side of the road (busy traffic during the day but quiet at night) there is the walking/bicycle path. Bicycles can be rent at a shop nearby (also Ebikes). You can play football, volleybal, rent a kano or just relax in the field.
Wifi is moderate at times.
We stayed 4 nights (special arrangement) and can highly recommend this hotel.
Third time here and yet again we were not disappointed. The owners and staff provide excellent service and the food is terrific. We don't think we will ever tire of the views. It's very relaxing sitting on the terrace in the evening, sipping a local wine whilst watching the river traffic.
This place was great for a quick overnight stay. As a matter of fact, we wished we could have spent more time here on our trip. For the price, this is really hard to beat in Europe. Right on the Mosel river, just a short drive/bus ride to Cochem and other Mosel river stops. Room had quaint modern styling with plenty of space and a great view.
The most impressive thing about Altes Pfarrhaus is the people. The family that runs this hotel was fantastic to us. They also spoke English if that is a concern for anyone.
Overall, highly recommended stop for anyone looking for a nice stay on the Mosel river.
Our second stay here and yet again we were not disappointed. The location is lovely with a fabulous view of the river and surrounding valley. Motorcycles and pushbikes can be safely locked away in a garage. The hosts were extremely welcoming again and we enjoyed a lovely 2 nights. The food was as good as we remembered with a great choice and excellent quality. The restaurant was closed our first night however there are plenty of alternatives a very short walk away.
The hotel is not located in Cochem but you can easly go there with bycle, bus or car. Certainly in a Wine area is the car option not always the best but it would be a long walk to get there. The Hotel offers free bus tickets als a nice bonus.
The Mosel river is a very nice valley with vineyards and lots of Restaurants, hotels and of course wine stores. During the summer is a very visited areas (weekends probably too busy) and in early Autum during the Wine season and the related celebrations an excellent place. Here is a bycle a good option to travel around. Cochem is one of the many towns along the river but is very nice with a lot of riverside restaurants and even a "Medieval" castle. The hotel is located not far away from Cochem but parking can be an issue during busy days.
It is a older building which has been recently renovated; the room size was OK. Not too big, not too small. The bed is a bit too soft and the pillows (only one type) not very good. Bath was modern but as in older buldings the other rooms could be different. The Breakfast was great and we had dinner too and it was very tasty. There is a big terrace for Al Fresco dining with a nice view of the river but in October was too Fresco.
Considering everything the price was OK and I can recommend this place. I think I will return (with my own pillow).
