Wonderful setting once the journey to the location is finished. Lovely gardens and pool area. So much potential to be a fabulous place, which with new owners should be achievable. Food is great and good value. Staff are trying so hard to deliver good service but need some training and more resources. Very peaceful!
The response I received from CEO was genuine and acknowledged by fair feedback. This was much appreciated.
Rooms were tired and need a lot of care and attention to bring them up to the pictures on the website and the price that the previous owner charged. I can’t comment on current offers.
I felt sad to visit at a time when I could see how wonderful it could be, but probably won’t go back to experience the future regeneration as there are so many other places I want to visit.
The pool and the views over the lake are stunning! I stayed in a villa with a pool and the villa itself is really clean and spacious
The restaurant service is extremely slow and waiters don’t seem to know the menu and tend to disappear during your meal. Even though there were max 4 groups of diners eating at any point the service was extremely disappointing and trying to order additional drinks took so long it wasn’t worth the wait! We raised our issue with the manager who admitted they were short staffed but still due to the amount of waiters (approx 2) to the number of guests it didn’t really explain why service was so slow.
The plunge pool with our room wasn’t heated and was constantly in the shade due to the position so we never used it during our stay
The setting is pretty remote and you have to go through very bumpy roads to get into the town

L’endroit est très bien entretenu, le lieu est très calme et reposant.
Le lieu est situé à l’écart de la plage et des villes ce qui lui confère une atmosphère particulière et très agréable. Immersion au milieu de la faune et de la flore.
Le personnel est à la disposition des clients, le service est de qualité.
Petit plus pour la salle de gym dans la canope de la jungle (quelques poids libres, banc, tapis et vélos).
Nous n’avons pas été conquis par le service de restauration du site. Attention plusieurs charges additionnelles sont à prévoir en supplément au moment de payer l’addition (service + TVA).

What an amazing location and stunning villa overlooking the lake. Absolutely everything you could ask for in true luxury 5+ star accommodation. A beautiful infinity pool overlooking lake kogalla. Fantastic food and lovely attentive staff. We wish we had stayed longer . (There was also a great gym, yoga studio and library which was unexpected). We came in the rainy season but it was fabulous with a great seating area when it did happen to rain. Don’t let the time of year deter you. Also why go to a huge impersonal and boring resort when this is on offer?
Nothing - everything exceptional
Really beautiful rooms and surroundings.
Staff were unprepared and service was lacking. Things were regularly forgotten/took too long or just became bewildering complex - ordering a drink at the pool bar and it took over 30 minutes despite us being the only customers; trying to just get two menus at the table and it being confusing to the staff; trying to order coffee at breakfast and just getting blank stares from our waiter etc. Felt like there was a lack of training, or maybe we came at a time when the regular team were out? We were also staying for our honeymoon, something that was forgotten until we were leaving, at which point someone came out asking if we’d had our cake and offering to pack it for us. It was well intentioned, but it was frustrating how unsmooth the service was throughout our stay. We ended up clearing our own tables/collecting our own drinks etc just to simplify/speed things along. It was still a pleasant stay, but it seemed like there was some chaos happening behind the scenes.
This beautiful tranquil environment was a highlight of our trip. We loved being surrounded by nature. Meals were exceptional and staff very friendly & accommodating. Sunrise from the water tower was amazing and the library a lovely, tranquil place to retreat to. The infinity pool was also a highlight. Rooms are generous in size and the cinnamon scented bathroom products were gorgeous. Personal pool for the room was also appreciated.
No kettle, tea/coffee or fridge in room & despite asking twice, one was not delivered to our room during our stay as promised. Cost of additional activities is extremely high which discouraged participation.
Das Tri liegt wunderschön und sehr ruhig am Rande eines Sees, die Anfahrt ist etwas mühsam aber machbar. Wir haben die Ruhe und die Lage genossen. Man kann auch in 15 min mit dem TukTuk nach Ahangama fahren und hat dann dort Beachlife und Restaurants. Der Pool ist sehr schön, das Essen (Frühstück) sehr gut und auch die Bootstour hat uns gefallen.
Der Zimmerpreis ist etwas teuer und auch die Bootstour war nicht günstig. Kleine Schwächen an der Ausstattung und am Konzept (kein Kaffee am Zimmer, kein Kühlschrank, aber leider auch kein Zimmerservice).
They were incredibly understaffed and were using vocational workers from the nearby school. For the price we were paying it was incredibly dissapointing that the service was so poor. No one could make a half decent coffee or cocktail.

I was very disappointed with the overall level of service. The hotel appeared to be significantly understaffed, which affected nearly every aspect of the experience. There were very few staff members available, and most of them were unable to communicate effectively in English, making even basic interactions difficult.
Simple requests and orders took an unreasonably long time to be handled and most of the time we didnt get exactly what we ordered.
Nothing its the worst
They take extra charge more than the booking price, the service it’s the worst and it’s so far and hard to reach also the food having bad smell, I don’t recommend it at all 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wonderful stay at Tri Ahangama We stayed at Tri Koggala for 2 days and truly enjoyed our experience. From the moment we arrived, the team ensured that our stay was comfortable, smooth, and memorable. The entire check-in process, room allocation, and overall guest experience were handled very well by Mr. Lalit, Mr. Jayantha,Mr. Chamal and Mr. Priyantha. They took great care of us throughout our stay and were always attentive and helpful. A special mention to Mr. Gamini, the Chief Chef, who prepared some of the best Sri Lankan food we have had. The flavors, authenticity, and presentation were outstanding. We would also like to thank Mr. Pasan, Mr. Prashan, and Mr. Chamal, who ensured excellent service during meals and made our dining experience consistently pleasant. Mr. Ishan, the Chief Engineer, deserves appreciation for ensuring everything was perfectly maintained and running smoothly from an engineering perspective. Finally, Ms. Shamika welcomed us during check-in with a warm smile and great politeness, which set a very positive tone for our stay. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable experience, made special by the dedication and hospitality of the entire team. We would definitely recommend Tri Koggala and look forward to visiting again.
