Pros:

This was the highlight of all the stays when walking the Two Moors Way with my mum last week. Unfortunately a member of staff was taken ill (wishing them a full recovery!) but the team made sure we could let ourselves in to our room, Jake behind the bar and other staff (and the village!) that were covering looked after us so well and went out of their way to make sure we had a comfortable stay and everything we needed. I had the best pint of Exmoor Gold I've ever tasted, the fish and chips were dreamy and sorbet delicious, so was very happy! Breakfast was also top class. We really enjoyed our evening in the bar and the locals were very lovely and welcoming. I WILL be back for another stay, or just a session :D

Cons:

Forgot to mention at the time but the shower seemed to need turning on and off via the isolation switch in the bedroom, it didn't work on the electric shower unit. Otherwise it was a perfect stay.

Fun but not noisy. Friendly people
Pros:

Breakfast very good indeed. Very friendly staff. Lovely old-fashioned feel to the pub. Telly didn't work, but that didn't matter. We didn't go to Exmoor to watch telly!!

Cons:

Nothing - we liked it all.

QUIRKY PUB BUT MISSES OUT ON FINER DETAILS
Pros:

Location is lovely - set in a little Exmoor village. The reception lady was very friendly and helpful.

Cons:

The bed was a bit soft and the evening meal was pretty ordinary. The older male staff member (? owner) was very non communicative to guests unless it seemed you met the being a local criteria.
The breakfast seemed a disjointed affair although the eggs and toast were adequate

A very enjoyable stay in a traditional Exmoor Inn
Pros:

The staff were friendly and helpful and the Inn had a cosy atmosphere with wood burning stoves. The food was of a very good standard, starting the day with a large and tasty Full English Breakfast, The evening menu had a good selection of traditional dishes and an excellent specials board.. The location in the heart of Exmoor National Park was delightful even with the inclement weather.

Cons:

The room was comfortable but on the smaller side with no chairs (though it had a very large bathroom), As we booked at short notice and only for a couple of nights, it wasn't a problem as we spent more time in the bar! Next time, if we are staying longer we will book a slightly larger room.
